For those wondering about the death of Sonja Davis, she was Angela Bassett's stunt double who died during a backward fail from a 42-foot building. The air bag that was supposed to protect her bounced her onto the building and had her thrown to the ground. (The fall was caught on video by her brother.) She sustained multiple injuries, and she was in a two-week coma before she died of said injuries. She was 32. Her survivors (mother and siblings) filed a $10 Million Wrongful Death lawsuit against Paramount Pictures, Eddie Murphy's production company, Director Wes Craven, and Stunt Coordinator Alan Oliney, accusing them of instructing Sonja to jump without a safety net and onto a misplaced safety air bag (some reports say it was overfilled). Her mother even claimed that Sonja was unsure about doing the stunt and even asked three times if it was safe to perform moments before the incident. I tried to find the outcome of the case, but I had no luck. Also, the family's attorney, Melvin Belli, died of Pancreatic Cancer during proceedings. So, that may have something to do with it. (If anyone knows anything about the outcome, feel free to comment.) Sonja Davis was known as one of the few black women working as a stunt double in Hollywood at the time. She was doubling for the like of Janet Jackson, Whoopi Goldberg, and Angela Bassett, as stated before. She was an aerobics instructor and nutritionist before she got into stunt work, which she fell in love with after being invited to work on projects. She also had a strong religious faith and was very close with her family. About the case, Sonja's mother told LA Times: “I hope that this is something that will make the industry think about these people that do death-defying stunts and think about their safety.” Rest In Peace, Sonja Davis. As someone who read the Dracula novel, Dracula's ship "The Demeter" crashes into the docks after Dracula kills the whole crew and Dracula, in the form of a wolf, leaves the ship. Also, Dracula is really overpowered. He can walk in the sunlight-- but loses most of his powers-- and can take the form of various animals and even appear as mist. Pop culture ignores 90% of a vampire's powers in exchange for "sexy neck biting."

I honestly wish we made more movies like this. Movies in different genres starring black people that aren't about slavery, or black people issues or living in the hood or gangs. The reason Eddie Murphy is not really cracking jokes, but the movie is surrounded by a certain comedy is because Wes Craven and Eddie Murphy had creative differences. Eddie Murphy wanted to play this vampire role as a serious lead Craven wanted to also make it a comedy as well. this is the reason why you can actually see this movie battling with itself The movie isn’t great I still like it for nostalgia. I thought Eddie Murphy did a good job as Maximilian, but it wasn’t his time to really be a lead actor in this kind of role.

I feel bad for Eddie Murphy because I heard different rumors that he wanted to be a villain and be more dramatic since comedians or comedic actors were starting to do dramas like Robin Williams and Tom Hanks. Another is Paramount forced him to do one more movie for them before he did The Nutty Professor for Universal Studios. I think it could've been good if Wes Craven didn't want this to be a comedy horror movie.

One thing about _Vampire in Brooklyn_ that people are always quick to bring up is comparing it to a vampire-themed horror/comedy movie from three years earlier called _Innocent Blood_ , which was about a vampire woman posing as a call girl going around New York City deleting gangsters until she fails to delete one that fights her off with a gun, who then this goes around running amuck as a vampire himself.

I can actually believe Wes Craven wanting to make this more of a comedy and not have it be serious because it was starring Eddie Murphy. He made The People Under the Stairs just a few years prior to this, and that was a successful horror-comedy, and around this time A Nightmare on Elm Street was getting a more campy/goofy. I guess Wes was just in his "comedy era". Definitely understand why Eddie wanted this to be more serious though, he was likely tryna expand his range instead of just being comedy. I guess after this he decided it'll never happen and that's how we got Nutty Professor a year later lol

I find it pretty ironic that it was Wes Craven that wanted to make it more of a comedy and not Eddie Murphy. Turns out that Eddie is a horror fan, and he wanted a chance to take on a more serious role. Which... he was going to do that in the movie "Life," which was still funny but had a lot of serious moments. Very underrated movie. That needs to be a video btw. Also, It makes sense for Wes to want more comedic material in the movie. Because the one he made after this was "Scream."

This movie was one of my favorites growing up! I dont care if you throw shade, this was an interesting way to pass an hour and 30 minutes. Quotables galore. And I go to see Eddie Murphy movies, cuz I want him to play 6 characters, and that pays the price of the ticket for me!

This movie would’ve been 10x scarier and funnier if the lead role was Charlie Murphy and Eddie was the comic relief type character.

To be fair, I think Charlie Murphy would have been a more physically-intimidating vampire, but I don't see it working with his thick 'hood accent.

Primm had to start this whole channel over from scratch to monetize his content about 18 months ago (he said Adam 22 put him on game). So that's why the views on earlier videos are lower than they actually are because he had to re-upload all his content after having at least a year's worth of review content.
