Also we must also understand the fact that Eden was very young when he was told to be a mentor, in his late 20's. Aside from just not wanting to do it because he didn't feel like it , it was more about if he could do it . like the last clip from the video he doubted himself even when he had known the boys for a long time. so imagine how he must have felt before he met them. Eden is a musical genius who had all his dreams broken so he went to the army .and when he came back he tried again this time the most unsure he has ever been about his abilities. So as much as we all love ateez , and no matter how young of a fan you may be always try to look for the best not only in your idols but also the people that work with them. when idols make mistakes their fan will go above and beyond to defend them saying they are humans and shouldn't be held to a different standard( which is absolutely true) but lets not be hypocritical by treating people without that platform like trash. EDEN WE LOVE YOU , AND WE WOULDN'T WANT ANY OTHER TEACHER FOR OUR BOYS!!! Thank you for coming to my Ted talk =)

I honestly can't understand all of these ppl hating on Eden. They making it look like he was relentlessly and constantly bullying Honngjong every day or sth, whereas he did harsh thing once and then basically said; ok I made a mistake, and take care of him/them ever since. The only opinion that really matters in this case is HJ and Ateez, and they showed many times already that they admire, like and are very fond of Eden and whatever difficulties they had with each other are long fixed so atiny should just stfu

Seriously! It’s not like the boys fear working with Eden-they adore him and fall over themselves to live up to his expectations. And Eden has watched them grow within the company so he genuinely wants them to do well. That’s not something you see in the relationships between many idol groups and their producers/mentors, so people need to calm down. (Just go watch anything where YG or JYP are interacting with their trainees, lol. Those kids shake like leaves because they’re afraid of getting yeeted straight out the trainee life for making one single mistake.) 😂

The more stricter your mentor is, it means they care about you, even if they seem like they don’t care, they do, it means they want you to be successful It’s like with stray kids Bang chan, he’s said the more stricter he is , the more he cares for someone, so he’s strict with Felix because he wants him to do well, and in a concert chan was crying whilst apologising for being so strict I can see Eden as the strict type of mentor not because he’s cold hearted, he just wants his group to do well you know I can see why he would at first want Hongjoon to “fail” because imagine, you being a music prodigy and you’ve just joined a company so you can focus on Your own work and then be told , aight that dream can wait, you need to teach this kid, idk about you but I would be annoyed so I understand why he did what he did, however it’s nice that he changed his mindset and decided to teach him after seeing his hard work and dedication, honestly Eden reminds of Kakashi and Levi if they were merged into a person

woah, there are atinys actually hating on EDEN?? wth. Eden was literally the father of ateez, he made the iconic Ateez sound and his songs (of course with the help of the dorks) are freaking bop. Tbh, i cant imagine Ateez without EDEN. Sure, Ateez will be fine 'cause they can produce their own music but let's be honest, EDEN has distinct sound he made solely for Ateez (kinda like an experimental EDM and moombahton) and that makes the title tracks more unique than the bside tracks. He may be harsh to Joongie and others but that's because he wanted the best from them.

You are fans know your place! I personally loved Eden and know for a fact there would be no Ateez without him...there would be no composer Hongjoong without eden. So educate yourself a before making fools of yourself a and making a fandom look shit by talking shit about a man who put his own career aside to help Ateez become what they are today👍💯

Yeah exactly, Eden has not only once stated that Hongjoong reminds him of his younger self, so he considers him his son. People always crop out that part when they spread rumors about him, trying to make him look bad. Hongjoong has also said that he is hugely inspired by Eden and he would love to work with him forever. Hongjoong took it as a lesson, which helped him to become the artist we know today. People really should make a small research before they spread hate.

Eden with ATEEZ is like Kakashi with Naruto (if u know the anime) Tough love but loves them nonetheless. I already knew about this story before this video. Hongjoong talked about it and how he grew from that. Eden is WAY better than other mentors I've seen in the industry. Have you seen the Eastlight scandal?! The higher-ups abused the kids and sexually harassed them! And I'm a hardcore atiny but I do know that the group would not be where they are completely without Eden's help. He's a big brother to them. If Hongjoong and the guys are still this close with Eden, then their relationship is alright. (Been an atiny since Nov. 5th, 2018 😉 )

When i watched code name is ateez i thought that EDEN was a very nice mentor. He did not even scold them. He gently pointed whats wrong in their tone to make it better.... And when i knew abt how hongjoong became a trainee i was so proud of him and what EDEN did was totally normal cuz at this young age becoming a mentor and having a student was quite a blow to him so i completely understand if he was not convinced by hongjoong at first. And tbh u can't expect walking a flowery path all the time without spines in life and it's these hardships that make u learn and grow more mature and stronger. Take an example Lisa in youth with you as a mentor, she was strict to the trainees but she had to do so(she said it herself and it's for the better), she had to point out every mistake and tell them frankly what's wrong cuz she went through hardships too during her time as a trainee. Sure there were cries, discouragement, loss of confidence by trainees but look how far all trainees have become in the end. So u can't expect everything to be easy at start😕 Now look how far ateez has become with EDEN's help but why so much unnecessary hate on EDEN when he did so much for them that Ateez admire and respect him that much Respect and Love to EDEN and other producers LEEZ and Ollounder😍❤️😘

I have honestly seen hate comments on Eden on twitter too, you're not alone. I found it ridiculous how they already formed an opinion without knowing anything, so I just ignored them. But it soon grew and I was confused. Apparantly Eden himself said that he mistakenly treated Joong because he himself thought he wasn't a good enough producer and a teacher, he wanted Joong to quit so Joong could find a better mentor... Although that wasn't the whole story of their relationship I really think we should just respect both people, because in my opinion we know nothing of their relationship and we should be respectful for their privacy and not pry too much, if we did this mistake again, I don't think Ateez would be too happy with us for hating on their role model and teacher..... Remember you have to have the courage to say "I don't know much to know and opinion" and mind your own business

He may have done something that is viewed pretty harshly, but I think Hongjoong would view what EDEN did to him to shaping him to who he is now and appreciate it (he's always been a super humble). I think they all have a good relationship now. Not every relationship starts off on a good note, but I think it's very obvious there is respect for him and it goes both ways. Just how they interact now shows how much they all adore each other and support each other. I don't think people have a right to judge EDEN harshly since they don't know everything. The only people who know his true actions are the boys and I leave it to them to judge him - it's only their right to decide.

we're going to look back at this years from now, after ateez has set records, sold millions of albums, won a daesang, performed at the biggest arenas, and just laugh. while yes, maybe the method eden took was little too harsh, thank god for hongjoong's stubbornness and eden's quick empathy. when it comes down to it, eden just didn't want hongjoong to go down the same path he did. again, not condoning his actions, but he quickly realised what he did and apologized. hongjoong mentioned in his vlive that it was painful, but he also thought that eden was testing him, so he worked harder. now, eden and ateez have such a great relationship, and the respect eden has for hongjoong as a producer shines in their albums. more so, eden is not giving ateez average songs. he is putting his all into every track, and ateez are executing every single one so well. hongjoong even spoke about other members contributing to their future albums and i tell you eden is going to be behind them all the way, shaping and molding them into true artists. eden is not a grinch, eden is a mentor and a big brother to ateez who wants nothing but their collective success. truly ateez are in the best possible hands at KQ ent.

Eden was definitely harsh to Hongjoong initially and I would totally get why people would think he shouldn't have done that (mostly because of his reason for it), but the poor guy was _broken._ he was seen as a prodigy and seemingly going places and suddenly was left with nothing for years and hoping for a break, then he basically gets a toddler thrown in his lap which, to him, probably seemed like another case of a company taking him where he didn't want to go. to me, it honestly sounds like a big brother that's upset by the new baby in the house. initially hateful of the snotty-nosed, bright-eyed baby but quickly learns to love him lol. Eden truly cares about these boys, you can tell. The boys love him too.

people tend to want to victimize the idols they stan; in some cases it's justified, but in other cases it's like this. people took a situation that at this point probably doesn't mean much to either eden or joong, blew it way out of proportion and ran with it to satisfy their want to defend and protect their idols. the biggest issue i have with this is that hongjoong isn't a child, if his relationship with eden hadn't stabilized already he genuinely wouldn't be so openly admiring of him. stans jumping to his defense against literally nothing and hating eden so passionately for no reason rubs me the wrong way... maybe it's just me but it almost as though hongjoong is infantilized through this, like he's not old and mature enough to deal with his own shit and can't recognize if someone is truly being awful to him, which, according to some atinys, eden apparently is sigh

"people tend to want to victimize the idols they stan" is SO TRUE oh man thanks for putting it into words. People want their fav to be the perfect underdog, to cast someone as a villain or a foil to make their fav the rising hero by contrast. And I agree that in many cases the bullying of idols (by whoever it may be) can be totally real. But even when there is grounds for something fans can blow it out of proportion and make it SUPER melodramatic and overly 2D, like a soap opera and not an actual situation with all of the complexities of real life. I've been ARMY for years but the way fans talk, you'd think BTS lived in a cardboard box on the side of the road that the entire population of South Korea kicked while they walked by. I hate it when fans say that so-and-so group doesn't deserve their success because they "didn't suffer", as if it's the victim olympics and suffering is a job requirement. Tbh i think its people that construct this underdog story so that they themselves can live through it vicariously. Sorry this is a rant I'm just fed up lmao.

The thing is, ATEEZ isn't just one of the groups EDEN has worked with. He is their main producer, and works in a team called Edenary along with with LEEZ, Buddy and Ollounder. Those four, and sometimes other producers for specific tracks, have produced ALL of ATEEZ's music. I don't think there's any tracks that EDEN hasn't worked on, whether it be composing, producing, arranging, writing lyrics or all of the above. You can check the album credits for every one of their albums and it will be immediately apparent how involved he is in ATEEZ. EDEN isn't just one of their producers, he is a huge part of the creative vision behind their whole sound. ATEEZ could definitely produce their own music or work with someone else and still be successful but it would sound completely different without EDEN. That's just a fact. Since I love their music, I am incredibly grateful to him for his work. (His other creative projects such as Stardust and Stardust 2 are also incredible, and I really like a lot of his solo songs as well. He really is an amazing artist). There's been many times when he's put his own solo work on hold or postponed it to prioritize ATEEZ. He ALWAYS puts them first because he is hugely invested in their success. This is from an interview he did: “If I don't produce good music, the impact is greater for the eight members than it is for me,” Eden notes. In Korea, where idols are trained from a young age and forgo schooling to debut, failed careers can leave performers with limited prospects. “The possibility of ATEEZ ending up like that makes me sleepless at night. I felt that pressure like a heavy weight. So when we were working on the first album, I had very high expectations for them. During that process, a couple of the members shed some tears. I scolded them a bit.” He is tough on them because he cares about them, and wants them to be successful. Honestly, I love EDEN. And seeing how much the members love him and appreciate him and hype him up for his solo projects and recommend his songs to atiny is really heartwarming. He's a good person who in no way deserves hate. Hongjoong literally sleeps at the Edenary studio half the time and has his own room to work in there. He seems to have a really positive relationship with him and it boggles the mind that some ATINY are trying to make EDEN out to be some kind of villain.

Having a strict mentor in any field is a good thing even if it's hard, because this is how people improve and get stronger. I'm ATEEZ age and I'm talking by my own experience. If someone wasn't good , he should keep correcting him until he gets it right. It's totally normal

Thank you for making this video! I never knew atinys even hated on eden until I joined twitter. While what he when he first met hongjoong was harsh, it's important to understand the context to every situation before making assumptions. People are so quick to base a person's entire personality based on one negative thing they did in the PAST. If you try to understand the context of the situation and what he has done for the boys afterwards, it's suddenly labelled as kissing up. People don't have to like him, but there is absolutely no justification for spreading hate and slandering his name when 1) he is quite literally one of the reasons ateez are so successful whether or not people want to acknowledge it and 2) the boys themselves are very vocal about being thankful towards him

EDEN and WOODZ have great collaboration, thats where I found EDEN. ATEEZ is getting alot of toxic fans, that are becoming a problem. I have been with EDEN, longer then ATEEZ. I found ATEEZ, through EDEN. I am a fan of BLOCKB, so when I heard ATEEZ, they gave me that BLOCKB feel. That's because they were under BLOCKB, label KQ. Now its SE7EN SEASONS label. Without EDEN, there would not be ATEEZ, he has poured his broken heart, into a young man and group, for his mentoring. He could not see himself flourish and grow, into what he longed for and worked hard for, himself. Seeing how he and ATEEZ have grown to love each other, I really wish the new fans would stop, do research and then decide. I love them both, EDEN and ATEEZ, they are fonominal!

Can't really expect someone as pure as Hongjoong to survive in the cruel world KPOP even if he managed to. Eden learned the hard way and didn't want Hongjoong to experienced that so he went harsh. It's very needed. People bash Eden for making Hongjoong learned 200 words in a day when Hongjoong seems proud and just keep wanting to learn English. People need tl stop believing what they want to believe and start noticing how they both CARE for each other. Wow this is getting long

I completely understood Eden's thought. If I were him, I would be probably doing the same thing too to HJ or a new trainee. Because being a mentor or a teacher is a very big responsibility. And I think Eden were thinking that he weren't ready to hold that position or thinking that he is too inexperienced and there's a lot more experienced artists to be a teacher to HJ. Dont hate Eden. He was probably thinking what's best for him and HJ at that time that's why he was being harsh with HJ in the first place. But everything came out as a very positive results and I thanked Eden for helping Ateez as much as he can.

Honestly, I really think that a lot of Atiny are getting into a foam about something that should be left in the past. If you look at Codename is Ateez, you can see the affection oozing out of Eden for our boys as he introduced and worked on “Pirate King” with them. Initially, I always saw Eden the solo artist as somewhat chic and aloof, with a mild case of resting bitch face (I was wrong for it, I know... lol) but I never see that person when he is interacting with his label mates and especially not Ateez. Yes, maybe Hongjoong and Eden got off on the wrong foot. But fortunately Eden saw something in Hongjoong that impressed him and made him throw away whatever attitude he was holding onto so they could begin working together. I think their relationship is something rare and special in an industry where there is so much competition and scarcity for the top spotlight. We have to give Eden credit and respect for deferring some of his own solo endeavors and still pouring his all into composing and producing for Ateez. I hope they can create and achieve so many more great things in the future! Eight (plus one) makes one team!!!

I...don’t really understand why my fellow Atiny would be mad though. The “incident” (or altercation or whatever you want to call it) happened years ago when they had just met and Eden had been going through some stuff - emotionally and life wise - and yeah he may have been harsh but they’ve resolved that with each other and forgave each other (Hongioong for the harsh treatment and Eden for wanting to succeed (I think it could have been a internal thing that he forgave Hongjoong for - but obviously I don’t know him and I wasn’t there for this so)) and they work as an excellent team. This is the problem with “cancel culture”. Eden doesn’t deserve any hate or even any anger because when you think about it from his side, it explains things. Doesn’t make it right, but that was him in the past and the person involved is really close with him. On a brighter note, I also believe Eden could have been a driving force behind Hongjoong’s determination and passion. HJ could have chosen to go back into his shell, but instead he proved to Eden that he could do it, that he was passionate, and that he would take on the challenges presented to him. Maybe HJ showed Eden that HJ wasn’t doing it for the heck of it. He was doing it bc he loved it. That’s all imma say. Thanks for coming to my TED talk

You see, every teacher/mentor is like that. Sometimes they test our passion and our love for what we aim, sometimes they will harshly scold us. As a mediocre student myself, there are many times my homeroom teacher scolded me harshly and I cried, there are times I was told I'll never succeed academically and I should just give up. But now I realise that the reason I came this far successfully was because of my teacher. I didn't wanna give up and my teacher saw it and pushed me even harder. Eden's just firming Hongjoong from the root, if he can't even handle harsh criticism from his mentor, just imagine the horrorifying ones from the netizens. So Eden did what every teacher does to a student in order to have a strong foundation.

im a baby atiny. I never knew Ateez's existance until Wonderland performance on Kingdom aired in May 2021. I adore all of them and favour Hongjoong a bit more. So I bought Fever part 1 and saw EDEN's name everywhere. I remembered seeing this name on Maddox's Knight and Heize's song which featured RM. Hongjoong spoke highly about him. Then I read Eden's interview and I thought he was a bit arrogant initially. But, he was not confident with mentoring anyone thats understandable, and Hongjoong's perserverance etched into him. He mentored Hongjoong well and Hongjoong really loves him anyway. I think his songs are good. From what I have been listening from Ateez, EDENARY is pretty amazing. Life is not easy anyway. So, for Hongjoong to go through him initially was what he needed to get where he is now. everyone has a catalyst in life and Eden was Hongjoong's and Ateez's. I think people shouldnt hate on Eden and appreciate his music. Ateez's dad.
