The conure chorus is the ultimate sound!

I just wanted to say I've been watching your videos for a while and you are a very underrated bird youtuber and you are very knowledgeable on birds and I praise you on your work on your channel! You make very great videos and I hope to see your channel grow more!

Thank you so much for this video and for getting such helpful, educational info on conures out there in such an accessible way. We have two rescue conures (a black-capped and a pineapple) and I recognise so many of those behaviours. The black-capped in particular adopts the defensive posture in relation to any kind of brush (sweeping brush, make up brush, hairbrush etc….members of the brush family are his sworn enemy!!). The pineapple is our little squealer…generally a happy sound when he’s excited for his food or a new toy. I wondered if you had any videos/info on separation anxiety behaviour- I think our black-capped suffers from it as he does constant flock calls if we’re out of sight and can latch onto us sometimes. He was previously neglected which might explain it. Thanks again, we’re loving your videos 😀

Thanks David, great video as always. We have been watching to learn more about the different sounds our conure makes. We are particularly trying to figure out when to pay attention because she is scared or anxious, and when she is just after attention and being obnoxious! She has a very loud scream that she breaks out when she doesn’t want to be somewhere or do something 😭 She is also hormonal at the moment, so figuring out what behaviour to discourage.

Thanks! Great video! After owning a few different types of parrots over my life... I have to say I enjoy my Green Cheek the most. They have such a wide range of behaviors and mine is smarter than a Hahn’s mini macaw. They are often termed as a beginner parrot and I disagree. They are just as challenging, fun and satisfying to own as larger species.

Thank you I'm glad I came across your video. I adopted a male last weekend. I was told his mate died and he was a "breeder." So he's not socialized. But he did come to me and lick me at the pet shop the day we met and the shop owner was very surprised at how he initially reacted to me, so now he's home with me.

I just discovered my 2 conures don't care for any kind of music. Which sucks since we all lpve listening to music

Aww, my fancy sun conure Panchito mimics our creaky doors and mimics a "puh-ph-ph" sound I make at him, and he's even blown air back at me when I make that "ph" sound hahaha! He also mimics the way my sister screams and our two-syllable names when my mom calls for us

Hi David- thank you so much for all the knowledge you and Sophie share - it’s has helped more than you know. Question?- I have 2 conures a pineapple and a turquoise hatched 9 days apart, so about same age 8 months. They don’t get along at all, beaks locked wings everywhere- but yet they call for each other if I separate them for playtime in another room. I think they are both males and bonding with me so they are jealous?? I love them both dearly ❤️❤️ what can I do? They eat chop and a homemade seed mix in the morning and pellets at night. 1 is in a large cage- corner unit type for greys and macaws and the other is in a smaller cage 20 x 20 and it sits lower. I know this is long but if anyone could help I’d do greatly appreciate it 🙏🏼 Tkindel

My Green Cheek, Sky, burrows into the neck of my shirt. She'll be 4 years old in 2 weeks and regurgitated alot when she was younger. Not so much now.

Just got my 1st conure, he is 14 yrs old, he doesn't step up but will come out of cage by going onto arm, climbing up arm on to shoulder, the previous owner just let him go back to his cage when he wanted to, but with work comittitments they just didn't have time for him, how can I get him trained as he is an older bird

My female green cheek has the worst most annoying hormonal nesting behavior during this time of the year. She just sits on the bottom of the cage making little squeaks and chirps for hours. Her cage faces a window, it is bright in the room at least 12 hours, her cage door is always open. I've picked her up and put her in her hut, but she goes right back to the bottom of the cage to nest. It's driving me insane and I don't know how to fix it.

And oh my word the nose kiss... if I let Sunny try that, I’d get a free piercing instead... 😔 had a rough evening with her and I’m feeling bummed/broken hearted... yes, I’m watching these to give myself some hope. 💔 During the week, she’s chill with me. (Still need to be on alert for her if she’s on my shoulder) Weekend and my brother (her most favourite person) comes home and she’s a little green beast to everyone else! What’s worse is she’ll fly to me (brother right next to me) and she’ll bite me just because she didn’t land on him. WTF?! She didn’t use to be like this... what did we do wrong?... 😭 We just want her to be happy and locked in a cage for crappy/dangerous behaviour is not fair.

Judging, from the comments I read,I think I was lucky a enough to get a cool green cheek conure. It's like a four year kid, this conure is too cool.

Hello my name is Jeff me and my daughter have Black Cap Conure her name is Ember my question and concern is she bad about shoulder rushing and biting me she stays in my daughters room most all the time. I not cause her to be excited but for most the time she will set up for me then it’s seems to straight up my arm to my shoulder and with in a few mins she biting at my neck. I wanting I’d have any advice or videos for some it I could watch thank you . Jeff

Hi David. I would like ask you about advice regarding 2 my green cheek conures. I have 1 one green cheek cinamon conure ( all signs shows this can be female) and another one is green cheek cinamon blue conure looks like male. My problem is my female is very bond with me - I brought her first was really very poor stage - malnutrition, no tail, weight 45 grams, problem with balance, too long beak and feather discolorisation, problem with flying and landing . Probably was last born because even havent ID ring. I was spend lots of time to made all in right order and now is really nice bird but have still diferent beak (bottom jaw is huge and is pushing top one- but is not a problem with eating) . Now is very happy bird. When I decided to buy another one (male) was slowly introduced each other no problem with eating togheter, flying together, look after each feathers. Last 2-3 months GCC male started plug his feather and became anxius he never come to us or allowed to handling him, looks like he understand that me or my hubby not enemy and he landing on us sometimes alow walking around home with him on our shouders but any close contact with palm or hand he fly out. I was observe what is a problem and looks like my femele is very jealous about me or my husband. for example female is with my husband happy with his company I start talk to Bertie (male) sudenly my Percy (female) comming to me and make couple noises to Berti and put him off, When I come to home Percy dance for happines to see me Berti start also do this but Percy stright bite him and with one leg push him out from door frame, If Berti take any toys and playing sudenly Percy come and take out from Berti any toys. Looks like jealousy for me what make Berti anxious and this is maybe this fether pluging. I would like ask you if this will be wise to separate Bertie from Percy and start from begining to teach him how to step up to hand and build his confidence or maybe you have some different method. I really feel sorry for Bertie because is is nearly bold but ripping his feather badly with visible scars. Pleas help me and Bertie. Thank you

I have a question we have a pineapple conure but we wanted to know what if we bought a sun conure we they are bigger in size compaire to pineapple conure and what if we get the sun conure as a tiny baby would this better for her to feel there isnt nothing worry about, we love our pineapple conure we want what is best and if its possiable to say which type of other birds would get alone with her that be great as well

We just recently got a conure for my roommate and she will back up against hands and at our heads, what does that mean? She also has a tendency to puff up and somewhat rub her face in a somewhat figure 8 on many items like water bottles, jugs, and has done so against ankles and arms. We are super confused on these behaviors...
