never thought i liked 3d platformers til your videos, literally hoovered up a few, working on yooka laylee, playing through psychonauts, i played jak and daxter when it came out as a kid, i loved it, i have so many indie and old platformers on watch list, so excited a whole new frontier in gamming thank you for your videos serving as great directories of platformers

Bomb rush cyberfunk was so good. Not sure how the only mention here was about was about mixed reviews. It has like 98% recommendation on steam, and most reviews are placing it above an 8/10 - definitely deserved more praise here imo. Also i really enjoyed clive n wrench but i know im in the minority. I think its one of those cases where the core game is good, but it was held back by its flaws of which there were a bit too many and made it too rough around the edges for most people. You missed corn kidz 64 AND pseudoregalia which were both amazing games from 2023. The platforming in pseudoregalia is masterclass

I'm sad that Otter game is no longer being developed on. However it's great Spooky Poo is still in development. 😢

I'd just heard about the Untitled Otter game yesterday. Great stylization of early 3d graphics but I did think it was just a practice level for someone just starting out. Didn't know it was going to be a game at one point.

I am actually grateful you included the otter game and Path to Greatness. Even if they don’t come to fruition, they are still very interesting concepts and serve as great inspiration, as well as reasons to keep an eye on these small devs.

Great idea for a video. Always nice to see what's going on with these games. One suggestion? Maybe include links to the finished games on Steam or something. Hardly essential or anything, but it would be nice!

I'm kinda surprised that Rollin' Rascal wasn't mentioned, but it probably will be next video.

I was glad you included the ones that were probably not going to turn into full games. They inspired me. That otter game was really cool. Aw I liked Zera. But that's just the way life can be. Video games take a long time to make you never know when things get in the way. OO i forgot about Nytro. I hope that gets finished. Looked cool. KAO is meh to me for some reason. It hits all the check boxes of what a platformer is. But I keep putting it down. For some reason I just can't get into it enough to complete it. I am interested in Cavern of Dreams too. It doesn't look like a game I would enjoy but every review I have seen people love it so I don't know. Masquerade: The Baubles of Doom didn't look good either gameplay wise. And it wasn't but it was funny so you never know what you'll like about a game. A lot of the 3D platformers I play I found either through you or rad or a few others. So I am glad y'all give light to the games I would never hear about other wise. Yeah some like Clive and Wrench were disappointing but others like Pumpkin Jack and Hell Pie were a blast. I surprisingly really loved Hell Pie. Stupid funny. Platforming was a blast with the swinging. Just a great example of a great 3D platformer in my opinion. I have been seeing all these youtube videos about the genre dying lately. O please, yall negative nellies. Not only are there so many indie games no one ever hears about. There are other games that are non traditional platformers. Like first person platformers like the Supraland series. And if you want to get real technical even games like Spiderman are platformers. Anyways its nice to see a recap. Some of these I forgot about and others I haven't heard in a while and was curious what happened.

I tend to sometimes watch these low-sub count low view-count vids in my recommended and be like "cool but also meh needs work, let me give some feedback" but this video was pretty solid overall and well-made. It wasn't overbearing or AI-made or poorly balanced or anything, just a good review of 3d platformers covered over the past 5 years. Nice job.

I love how you changed Xitter to Twitter. (I call it Xitter, pronounced Shitter, because X is the greek letter for Chi and in some cultures you can pronounce X with an SH Sound.)

Demon turf is amazing, genuinely one of my favorite 3d platformers ever. He'll pie is also super fun

Tomb raider 1-3 remastered deserves a mention imo because the original games are mostly platformers. Also I'm still hoping lobodestroyo gets released lol. They update occasionally.

Isn't there is a double standard within the indie scene where 3d Platformer look down upon but 2d Platformer always considered the definitive way of platforming.

I am glad you arer covering 3D Platformers one of my facevorite genres where most channels are just covering 2D Platformers or Metriodvanias . Keep up the great work . Look forward to seeing more videos on it

Both the Path to Greatness and the Otter-Lifeguard game actually looked charming, and the Otter one in particular looks better than following Longtail one art-wise.

Well... I played Boti and it's bad. Realy bad. Very repetative, boring, monotonous gameplay. And bosses design is something. Just bad game, but it's looks preaty and can make some first impressions, But... No. It's not good. Try Corn Kidz 64. It's REALY good game.

very confused how you could ever consider Hi-Fi Rush a platformer lol. Its a character action game.

What happened was we had a resurgence of 3d platformers and they weren't very good

I was hyped for h ell pie, played the beta etc but when the full game came out it honestly just felt.... stale. same enemies cloned over multiple levels, no real uniqueness to each area it just sort of all blended in together. It's alright but you get bored of it very quickly.

A lot of the new era of 3d platformers turned out to be god awful like Yooka Laylee or mediocre like Hat in Time. Penny’s Big Breakaway is the only modern indie 3d platformer I can think of that can compare to the greats of the genre. Mario Odyssey obviously shows how much life the genre can still have but competing with Nintendo when it comes to 3d platformers has always been a near impossible task.

Hell Pie mechanically is really fun, but it's attempts at humor are so lame and unfunny and just cringe that it really takes away from the overall experience.

Honestly, it's pretty simple: Humans are narcissists who hate animals. I love how all those charming animal platformers failed while the ones starring uninspired human-sue protags succeeded.

- They sucked - 🤷🏻‍♀️ not gonna sugarcoat it. hop and bop died with my childhood for a reason. its NOT. FUN. and anyone arguing differently, i have a SWELL game by Rare with some monkeys and it's only got 6 million collectibles, MAJOR FUN.
