The Warriors and the Heat are the two teams that stand out for identifying talent and then developing it. That takes more than a couple of good scouts, or a good head coach or GM - it takes a "culture" - which both of those organizations have. Great to see Poole prove all those would be GM talking heads wrong about his "potential."

I think the warriors were the perfect team to uncover this hidden gem. This was the only system that could bring out jp’s potential. Every nba player is exceptionally talented and all have the ability to flourish, but it’s all about the system and opportunities. Jordan had the opportunity to learn from 3 of the nbas greatest for 3 years and now look at him. He looks just like curry out there. He had a rough start, but after sitting behind those guys and learning from them, he’s unlocked a new level of play.

I agree with you there but it’s also all on Jordan too he works so damn hard look at interviews with Klay, Draymond, Curry, and Wiggins they all always say how Jordan Poole practically lives in the gym and is always asking questions to get better it reminds me of how people talk about Kobe he got that mamba mentality

@@liong5552 I’m a nuggets fan, so I’m we’ll aware of how there’s gems late in the draft. We’ve drafted great for the last 5+ years. Granted we’ve traded most of them and they went to other teams and flourished, but look at jokic. He’ll go down as one of the biggest steals in nba history. We have a great young trio, but injuries have plagued us. Right when mpj showed his potential last season, his back started bugging him again. Then Jamal hasn’t played in over a year, so it’s been dreadful having to watch jokic carry a bottom half team. They’re literally a bottom half team when he’s not on the court and a top team when he is. Thats how good he is, but he can’t do it himself, not against a trio averaging 80+💀 jp’s emergence in this series has been Catastrophic. Poole reminds me of a 2013 curry. Right when curry started emerging. That’s who Jp looks like rn, and it’s scary to think of how good he’ll be in 3 years. Sitting behind guys like curry and klay was amazing for him. Without those guys, we’d never be seeing this. I’m glad the warriors picked him, because he’s great for the next generation since curry is getting old.

Poole had potential even when he was at Michigan. He hit one of the most memorable shots in Michigan history when he hit the game winning half court shot against Houston to send Michigan to the sweet 16. That team made it to the national championship game but lost to a really good Villanova team that season. Poole always had potential he just needed a few seasons in the NBA to put it all together. People are just now seeing the fruits of his hard work. You don't make this big of a jump in 3 seasons if you are not putting in the work off the court. Golden State has a future star on their hands for years to come with JP.

@@KaseyC. based on expected value per draft position, Bob Myers was the 4th worst GM in the league after the 2021 season because so many of his picks have missed. Obviously, if they run the numbers again after 2022 that will get a nice bump with how well Poole, Kuminga and Moody have been (although missing on Wiseman is even more glaring with how well Edwards and LaMelo have been), but his numbers aren't great. And people bring up Draymond, the Warriors took him at 35, but they also had the 30th pick and took Festus Ezili...so there's a lot of revision history here.

19-20 was a rough year for the entire Warriors team. No wonder he struggled then but I had a feeling he'd pick up in 20-21 and turn out well this season. The Warriors have a 'process' if you wanna call it that, like the SIxers. What happens after the end of this season is anyone's guess but I get the feeling, win or lose the NBA finals, the Warriors staff will make him a good to great offer.

Nassir Little definitely has a role - He was starting at SF for Portland and averaging 10 a game before going down with an injury and will likely be either the starting SF for them this year or a rotational piece. In a vacuum he's not nearly as good as Poole but to lump him in with guys like Ty Jerome, Dylan Windler and Kabengele is definitely missing the mark.
@daviddave2076
@daviddave2076 2 жыл бұрын
seriously, nassir has so much upside. there was a period of time where he was leading the league in most rebounds per game off the bench at 6’6, hes a hustle guy and a great defender. he blocked demar derozan from hitting a game winner and has “no role” which is crazy lol. hes also showed signs of his 3 point shot inproving

Slow down there. Did we forget what Jerome did this season too then? Lumping Little and Jerome together is fine if we're praising Poole for a good season. Jerome has bounced around since his draft day but this season was solid for him. If Poole gets this praise for a good season, why shouldnt Jerome? Jerome isnt close to the other 2 guys mentioned if we wanna talk about this season like we are with Poole. Little and Jerome are both fine pieces to have on your bench

The Warriors have been an amazing organization at developing offensive players for so many years. I still remember the Baron Davis, Jason Richardson and Monte Ellis days (obviously could mention other players but the list would be too long). They were always at the top of the league in PPG. Yea, they didn’t have great defense and didn’t win a lot but I always had a feeling that the Warriors would become a top team one day. Didn’t think they’d become what they are now, but it doesn’t surprise me. Pacers fan btw 😭

Great video. Please take this to another level, and identify the " drafters" who selected the players. Social media and basketball followers never know who these GMs are. That's how the GMs move from team to team by getting rehired or becoming a " consultant". A prime example is Stan Van Gundy.

Poole got really Lucky..if he was drafted onto any other franchise and had the start he had in GS, he'd be out of the league right now. Instead, he will get an extension this summer. Sometimes, the Franchise that Drafts you can change your life....e.g..in 2009, Steph was picked between Minnesotta and The Knicks......We wouldn't know Curry as we do today if he had been drafted into those 2 franhises..Poole should count himself very lucky to be drafted by the Correct team

Honestly i know this may sound crazy but i knew Poole would be that guy from the start. He had that flair and confidence of wanting to be "that guy" from the start and whilst i didnt expect him to perfect his bag and rhythm this quickly, it isnt surprising for anyone who watched him since his rookie year. Once i heard in his rookie season from multiple people that he is a gym rat that stays longer than Curry, i knew he was going to be alright. Still crazy how quick it happened and probably alot to do with Curry tbh. Love how Warriors always pick underdogs. Makes them loyal to the system ina pack full of underdogs turned overachievers.
