Grab your forks and napkins, folks, because today we're revisiting the savory saga of Cherri's Soul Food Shack on Kitchen Nightmares. If you're a fan of culinary rescue missions led by none other than Gordon Ramsay, you're in for a treat-or should we say, a soulful feast?
The heart of the episode is, of course, Cherri, the well-intentioned but misguided owner. Faced with Ramsay's brutal honesty, Cherri does something most owners on this show don't do-she listens. And voilà, the turnaround begins.
So what happened to Cherri after the episode aired? Where is she today? Is Mama's Soul Food Shack still open today?

I had the pleasure of eating at Mamma's shack when i lived in Brighton. Everyone one there was so incredibly friendly and happy, it was so infectious., the food was tasty, portion sizes were excellent and it wasnt overly expensive, like a lot of other places in Brighton are. I didnt get to try the new place before it shut down. Next time i am in Brighton i will see if i can find Moyos and try that. Looking at the store front, it looks like a lot of the other small, money laundering 'chicken' or kebab shops', which i would probably avoid if i didnt know it was Brian's.

One thing you missed is that the original building (the original shack) has since been declared a huge safety hazard and has been completely torn down. I guess after she left the building, it sat vacant for years and deteriorated over that time making it a safety hazard and had to be torn down.

And that is why the UK Kitchen Nightmares is so superior to the US version, it didn't have to always be high drama and nastiness. Mamma Cherri and Brian were super lovely people. I'm so glad that they've both prospered. You could always tell that Gordon had a real soft spot for both of them.

There's a very different attitude in the US vs the UK.... Also, US viewers largely want drama. Nobody is going to watch a show long if Gordon walks into a restaurant, tells the owner and "chef" that the food sucks and the service is just as bad and they both agree and immediately fix every problem. Aside from the simple fact that that would never actually happen. Most US business owners think a failing business is the fault of the staff and never has anything to do with anything the owner has done wrong.

This episode was the first kitchen nightmares of any kind I ever saw, as well as the first Gordon Ramsay program I ever saw. This is the episode that started my love for Gordon. I loved Mama Cherri, but finding out what she’s done since then makes me love her even more.

I have been binging you for the past few weeks and I must say two things. 1. Please keep going on. The way you deconstruct the "reality" out of reality TV fills me with such hope and you make wonderful content. 2. Please PLEASE give more love too Kitchen Nightmares (UK). The way you portray the British version of this tv show is unwelcoming. The British version shows us who Gordon really is. He is not this hyped up super chef (which he is but isn't the point of the show" but a human who wants to better the restaurant industry for the world. We see a genuine Gordon in the UK version, yet you do not go into as much detail with the UK restaurants as the American ones. Im a fan and subscriber to your channel and that won't change after I post this. All I ask is give the UK Kitchen Nightmare the justice it deserves.

Hey Appletail, thanks for the feedback. You're right; this was one of my earlier videos, and I've learned a lot since then. I've got some UK episodes coming up soon, including the fish and anchor one next month. I enjoy making the UK episodes, but there's less information available about them online, especially since they're from the early 2000s, before social media and many review sites. It's a bit more challenging to research these British episodes. But yes, there are definitely more UK Kitchen Nightmares planned for 2024. Cheers! 🍻
