Correction. Orochimaru did not pass down "Sage mode" to Kabuto... Kabuto states that he had manage to perfect his body in order to go and master Snake sage mode. Wish Orochimaru did not Master.

The main reason kabuto us in charge of that orphanage is that he is dealing with children with possible kekkei genkai. If you were gonna leave 100 children, all possessing the Sharingan, you'd need someone who knows how to combat the Sharigan to care for them. Kabuto's sage mode can pretty much counter all Sharigan Jutsu with the Izanami being the exception.

what's that hard to understand. Kabuto stayed in that genjutsu that long he had time to go crazy and sane and reflect on himself. it's like the first time we see itachi using genjutsu on kakasi. for a couple of seconds he made kakasi stay whole days in torture. i can't remember exactly how much time passed since saskue and itachi left that cave and when kabuto got out of that cave but imagine that for him time passed slower. maybe he was stuck for years and years.

I say Kabuto is good now. Itachi's Izanami is designed to keep you in a karma loop where you can't get out until you learn your life lessons. He could've been stuck in his head for what seemed like many lifetimes until he achieved a high level of wisdom and became basically enlightened. I've been waiting years to learn more about Kabuto, ever since his fight with Itachi.

Only Shusui's genjutsu can change someone perspective, Orochimaru didn't poison Kabuto, he simply pointed out that the system the 5 great nations and village system is inheritly predator.
