There is a good chance a vehicle that has unset will get some damage being righted because it is nearly impossible to control the integrity of the chassis as it is brought back over.

I'm not a wrecker operator, but I sure do appreciate you recognizing that they are not the problem in most cases, and they have a tough job. They generally are there to help solve problems, but most of the time they also gotta worry about it getting traffic flowing again...I'm new to your channel, but have loved all I've seen so far. Good common sense, with some humor and a great personality! Thanks!

Cool of you to give tow truckers some respect. Often a thankless job that can never be done fast enough to satisfy people. Good explanation on how you practice your craft, and crazy how much you have to twist it. Have you ever had a motor fall completely out of the mount brackets since you twist hard and remove the bolts?

Didn't think the frames could be twisted that much...WOW! And I used to drive a log truck. So, I've experienced some frame flex. It's cool as hell the first time you experience it and that's when you realize just how much engineering and thought goes into truck frames behind the scenes.

You help people realize what can be done if you know what you want and how to get that. Straightening a truck frame requires lots of chains and hydraulic jacks, and all of it's heavy and hard to deal with. There's a certain amount of art mixed in with the science and physics of straightening a frame, and your shop seems to have captured the mix well. You do good work and using the beams and columns of the shop itself is genius for showing just how jacked up something was, compared to how it turned out. Thanks for the video!

I'll never forget coming home from work one day and getting stuck in traffic, and when I got close enough to see the accident, it was a tractor trailer that was hauling coils of steel that was coming on the road from the onramp, and he cut the turn too short, and the back wheels of the trailer climbed onto the concrete jersey and the trailer was twisted 90 degrees.

Awesome. I don't know anything about straightening frames. I know it used to be a thing for cars back in the day before everything was uni-body and sub-frames. Is your shop capable of fixing full frame cars or 1/2 ton pick ups? Or is it just for semis? Just curious. Liked the video, and you earned this subscription. Keep up the great work.
@zcl260
@zcl260 Жыл бұрын
both full framed trucks and unibody cars can be straightened, although the process on unibody cars generally requires removal and replacement of severely damaged areas. from the looks of his shop it appears they mostly work on med/heavy duty commercial size vehicles. pickups and unibody cars can be repaired on a much smaller/lighter duty frame rack than he is using. a unibody car or pickup is valued at much less than a semi truck though, so while frame straightening for them is relatively common, I would imagine the vast majority of them are totaled out due to the astronomical repair cost and just scrapped. whereas a semi wouldn't be.
