Such a novel concept. Glad they never really tried to manifest death as an actual physical entity. Some movies mess up by doing that (see smile)

Another great first installment that was successful due to the suspense and its ability to stir up paranoia in the audience. I wish suspense was made priority again instead of the cheap jump scares and gore. The most iconic horror films have a thing in common and it is being masters of suspense.
@pressplayulysses
@pressplayulysses Жыл бұрын
Exactly. Even non-horror films suddenly have that scare factor when suspense is executed perfectly. The opening farm scene in Inglourious Basterds. As soon as Hans Landa dropped that smiling facade, it's "oh fuck" time.

A GREAT series! Part 3 is my favorite! Part 4 is a head-scratching dumpster fire. And Part 5 has an EXCELLENT ending that cleverly ties the entire franchise together. BRAVO, FD!!
@neonicon8500

The last one was cheap. You mean to tell me two people get onto a plane, one of them being the guy who had the visions, and they see a group of people get off because he's screaming the plane is going to crash, and they don't think maybe they should get off? And a dumb retcon because in the original movie you can see where those two would be in the fifth one and it is definitely not those two.

Saw part 3 first and this is actually my 2nd favorite series 1 Scream 2 Final Destination 3 Texas Chainsaw
@neonicon8500
@neonicon8500 Жыл бұрын
That's a weird top 3. Scream I understand. But Texas Chainsaw is bad. The only good ones in my opinion are the '03 remake and its sequel. The older ones are kinda boring. But that's how I feel about all old slashers like Halloween, Friday the 13th, etc. Chucky is the ultimate franchise. It is actually one story being told throughout all of them, even if one or two things is retconned here and there. I prefer remakes _USUALLY_ when it comes to horror movies like Texas Chainsaw and Friday. The remake's Jason is the most intimidating one and I think he could take on every other Jason, except maybe Uber Jason from Jason X, another Friday movie I actually enjoy.

@neonicon8500 Honestly a year or so ago it was closer to Halloween Friday and Scream And Texas Chainsaw I have more of a emotional attachment to *my dad who was a scary man one day when I was a kid came downstairs and there was a Chainsaw Sword fight and he was Cowering behind pillows and a Blanket Forever I thought that was too scary for the Scariest person I ever knew having watched Hack The Movies Worst Texas Chainsaw iwas like "What the fuck am I scared of" So this year I watched 2 i find it better than TCM 1 and a Better Sequel than some of the others, but my goodness The Return of the Texas Chainsaw is Phenomenal Movie Crap legitimately a Laugh out loud ride that Climaxes with Bridget Jones Telling Rosie O Donnald Leather Face "YOU SIT THE FUCK DOWN" how is that not the best line in horror 🤣🤣🤣 But I just have so much fun watching the redo of each fucking Leatherface Family

Hold up, I thought Devin Sawa’s character died from a falling brick at the end of the first movie?
@TheAmazingAdam
@TheAmazingAdam Жыл бұрын
That was the second film because they wanted to underpay Sawa. But there's a theory that there's two timelines. The first movie, Flight 180 was in 1999. Then FD2 stated that it was in 2000. So there's the original timeline then the sequels timeline. So in theory, Alex may still be alive in the OG timeline. It'd be awesome if they brought back the OG timeline and brought back Sawa.
@gspendlove
@gspendlove Жыл бұрын
My theory on the first one is, Death is toying with all of them, including Alex, like a cat with a mouse. Teasing Alex with visions of possible escape, when there is no escape. Death brings them time and again to the brink, terrorizing each and every one of them, exploiting every ounce of their fear. And it's not necessarily Death itself, it's Premature Death that's the boogeyman. Accidental Death. It's stalking them, always letting them know it's there and could take them at any time. Each one of them dies violently and it's witnessed by at least one of the others. That's Death sending a message.
@ukmediawarrior

I suppose the death that I always remember is the girl being hit by the bus, lol. What soured it a little is that not long after I saw it I went back in my memory and realised there was no way that bus could of been coming from that direction and at that speed because we see that the road it would have to be coming down is blocked by machines building something, lol.

Not many know, that there is two timelines in Final Destination. Final Destination Flight 180 was in 1999. The sequel then stated that Flight 180 was in 2000 and the sequels copied that and there's a theory that there's two timelines. The Original timeline and the Sequel timeline. So in theory, Alex and Clear are probably still alive in the Original timeline.

I'm actually a little surprised that, almost every time someone covers this franchise, they never seem to mention the early attempts at the same premise over the years; like the 1984 thriller 'Sole Survivor', or the classic 'Twilight Zone' episode '22'. Just food for thought. =)

What makes this such a great horror movie is that a lot of it actually makes sense and makes you wonder how many people were given some kind of sign right before they died. And it was so ground breaking because there was no “killer”. There was no “monster”. It was DEATH itself and the Universe attempting to recreate balance by actually going the extra mile to personally make sure that their lives came to an end because it was written in the stars that their fates were meant to be sealed and there was NO escaping it. Just imagine that! I can’t even think of ANYTHING scarier than the idea of what Final Destination put into all of our heads the very first time we watched it. ……………..When DEATH wants YOU? That’s it. 🪦😳
