The jury made the decision after hearing all the evidence presented by both sides. Providing public safety is difficult enough without adding in drugs induced violent behaviors. If you cooperate with the police and not be violent your chances of surviving a police encounter is certain.

There were TWO WITNESSES that said that Ellis approached police in their car in a NON-violent way (he asked them for help regarding a situation he was in) then the police (still according to the witnesses) knocked Ellis down as they got out of their car and police IMMEDIATELY started beating Ellis and Ellis DIDN’T fight back. Then police restrained Ellis, again Ellis WASN’T fighting back according to the TWO WITNESSES, police hog tied Ellis, put a chokehold on him, and one of the cops ADMITTED to putting his knee in Ellis’ back and putting weight on him. The medical examiner said that according to his findings Ellis died from all the restraints put on him. Police denied what the witnesses said was true and instead said that Ellis attacked them. Ellis had warrants which he told police about when he approached them for help. And meth was found in Ellis’ system. Tacoma where this happened has a history of police corruption, and they have been investigated by the FBI. I read a more detailed news story on this case.

If you listen to the news story above starting at 1:10, the JUDGE didn’t allow all the evidence to be shown/heard during the case. He excluded a lot of it apparently.

@@SnowLeopardForever Per Channel 5, Tacoma, according to the full autopsy report, "Ellis also had a fatal amount of methamphetamine in his system." And Further " report also added, "It is unlikely that this death would have occurred due to physical restraint alone, without the contributing conditions. An argument could be made that the extremely high methamphetamine concentration should be considered the primary factor." And the "argument" was made and justice served. Ellis was a habitual meth head. Don't do drugs and fight the police....try that logic.

@@SnowLeopardForever Ellis was awaiting trial for a violent crime while under the influence of methamphetamine. He had taken methamphetamine that night . The jury did not believe the witnesses. I wonder why.

What judge excludes evidence that would prove guilt if it was obtained legally?? This judge needs disbarred!!

What was the evidence? There might be a justification for excluding legally obtained evidence; unconstitutional, unduly prejudicial, etc..

Why exclude any legally obtained evidence. That's a clear bias.
