Originally, the game was supposed to be set in Egypt after Kratos fled Greece but people at Santa Monica thought Egypt wasn't far enough from Greece. Kratos had to run away as far as possible from his past. That's why they settled on the Norse mythology dualogy

Imagine if the next game is a full blown war between Egyptian gods and Norse gods. Decades after Ragnarok a war in Egypt finally ends with Seth as it's victor, Seth slew Ra and imprisoned the gods who went against him and he wasn't satisfied with just Egypt so when he found out about Ragnarok he sets out to conquer the remaining realms only to be met by an army lead by a new and more powerful All Father.

The thing is Kratos has put his god of war history behind him. In ragnarok we see the last mural of him rebuilding the realms and finally finding peace. So to have him jump to Egypt and kill a third pantheon of gods just doesn’t make sense.

There actually are a LOT of known characters and stories in norse mythology. It’s just that most people never learn about them in school. I’m Norwegian, and the mistletoe plot twist was something I saw coming from a mile away. I think making only two games is perfect, because in the next installment I might get to learn something about another religion or mythology.

Fun fact, in the God Of War Fallen God comic, which is set between God of War 3 and God Of War 2018, we see Kratos in Egypt. It is never directly stated, but the landscape, the words of the people there, and what creatures all fights all make it obvious he was in Egypt if only for a little while.

not only Egypt and Celtic mythology. In Tyr's room was also 3-tomoe sign, which comes from Shintoism religion (Japanese national religion). It means we can wait for the another gow game about japanese mythology.

I imagine a shintoism themed GoW game would flourish with loki as the main character and Kratos aiding him later in the game as a surprise and because GoW isn’t GoW without THE God of War but also because loki’s skills suit better gameplay wise i’d think, just hope Kratos gets a good end at the end of the series…probably death

God of War Rebirth (2026-7) - Time jump a few years, old man Kratos receives word that Atreus is in trouble in Egypt. - He leaves Queen Freya and Mimir as her counsel. - Atreus(adult) is looking for the remaining giants and finds out that they migrated to Egypt and even built the pyramids. - Atreus is traveling with Angroboda but ends up dying at Seth’s hands (Atreus is at fault) - Atreus is tempted by a scheming Osiris offering to revive Angroboda in exchange for killing Anubis. - Kratos fights his way through Osiris’s mummies arrives and finds his son in mourning. - Kratos teaches Atreus how to properly mourn, but Atreus is having none of it and sets out on a revenge mission. - Kratos, now really old and will have to work extra hard to protect his son from the Egyptian pantheon. - if anyone from Santa Monica Studios sees this, feel free to use it. No credit necessary. Would love to work on it with ya. (Just shooting my shot hehe)

My thing is, how many times can he travel to different realms before it gets old. The beauty of the "Norse Arc" was the mystery and grounded story. Idk how it can be continued in a sense.

Writers will definitely find a way. New conflicts will be made. Old characters will potentially make a return. And maybe the next game will mix both Egypt and japanese mythos. Like switching between realms. Doubt it though. They might split them into a few more games with Christianity potentially being the final mythos.

In God Of War Valhalla Tyr wields a Macuahuitl from Mesoamerica, a Khopesh from Ancient Egypt, and a Katana from Japan, giving hints for future installments. We'll just have to wait and see but the gods of Egypt and Kratos with Egyptian lore sounds very intriguing!
