Great fishing ! We use the same technique with the live blue gill on Santee Cooper in SC trying to find the deep holes. Flat heads tend to hit more on the live bait with the blues hitting either. Enjoyed the video !

I grew up on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, fished both salt and brackish water. Lived on Bayou Lacroix we used pinfish ( saltwater perch) as bait for redfish often and always cut the dorsal fins off. Would use small bream as well. Catfish were plentiful as we ran trotlines back in the bayous. I prefer to saltwater fish inshore redfish, sheepshead, blackdrum, speckled trout, white trout. Rarely get skunked as catfish are always hungry it seems. Like you I love to catch the rod benders. Recently moved to middle Georgia and have to get brushed up on total freshwater fishing.

Hi. Thank you for your video and sharing your knowledge of fishing and gear. I don't know much about fishing gear and line, even though I enjoy fishing immensely. Is the reel you're using for Catfish supposed to be used just for dropping bait instead of casting? I seem to always tangle my line when using that type of reel for casting lures for Perch or casting bait from the shoreline.

I have rlly only ever caught bass and pan fish but the couple of times I caught Catfish have been amazing I love this vid. Why is the PC crowd coming after you for trimming the fin of the bluegill? It is just helping you handle the fish better.
