What Happened After EXPOSED Speedrun Cheater? - "Drem" 3 Months Later (Minecraft)

3 жыл бұрынOver three months ago, I made a video about a fake Minecraft Speedrunner who goes by Drem. This video garnered way more attention than I could’ve ever imagined, now over 9 million views. To say that I was shocked is an understatement.
That one video was part of a whole chain reaction of events. Today, I’ll be addressing it all. There has been a lot of discussion about misinformation, the cheater in question, and Minecraft speedrunning as a whole. Three distinct topic areas that deserve their fair share of attention. I’ll be going through all three of them to give my take.
I decided to make this video because I felt I had to. With my video still getting a considerable amount of views, it's only right that I go back and address some of the effects it had.

Great video! Hopefully now, this will put the entire "Drem" situation to rest. I'm truly happy of your success off of the video, and I hope this video cleared up some misinformation. My videos are pretty centered around speedrunning and I get nonstop comments about the world seed not starting in the correct position. I'm ngl, even if he did cheat (Dream), I will still support him, everyone makes mistakes, some people just have a harder time accepting them, especially under stress, and if he did cheat, I'd think it'd be bc of extreme pressure to upload content. If he didn't cheat, and he truly did have some amazing luck, (its not impossible, things like that do happen everyone once in a very long while), then he probably just felt attacked with people calling him a cheater. If he didn't cheat and people are also making videos mocking him about cheating, then I'd understand somewhat with him being childish with his responses, he probably would be extremely stressed out. Now I don't know if he cheated, but either way we shouldn't bash him too hard. (Just my opinion, I'm really sorry if you don't like this comment).

This is why some people should actually READ and UNDERSTAND before sending making judgements. And even if you understand, it's better to not send hate to them, I'm not defending Drem but instead it will reduce the toxicity in KZfaq. If some people decide to fake something to get attention, sooner or later they will get the attention they wanted, just not in the way they expected.

I am Dream fan. I am okay with others wanting to talk about him. But the Dream stans are being very fanatic about it. You cant just hate someone for being better than someone else, personally, I support others competing for first at almost anything, it helps build commmunities to discuss on, it forces others to come up with better tactics, it helps speedrunning overall.

Disclaimer: I think that cheating is one of the worst things in the speedrun community I do not condone it. But people are crazy just because some kid went and made a fake speedrun that he didn't even make official they go and send death threats to him and his friends, they insult him, they literally comment on almost all his videos with really bad hate comments, he is just a kid people he is just having fun, you people that sent hate on him are crazy you shouldn't do that it's so toxic, I understand that maybe if he made the Speedrun official then ok you can hate him a little but literally sending death threats Wtf is wrong with you guys.

the problem was not that it got excepted as official. The problem was that he tried to pass a fake speed run as real and made official. When caught he still claimed it was real. An example would be a counterfeit. A person could paint a copy of a famous lost painting based off a photograph to have something nice to show. Or a person could do the exact same thing but proclaim that the found the painting. When the experts come out to verify the authenticity of the painting, they discover it is a fake and the counterfeiter still claims it is real.

Yet another example of not being able to cure stupid. No matter how much you try and explain or hold their hand, they will just make assumptions and go make an ass of themselves. It sucks when it starts effecting others because they get hate for something they didn't do.

The part with the shipwreck, I tested it myself by looking at the savanna itself, and I could see the shipwreck just off the corner of my eye, but it is still fake because he would have most likely passed it if he wasn’t using his irl and in game fov, that fov sometimes can help in speed runs btw,
