every time i see a bad goldfish tank/bowl im reminded of the time my sister decided to get 2 goldfish in a tank that she says was smaller than my 5 gallon, cleaned it twice a week with boiling water and dish soap (the decorations and substrate too) because she didnt like the new tank syndrome, until the silicone gave up and the tank fell apart in the middle of a cleaning... luckily these 2 only had to live in these conditions for a few months and after they were put in a beautiful large pond where they lived for nearly 10 years

I'm so late on this video, but Millie looks so happy. That was a deep preen session right there; guaranteed dusty shoulder. Tiels are pretty... special. Out of the bird species I've owned, I have to say, they're a bit like the dog you know has a bag of rocks for brains, has weird quirks, but you love them anyways.

I work at a Petco, and someone came in asking if they could put a goldfish in a 10 gallon aquarium. After I told them no, and the actually size aquarium they would need for it and why. They asked if they could just bring it back when it outgrows the tank. And then asked if they could put a CLOWN FISH in with it 😂 like damn. Did my best to explain, and luckily no one was in aquatics so they left. But there really are some people who just don't care. Lost a little faith in humanity over that conversation, but at least they now know that clown fish live in salt water, and goldfish live in fresh water. Even if they don't care about stunting the goldfish's growth and then abandoning it

I’ve had a 160 gallon pond in my backyard for 4 years. The first year we bought 4 goldfish, 2 normal orange, 1 black and white, 1 white and black. They actually had babies and ate some (oof) but 4 survived. Since the old fish were so big (like 8-10 inches) we gave them to our local aquarium for them to find a new home. Apparently we are amazing feeders as they sold those goldfish for $40! They sold out in a week! The babies=3 orange, 1 black but it was shaped like a feeder goldfish. And it had gold spots. It looked so cool which means the black and white and the orange made it. Then, 1 month later, my Grandma won a goldfish at a fair, she didnt have a fish tank so we took it home to the pond. Now, they are all as big (maybe bigger) than their parents, and show is the carnival goldfish! Just wondering, there is a lot of algae outside because of the heatwave coming through the U.S. Would it be a good idea to buy some live plants (all I hade was a few caves I made out of big rocks) and to buy a Placo to clean up some of the algae? Chris, I believe you are thinking of silk moths, or saturnidae, most of which are clunky flyers and only have vestigial mouth parts as adults. Horn worms in the family sphingidae, or sphynx moths, are actually some of the strongest flyers of all the moth families. They do have functional mouths and sip nectar as adults. Just thought I'd let you know. 😉

I own a goldfish, in my Koi Fish pond (its a small pond containing 4 koi and the goldfish) and my dad loves them and cleans their pond often, and always make sure they got a pump, and if the water too hot or cold he takes them inside (which is like once a year or twice)

The only good thing happening in the low water tanks is that the lower the water the better the surface area to volume ratio is for oxygen diffusion into the water. Too deep gravel in the bowls just traps organic matter too long and is difficult and disruptive to clean. In the meantime it produces carboxylic acid and hydrogen sulfide, using oxygen in its formation. I was able to breed and sell Gouramis, Zebra Fish and Paradise Fish in 4 ft x 8 ft x 6 inch deep boxes with no filter or aeration. Absolutely perfect water and natural food sources for the tiny fry.

Snakeheads are commonly sold here on Okinawa and I don't know if people realize how huge they get. I like them too tho. They're cute. Oh and your birb is adorable :) My grandpa's cockatiel, Chipper, was a menace when I was a kid. It didn't like anyone but my grandpa haha They were both ornery old men and I miss them both :(

On a serious note, I'd like to see a reviewer like you do a more in depth look at shrimp, their sensitivities and how to keep them safe. I had a great breeding colony of cherries in a 36 gal tank with four fathead minnows (aka rosy reds) and snails and live plants. I Frontlined the cats and must have somehow contaminated the water because shrimp ALL keeled over. People may not be aware of how tiny amounts of common toxins (even dishwashing soap or house cleaning supplies) can destroy your tank. The fish and snails are fine. I miss my shromp!

Our tanks haven't grown any algea at all, but we don't have any live plants. That poor catfish had to go through that transition! I wonder if they naturally do that like clownfish do.

I live in Florida so I could never have a koi pond or fountain lol. During hurricane season it would definitely flood and all the goldfish would escape into the lake near me xd

I work at a big box pet store, and we have to follow premade setups for every single animal enclosure. This means I can't even make unique "aquascapes" tailored to whatever's in the tank. I apologize to my fish every single day.
