I feel how Mike feels on a deeper level than most. I’ve skated my whole life, it’s my passion, there were times when the only thing that kept me going was the thought of spending an hour at a spot trying to big flip a 10 stair or something along those lines. I was in a car wreck in 2014, met an 18 wheeler at an intersection head on, we were both going 60mph, I ended up spending the next 6 months in a wheelchair, then the 6 after that relearning how to walk. The only thing that kept me going was skateboarding, I refused to even think about the fact that I may not ever be able to skate again. Now here I am 5 years after taking my first initial steps again without needing crutches or anyone’s help and it just isn’t the same, I can’t even ollie off a 4 foot ledge without my legs feeling like they wanna give out. I work out everyday and it still isn’t the same, and I’ve come to terms with the fact I’ll never be able to skate the way I used too.

@@mrmedl4 Agreed, but I don't fault him for keeping skateboarding at arm's length during a time when his peers are still near the top of their game and putting out parts. Pro athletes need something to put an obsessive focus into and I'd assume Glassy is his ticket for now. When something isn't as fun as it used to be, it's easier to change priorities around. It's natural for people to gravitate towards things with huge growth opportunities and skateboarding doesn't really offer that to him anymore

I feel the same way about Mo, he left his mark as they said in a huge way, I followed Mo as he was coming up and love his style in everyway. I love Mike Mo passion and style. I had a brain injury 2006 from skateboarding. My life passion. I have never touched another skateboard since. I get the fear. Physicality is different. I am happy to see he doesn't have a mental block. It's a physical block. That is very important to skaters with bad injuries. Thank you for this interview. Please interview skaters with TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) from skateboarding. That is a very important piece that is ever recognized. Please highlight this in any way possible. Please. Awareness if at all else. Thank you I loved this. I am a subscriber now. Again thank you.

So crazy to hear this. I was once a skater and got injured. Couldn’t skate anymore. I was never pro but locally sponsored. I picked up golf after, and haven’t stopped since. That was 15 ago.

When I started skateboarding in 2008, Mike Mo was my favorite skater. Obviously because of his part in Fully Flared. I loved those shoes too. Wish he was still able to skate 🥲

I am here 2022 to not forget mike mo. Growing up he was pushing the limit. He had big flips and switch tre on locked. He was going big and still is. Just like they said he pushed the limit. I remember and still thinking everytime i skate i wanna get my tricks on locked like he had it.

I got fully flared for Christmas when I was a kid. It was my first skate dvd, I'll never forget that opening mike mo part! Its the only reason I even tried skating switch. I also ran into him after the injury at skate lab and he was playing skate with all of us and still so good. Skateboarding won't forget him.

I can't describe how many times I have seen his Fully Flared part while bored at school. Recently watched it again for the first time in like 10 years and am kinda bummed out to see Mike like this. Pretty cool how he handles it, seems like he's still a bit pissed off but he made peace with it. Legend.

Breaks my freaken heart man. I’m glad he looks at it in a good light. I think of it as remember the NBA players who won championships and had all the best accolades but their careers ended from injuries. Man there were so many but not all of them looked at these times gracefully.

In 2013 i developed like the harshest type of Bipolar Disorder. People might that’s a joke, but it ended my carreer. No energy for 8 months then manic episode and hospitalization. Finally I get good meds, but after 15 years of skating I basically slowly hung it up. Because I can’t do it the way I used to and it just fucking sucks. And everytime I try pushing it, it still doesnt work out at all. I feel you Mo.

I’ve been skating on and off for about the last 10 years and recently just got back into it again. Mike Mo’s Fully Flared part is really what turned me into skateboarding and he was my childhood hero no cap. I was astonished when a few of my friends today said they had no idea who Mike Mo was and I had to show them his Fully Flared part for the first time. Granted they had only been skating for the last 4-5 years but still wtf. Mike Mo literally changed the game. This man should be a 3x SOTY by now.

I can relate- I’m metal from left hip to knee and right knee to foot. I’m not gonna skate all day to land a backtail shuv, hoping to not get worked and be out of commission for a week, considering I had kickflip backtail shuv out on lock like 10 years ago. It ain’t the age; it’s the hardware that limits us, unfortunately; and people tend to forget that because it’s not their legs. Much love from MA.

Mike you are one of my all time favorite skateboarders and I know you get to hear that a lot but that doesn't make it less true. I can especially relate to you as I am going through a pretty similar experience atm. I'm just gonna vent here now to anyone that will read this. 5 weeks ago my feet startet to get numb and paralyzed and it went up to the hips within 4 days. Turns out I have F*ING MS and it's not gonna be just a pill to get me back on my board. Crazy thing about that in the last 4 years together with a fantastic team we build a skatepark "Allerfornia" with a skateschool, a Parkteam, organizing Contest and just now everything was set for proper life for a skateboarder. I mean I made it to a point where I can comfortably live only doing what I love and building a community. I usually don't comment or engage much but I guess I kind of needed to get this off my chest 🤔 Anyways, life is not over until it's over but I honestly don't know if I can feel like being part of skateboarding without being able to skate. I mean I'll try anyways 😅
