I'm on Verzenio and Letrazole. It has literally stopped my cancer from spreading. I have the same as you: Stage 4 MBC with mets to ribs, spine, humerus, lung and lymph. I am doing very well with the Verzenio. In fact, told my oncologist that I have no side effects at all with it. The Letrazole has made me gain weight but at least I'm eating and comfortable. Verzenio tips: it's taken twice a day. Please take it every 12 hours to space it out evenly. It causes diarrhea in most patients. Make sure you stay well hydrated and keep some Imodium around for diarrhea if you need it. I am hopeful that you'll get some relief from your pain and that your tumors will also shrink with the Verzenio---that's another plus for this drug. Stay strong and praying for you, Lea.

Yes, I forgot to mention that. I had it about 6 weeks at the start then it went away completely. It was the only side effect I had with Verzenio. I hope you're able to avoid it.

@@Leasbreastcancerstory Yes. I was on IV Taxol to start in spring 2021 (before Verzenio) and was taking multivitamin, extra Vit C and a D capsule daily. Also took Melatonin to regulate my sleep. I ended up stopping the Melatonin bc I was already so tired from the Taxol. In June when I finished the Taxol, I had to have my appendix removed. The doc gave me a couple months off and then started me on Verzenio in August. By October I was really down and barely eating. He took me off of it for one month, let me rest and eat. Then I started it all again and did great with it. Verzenio kicked my arse the first time bc of diarrhea and not being hungry at all. I also have peripheral neuropathy in my feet from the Taxol and take alpha lipoic acid and a multivitamin now for that. Today I consider myself very lucky bc I am not yet in pain and can still get around well. I can eat and enjoy my life.

So glad you went for the 2nd opinion! Now you have another option. So aad that your oncologist wasn't willing to look into this treatment as you suggested. I feel sorry for those patients who don't know about getting another opinion and trust what they hear. Prayer continue for you and your family. So glad you get to go home early!

Im very dissapointed that theres still doctors out there that dont listen to their patients expecially the fact that you researched this paticular therapy made the suggestion to her and she dismissed it . I felt your pain when you started talking about MD Anderson suggesting you go on this new therapy and one that you had already asked your oncologist about in the past . Im so sorry you had to go through all of that but I am so glad. you did get the second opinion . Thank God and I pray that this will be the therapy that will help heal you something tells me you will have a long life and bella will have her mommy around for her wedding day :) Thank you for sharing your story with us and I am so happy to see tht your youtube channel is growing and I will also pray that your story will reach more subscribers . I'm an MD Anderson patient and I recommend if your insurance allows it, get your scans done there as well. I was surprised to learn that there's a difference in the quality. I live in the Dallas Area and had my initial diagnosis here and a few months later went to MDA for a second opinion where they discovered my first recurrence in 2019. Since then, I have all my treatments and followups there. In 2020, when I had a 2nd recurrence, I would wake up at 3am drive 4 hours to Houston, get chemo all day and drive back that night to Dallas, every 3 weeks for 6 months. By myself too. I was at stage 4 but luckily responded well to treatment and now in my 3rd year of clear scans. I go back there for scans because it's better for them to reference previous scans, rather than have to bring your scans from elsewhere.

if I were you, I'd stay registered here at MD and make an arrangement to send in the scans. Do them in Oklahoma ( privately would be best) and send them over to MD A. CT scans don't cost that much. This is better than looking for another doc at home, If you stay at the same hospital, they'll cover for each other, so you're likely not going to get very fair treatment (or at least there is a risk that you won't and that's not good for your mental health). Just something to consider. Don't forget that doctors talk to each other.

When I was in Ibrance I was also in fulvestrant injection every month plus exemestane. Now I am taking verzenio together with fulvestrant and exemestane. These combination works for me so ask your onco if these combination will work with your case. If you are not menopause yet he/she may give you tamoxifen instead of exemestane. Your onco may give you different combi so this just fyi. Also please note that verzenio's side effect is diarrhea. Your onco may adjust your daily dosage. Again just fyi.

Hi Leah, I am just so mad because I’m starting to think that this has something to do with money. Meaning that I guess the new drug that begins with a V is somehow costlier in the hospital or manage care is somehow deciding who gets what. I’m just very cynical anyway I’m glad you got a another opinion. 🙏🏻

I am glad. Doctors know how to take care of you. Talking about some non experience doctors. The first doctor that did biopsy on my husband,s throat and found out it was cancer. He wanted to do the surgery in next 3 days. I am glad we did not let him to do the surgery. I am sure it was going to mess my husband' a throat. Then we went to see second group of doctors at different hospital, and we did the research what is the best hospital to take care of throat cancer. We found out MD Anderson cancer center. MD Anderson cancer center doctors and the second group of doctors had the same option. NO SURGERY. we freak out. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
