Seasons 1 and 2 were great in my opinion. The political stuff fit, I mean our main character is leader of a political organization so obviously there's going to be some politics. But then I watch the first episode of season 3 and in the first few minutes I'm wondering if I missed a few ova's. Some VA's changed, names were pronounced differently (like minori said more like meenori and the princess was El-Arte now being said as air heart). Wtf happened to season 3.

The serious battles in Log Horizon seem to end in the middle of season 2. Past that, every fight feels like they lack consequence either way.

Season 2 bored the hell out of me, it was ok until the full raid part but after it just went downhill. They focused too much on those shitty kids and power scaling is really off. That was a terrible experience.

Honestly the shell sisters as I've taken to calling them kind of just weirded me out at first but actually ended up causing the most emotional moment for me in terms of season 3 (besides the end confession) when it was revealed they remembered all their adventures with everyone and actually felt really bad for causing so many problems for them since they were having so much fun. I actually teared up a bit! No idea why, I just found it all suprisingly sweet and it caught me completely off guard

I agree about the exposition dumping, but I did feel like the master stroke of the portal re-ignition was a nostalgic spark from season 1 - that Shiroe could pull a trick out at the last minute and out maneuver grim odds. What I felt that was missing was the build up to the reveal. Season 1 had a number of references to the tricks that made the crushing of Hamelin possible and provided the power play necessary to form the Round Table beforehand. Re-igniting the portal wasn't foreshadowed at all as a possibility; only the offhand comment about using the excess magic that the city barriers weren't using now kept it from being a total deus ex magica (and the Sage having been said to have been studying the portal system the entire time). Having the genius abuse the teacher system to hamstring the raiders was novel, but didn't reveal anything new about the world of Elder Tales or provide any new insight into gaming, since we'd already been introduced to the system before. It felt like just another raid, whereas The Depths of Palm illustrated the prep that goes into readying to leave for one (supply concerns) and game rules for raid bosses, the possessed Royal Guard raid showcased the coordination of groups and teamwork necessary to succeed, and the Moth Genius raid was exciting due to the time limit and lack of planning and scouting they had to contend with that the other raids took for granted. The teacher system genius raid did bring up instancing, which was new to the show, but again just sprung it on the audience as much as on the raiders and it again felt like a deus ex magica. If they'd have forced the downleveled raiders to adjust to the condition and find clever ways to fight in that state rather than just handing it off to the less handicapped B team, they could have salvaged some of more of the season 1 feels. As you noted, they're leaning harder on the action beats for what is more of a cerebral anime.

The kids arc is the problem.

It's the freaking kids! what a HUGE and disgusting waste of time! s2 had a slow start but then they decided that the kids needed like 8 episodes for their character developments and fuck the main characters! and then at the very end we got a small taste of what we were actually looking for. And then s3 finally came but this boring guy decided that he needed 5 episodes just to leave town anyway and everything was back to how it was before s3 and then finally we get to see what happened to Krusty and the others, fights, adventure and plot is moving all at once--- FOR TWO EPISODES ONLY and now BACK TO THE KIDS! yeah let's give the rest of the episodes to the freaking kids because that's obviously what the fans love! and it ends with the promise that what we wanted since season 2 is coming for s4... What a disgrace

Just finished season 3 and man am I depressed. I loved seasons 1 and 2, but season 3 dropped so much in quality. Log Horizon is in my top 5 anime and season 3 is one of the biggest bitter pills I've ever had to swallow.

I thought S2 presented Naotsugu and Marielle as a couple. It was not depicted at all S3. Log Horizon shows many girl cast members considering Shiro, and still showed Serera pining for Nyanta.

wow. This video probably explained why I droped this anime after 5 episodes of S2. The way it presented exposition and the lack luster story were bad, but the characrers also felt uninteresting as a whole. None truly stick out to me and lack any charm. Thid is my personal opinion of course.

To me, it feels like the whole series was purposely sabotage just to draw it out as long as it can since the stories themselves are not that long.

Thanks a lot, NHK (Producers of Log Horizon's anime). They're the ones in charge of Log Horizon's anime and made decisions which lead it to it's current state. There's no way Log Horizon's getting back on the anime map now. Not with how NHK handled it.

They focused too much on the kids especially that good for nothing bard girl and minori's "love" for shiro, felt like the 2nd and 3rd season was just about them, left out the mc and important side characters like krusty, season 1 was only good for the first half, fight me.

If someone sees this, where has Henreitta been the whole season? How can some who’s been more than a background character just not show up?

The issue is that it became fillers type. I kept falling asleep after the first main arc.

I’m now binging this series, and man season 2 is really losing me.

What happens to Minori through out the seasons i actually think is good. Yes her getting attracted to Shiro is abit meh but u could se that coming from a mile away and so many anime shows do it that its not that big of a deal in the end and honestly that part could have been alot worse. Minori having to prove herself multiple times isent a bad thing here as in every instance its something far above the other. As in first time she hade to learn party combat from Shiro and after multiple failed dungeon runs hade to muster the courage to take full control of the party and teach the art of party combat back in the dungeon in a very isolated controlled area to then later having to learn to adapt when they defended the costal town where she learned that u cant have a fixed setup and expect it to work 100% of the time. She has learned how to lead a party size team but is thrown into a full party raid with 24 ppl which is something totally different on a scale she never hade to deal with before where they are all kids with no raiding experiance atall and vs a boss that direct attacks the emotions of the players and uses it against them resulting in them all collapsing. Dealing with a raid for the first time is bad enough but having that boss using your own emotions against u they would 100% collapse. Akatski dosent have mutch raiding experiance either but she is a far more experianced player and went through a simular thing before she obtained her Teaching skill (Oral Art skill) and she is older so it makes sense that shes the one that dont break entierly. Her speech while not directly directed to Minori would rally Minori to take charge again and rally the rest of the kids to victory. Minori is trying to mimic Shiros combat style to be a top tier combat leader and u cant get there without having to go through this progression. Minori technically did lead parts of the raid at the end of S2 i belive it was during the battle for the radio antenna but it was more like she assisted Shiro in that battle and during the boss itself while Shiro gave her control of 2 partys we never se her giving any commands during that entire boss battle.

I am honest with season 2 I started skipping to Shiroe and Akatsuki scenes since the rest lost my interest very quickly. Like I keep saying 'just fck already' every other scene xD

it was always bad in my opinion. but true it got worse. i remember only getting a tiny bit impressed during the end of the first half of season 1. can't believe i watched 3 seasons of this all because a friend suggested it (who apologized later) and i can't drop a series once i start it T_T

I have not seen this show, and at this point I have desire to start watching it, especially after watching this video. This gets 3 seasons whole Baccano only gets one. Seriously?

Season 1 was great, Season 2 was average, started off good with the raid for the gold, but the Akatsuki side story was boring, Her and Minori in this romance tango with Shiroe was cringe, And it only got worse in S3, Season 3 felt like they added real life woke politics in it as Akatsuki never stopped with this feminism nonsense, This Anime is supposed to mimick a mmorpg it does the poorest job at it. Best parts were Crusty and the princess, the creation of the round table and the raids and goblin fight. The rest was crap.

I didn't even know they made a new season and now i finished it. S1 was good. Everything else sucked. Too much focus on characters and things that no one cares about.

Log Horizon's execution was simply GREAT in s1, s2 starts weak but ends in an epic battle with the full raid against the genius boss in the 2nd half.. s3 is mostly inner politics, speeches, and the kids incursion, ends up feeling mid.. by contrast Sword Art Online starts kind of weak in the first 2 seasons, but becomes really good in Alicization 👌🏻

What's annoying is there are old players in some guild like 70 to 80yo wtf hahahah if elder tale is a pc game because they mention about "looking at monitor" and the voice chat works at microphone coz that ninja girl's voice is still a girl voice even though she has male character at first episode hahahah there are players with pretty old voice hahahah 70 to 80yrsold guy playing mmorpg to be a merchant, the designs are understandable coz we have have our own preferred design, but the voice? or their voice changer still working?

Honestly, I couldn't give 2 shits about the animation and what you considered quality, I loved the dialog and characters, this works as a slice of life works so much better. Fact is it works over the timing at the moments of action and fact IS, those were 20 more episodes each season. ONLY REASON show broke was some legal issue.

Also their constant recommendation of LH over SAO telling don't watch SAO but watch LH which is much better show. Now look where your most recommended series LH is whilst how successful SAO is despite your bashing on it & suggesting not to watch. Glad, Anitubers are nobody and world doesn't revolve around them😂

It got better and even more awesome and epic than before, that's what happened. Not every isekai has to be about horny protagonists, or OP MCs doing everything while their companions do nothing, or where there's no character development and world building.
