The Eurasian badger (Meles meles) is easily recognizable due to its characteristic striped, elongated head. Badgers spend their days in burrows, which are clean and can be very extensive. The entrance to their labyrinth is often found in something resembling a mound. Badgers are so meticulous about cleanliness that they have "bathrooms" in their burrows, chambers designated solely for physiological needs. They are nocturnal animals, leaving their burrows at night in search of food. Badgers are omnivorous.
