How can they expect 10000 people to get into 4 gates and all of them to fall in order and do as they're told? Jesus Christ, the security of this stadium is terrible. Bad safety planning and horrendously bad crowd management led to those deaths. However, let's not pretend alcohol + football hysteria played no part. Everyone knows fans will have a few beers, and everyone knows how uncontrollably excited fans get. Those at the back desperate to get a view of the pitch were oblivious to the consequences. They were not to blame though.

Apparently it was reported that ribs were sticking out of bodies, so it was far worse than I thought. The pressure preventing you being able to inhale air, and also oxygen being in little supply by such a concentration of people. Add in the sheer pressure causing internal damage to their bodies. How in hell did they not see this as a potential disaster in this stadium is mind-boggling.

@AmarNathan one man said he noticed he could not move his arms which had never happened before. Later he had no control over his movements, he was just carried forward by the surge, his feet couldn't touch the floor.
@lw3646
@lw3646 4 жыл бұрын
@@DaveThompsonfairlife4all I don't know about that, one man who survived though had cracked ribs, what is incredible is the fact that the barriers between the terrace steps actually collapsed under the weight and pressure of the surge. Imagine the force required to bend and then snap metal barriers. Without those barriers the full force of the crowd was applied onto the front of it.
@MichaelSangma
@MichaelSangma 4 жыл бұрын
I experienced it once. The experience was just terrifying. I was unable to move, unable to breath and felt helpless. It was hot and confusing. I collapsed. Think of the experience as someone put a plastic bag over your head, your hands tight behind your back and you are stuck inside a trunk/box small enough to just fit with no room left to move even a little bit. And, the trunk/box is placed near a fire. On top of that I did cry for help but no one heard me screaming. It was too loud. You can only scream as long as you can breath. The last few breaths feels like you are trying to breath under water. Since that day I am claustrophobic. And, I am scared of stampedes too. I simply avoid crowds now.

They do exist taxipandy. There's an offence called 'misprison of office' in which a sworn officer of the crown (MP's and Police fall into this as they both swear the oath of alleigance when taking office) are liable to prosecution if they knowingly 'give false report' or abuse their power. Even an MP inside Parliament is subject to that law despite being immune to many others. Add in that they signed and gave false statements to the coroner and other courts and they're potentially guilty of perjury at the very least. Conspiracy to pervert/obstruct the course of justice are also potential charges and of course the police commander on the day could possibly be charged with negligent manslaughter as well.

Gary F it's was not the standing grounds that were the problem, it was the exact design of the stadium (horrible design), the terraces devide and the big fence that crushed the people, take a look at german clubs, they ALL have standing terraces (the biggest is the yellow wall with over 20 Thousand people there every weekend), it was a design error...

Imo, these men and women that used their life forces to doggedly get justice should never have to work again nor pay tax. They should ALL be given immediate expenses paid holidays for a very long duration. During all the years of their justice seeking and turning around of the bs of blaming 'drunk liverpool fans' they were tax paying into a system that entertained lies.

It wasn’t helped by some Liverpool fans turning up without tickets trying to gain entry
@BarbedHawk
@BarbedHawk 4 жыл бұрын
@@sombodyoncetoldmetheworldis that myth has been debunked, though there were pockets of fans without tickets, it was not the cause of the tragedy. "Lord Justice Taylor, in his 1990 report into the disaster, concluded fans were reasonable to arrive between 14.30 and 14.40 as match tickets only requested people be in their places "15 minutes before the game". He was also satisfied that the large concentration of fans who gathered Leppings Lane at 14.40 to 14.50 "did not arrive as a result of any concerted plan". He concluded that police had "failed" to prepare for controlling the arrival of a large number of fans in a short period. Both the club and police "should have realised the turnstile area could not easily cope with the large numbers demanded of it" unless they arrived steadily over a lengthy period. He accepted there were "small groups without tickets" looking to "exploit any chance of getting into the ground". But the main problem was simply one of "large numbers packed into the small area outside the turnstiles". He stated categorically that "fans' behaviour played no part in the disaster". The Hillsborough Independent Panel (HIP) report concluded crowd congestion outside the stadium was "not caused by fans arriving late" for the kick-off. The turnstiles, it said, were "inadequate to process the crowd safely" and the rate of entry insufficient to prevent a dangerous build-up outside the ground. What the jury said: The behaviour of Liverpool supporters did not cause or contribute to the dangerous situation at the Leppings Lane turnstiles." www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-35473732

Have a read on www.stuff.co.nz/world/middle-east/72437352/how-people-die-in-a-crowd-crush. It's a really good article explaining how people die in a human crush. Basically, you get sqaushed between people and your chest gets compressed to a point that your lungs can no longer expand. And you can't do anything about it because you are trapped inside a dense crowd and are unable to move. Usually, you don't even realise you are dying until it's too late.

There seems to be several contributory causes of the disaster. It is undeniable that the Police management of the situation was poor, that many senior officers perverted the course of justice in the aftermath, the ground was not fit for purpose, and that the 96 victims were blameless. However there is one issue that no-one seems to want to address which is why were so many Liverpool fans all trying to access the ground so close to kick off for a major cup semi- final. There were no similar issues at the Forest end and no such issues with all the many semis played at Hillsborough in previous years. The truth is unpalatable but the reality is that during the 1980s when Liverpool were in their absolute pomp and winning everything in sight there was a culture of arriving at grounds late after" bevying up" in the local pubs until ridiculously close to kick off. I witnessed this myself during this period and also the large numbers of fans turning up without tickets. I have no doubt that the chaos ensuing outside the ground was caused by Liverpool fans and this led to the unfortunate chain of events.

There was enough room on the full expanse of those terraces to safely accommodate ALL ticket-holding fans, and (as well dissected since..)....also ALL those who arrived without tickets....FACT. The point being that it was how a section of the fans were "channelled" into those central pens which caused the disaster....NOT that ticketless fans caused an excess in safe capacity, because those who crunched these numbers at the inquest made it quite clear that properly dispersed, even the none-ticket-holders would have safely been able to occupy the entire terrace along with the legit ticket holders. This may be morally wrong....but in terms of safety, that terrace was well able to safely hold both the honest and the dishonest on the day in question.....should they all have just been guided to the appropriate places on that terrace.

The capacity of the pens should be regulated by the police and access blocked (on this occasion by closing 2 big heavy gates) when they reach capacity, Not only did police NOT do this They actually opened an outside gate allowing even more fans to enter the tunnel to pens 4 and 3, The fans assumed there's room because access is still open.
