I think part of the reason the raccoons show up first is because there's more raccoons than some other, bigger, animals, like bears or deers. Also, raccoons are a lot less timid than most animals... And they're pretty clever as well. I saw raccoons, in New York City, cross a street to get back to Central Park. It even looked to make sure there were no cars coming before crossing the streets.

The most likely reason the raccoons are always first is that the don't fear the scent of humans like other animals do. They learned long ago that they could find food to scavenge in our garbage. In many places they are practically domesticated pets. My great aunt had one that they left scraps out for that came around all the time. There is a guy I work with that regularly feeds dozens of them on his back porch every night.

Yeah except it's not 'natural Gatorade' at all, it's like, 50 million times better than Gatorade, which is just processed chemicals and refined sugar that has precisely zero nutritional or beneficial content for your body at all (in fact quite the opposite and like all artificial carbonated beverages is pretty harmful).

@@jay-el-bee most definitely the best learning kids can get is the kind they get while thinking they are just having fun 😉 kids are tiny little sponges that just absorb anything they are interested in and it's such a blessing to see them grow and learn and have such interest in the world around them. Given the opportunity many kids could grow up to change our world for the better if they were nurtured and were given the opportunity to grow their interests. Sadly many times a basic public school system squashes their spark and their desire to learn instead of harnessing that interest all in the name of pushing them through as a bulk group due to numbers. 🥺 Each child is so very different with a various array of interests and strengths and sadly the public school system is just not prepared or able to nurture that accordingly 🥺

Not to say they dont Have a phenemonal sense of smell And other senses, but it might he that there simply is so Many of them around 🥴 they seem to adapt to live in the proximity of humans, where as Predators dont care about human habitation at all 🤔 so, Deer are numerous And thats why at least in Finland There is a yearly quota of them hunted, so they dont over populate. Racoons we dont Have over here but what i've seen in videos they seem to Be quite common in america

I will agree, there is limited aggressiveness among them. In my observations, younger specimens tend to be more aggressive as a whole.

As a person who spends a lot of time in the outdoors on my own 20 acre property, and who has decades of experience with wildlife may I offer a few inputs. Before doing that, your video is top quality footage. Good job! Keep observing and sharing your footage. It will help others learn about nature. Ok, first many animals LOVE corn, starting with humans and going all the way down the chain to mice. Nearly everything eats it. Quite a lot of animals eat fruits too. There were many who eat both that didn't happen to visit your camera site. But you may catch some of them on future videos. Second, one thing to be very careful about however is that corn, once it gets wet, can develop bacteria that is toxic to deer and some other animals. Eating tainted corn can kill them. Thus go easy with the amount of corn you pour directly onto the ground. Only put out enough that can be consumed by the animals within 24 hours. And avoid putting out corn before a rain or other water event. If you want an easy to build, cheap but permanent feeder, check out the one on my You Tube channel. I have a video on how to build one that will last for years. It is a trough style feeder with a roof covering that helps keep the corn dry. All the animals can easily use it. Third, for deer to be able to digest corn, they MUST have special enzymes in their stomachs. Older, more mature deer likely have eaten corn before and will be able to digest it easily. But very young fawns probably do NOT have the enzymes they would need. Thus eating very much corn would likely create stomach problems for them. Mama Doe knows this, thus no reason to summons them to a corn pile. They don't need to be eating it yet. And as you noted, they didn't just gobble it up. Racoons and possums are omnivores, as they eat meat and plants (including veggies and fruits.) Essentially those critters will eat dang near anything. Their food doesn't have to be fresh either. They will eat rancid and rotting foods. Plus they are not beyond cannibalism as they will eat meat of their own species if it is available. Overall, these two critters are nasty eaters. So they show up to check out anything that remotely smells like edible food and if they find something, they will likely dig into it with gusto. Deer rarely eat any type of meat, although they can and will eat small baby birds or any other small animal that they can digest. But deer eat well over 700 different types of plants so they too will try most anything that is a plant, vegetable, or fruit. NOTHING gets wasted in nature. Something will eat and consume anything you leave in the woods. Great video. Thanks for sharing.

My wife and I want to go camping sometime now that we relocated to cleaner air in Ohio. I know it is not safe usually to go with strangers, but as my wife and I figure the whole camping thing out we'll let you know if there might be any groups or something safe of that nature that may in your area. When I was younger I was with the Venture Scouts who were kind to all sorts of folk, maybe you can offer to help your local Venture Crew out on camp trips? We would set things up so boy scouts and tykes could get their badges, and went to some cool locations in the north east. I will keep thinking on it; safety and harmony first. Every chapter can be different but they do usually appreciate the help and you can meet and network some cool folks that way. Just some thoughts since I love the woods and know you love the woods so I want to help. There are also marine variants of Venture crew if I recall right. Cheering for your hopes to come through!

My neighbor (Who "can't stand them d**n animals") would buy those big oblong seeded watermelons and slice them in half lengthways, but would only eat the heart down to the seeds. He would bring Ruckus the 2 remaining halves. She would jump in one with all 4 paws and bury her face in the fruit, snarling and slurping and chewing like she hadn't eaten in a week. It was absolutely hilarious to watch. The trail cam videos are great! Thanks for sharing them.

Wildlife rehabber from Ct here...I loved this!!. Forest animals need some help as we move in and thoughtlessly cut down their nut trees. Xo

That was pretty awesome. I feed all the furry kids that come out of the woods into the yard too. I don't have a cam, but I can see from the window. I love it 😀

Has to be one of the cutest videos I’ve seen with wild animals. Raccoons are cute but they are scavengers. I had one steal an entire bag of marshmallows off the picnic table at my campsite. Then next thing I know I can hear a few of them fighting. 🤣. The deer & fawns were super cute as well.

Add a few sweet potatoes (cut up) and carrots in with the corn. Every other day include several cut up apples. Any porcupines in the area will also join in on the feast. The only animals I’ve seen jumping on each other are a) squirrels b) turkey. Other than that they seem to share well. Pumpkin and Watermelon, really a treat for all. .
