In this episode, I talk about what happens when a narcissist knows you have figured them out and what you should expect. I explain in-depth how the abuse escalates and how they try to love bomb you into thinking that they have changed and if that doesn't work, how they punish you through narcissistic rage.

I learned to pretend not to know. Sometimes you have to play the role of the fool to fool the fool who thinks they're fooling you. That's how you set them up, by flipping the script. Don't ever let them know that you know. They'll destroy themselves eventually. It's hard to do though. Be fake nice, then ghost/block them.

The biggest mistake I made when I found out my husband was a malignant narcissist was inform him of this and try to get him to go to therapy. This of course only set me up for abuse from marriage counselors as they would side with him. Once I realized that therapy was not going to work on him I told him I was not sure I could stay in the marriage. From that moment on my life was a living hell. He didn’t even try to hide the abuse anymore and I was stuck living in the house with him an absolute terror of what might happen next. The best advice I can give anyone in this situation is to leave quietly I understand this is incredibly difficult to do because as the kind person that you probably are you feel like you should inform the person that you’re leaving, but you are not dealing with a normal person.

So true! I naively thought he was actually interested in me! No one ever acted this way before toward me. .. interested in my world, and I actually felt valued. But shortly, I could do nothing right. I’m a decent cook for example, but he’d look it over and say “Yuck. You eat weird stuff, etc.” Oh, he thought he was a great cook, but believe me he wasn’t. But I’d nonetheless encourage him, etc. But It got much worse, financially and emotionally. We kept our own places but he was a mere “shout” down the street and knew whenever I wasn’t home, etc. I really didn’t know how to get away short of selling my house, because he came by everyday with one need or request after another, my car, money, etc. Then one day someone else appeared on the scene and apparently sucked in by his his perpetual charms, within days had moved in with him. He tried to tell me it was his cousin! Lol. But I let it go as annoyed and fed up as I was, but that wasn’t enough for him and told him I would move on (no jealousy displays he was hoping for). He still had to try to triangulate me, texting snark, hoping Id respond (and thus breeding insecurity in his newest prey). I am a bit crushed that it had to turn out this way, but I didn’t take the bait. It was never real. And I have surprised myself in realizing that I can think quite calmly about all this and say…”well he’s her problem now… or will be shortly.” Let her drive him hither and yon. He is always too broke to get his own car fixed. Just a handful of gimme without so much as a “much obliged”, as that song goes. I’m sort of free falling at the moment but I know I will land on my feet. Addendum: when all is said and done with me, and my Will is read, I am leaving him “my last dime” that he tried so hard to get. But most likely I’ll out-live him anyway.

Have a PLAN when leaving them,Be SILENT, NEVER let anyone know your next move especially anyone who could get your plan back to the narcissist be 1000 steps ahead of them. Put important documents in a backpack for you and the kids that you may have to grab to run out immediately ,follow your intuition if it tells you you are in immediate danger then you probably are, RUN 🏃‍♀️ For me I had to go to domestic violence shelters because I knew what I was dealing with people that are close to you in my opinion it’s best you don’t even tell them exactly where you are just in case the narcissist manages to tug on their empathy and cry etc. they cannot give out information they don’t know. What I liked about being a domestic violence shelters is you have a ton of other people to support each other they put you in classes you literally are brainwashed you see a therapist you’re not alone and you’re safe especially if you have kids. Binge watch narcissistic survivor videos on every social media , for THE REST OF YOUR LIFE,like it’s the very air you breathe, because it IS! It still hasn't gotten much easier. There's a tinge of fear just typing this comment. The lengths these kinds of people go to make you miserable is mind-blowingly unfathomable. Considering I was discarded 6 years ago she still won't let me go. It's discouraging to say the least. I know that through my personal Saviour Jesus Christ I will triumph, but it has been a dark night for my soul. To anyone who is suffering I hate to say that you can expect more... but it's true. It's called "Cluster B" personality disorders, because they come in a Cluster. Cluster B includes: Narcissism, Anti-Social, Histrionic and Borderline Personality disorders. Each of them has sub-categories. Like Anti-Social has Psychopathy and Sociopathy... etc... etc... And what I mean when I say "they come in a cluster" is that practically all of them have 2 or more disorders at the same time. Like for example my mom has Malignant Narcissism and Borderline. And my sister has Communal Narcissism and Histrionic. And sometimes it's really hard to classify them. So the best thing to do is just call them "Cluster B". There is no actual need to classify them more than that to know who you need to avoid.
@Minneolaos

No, a narcissist and a psychopath are different beasts. When a person has both narcissistic personality disorder and antisocial personality disorder, a person is called a malignant narcissist, that's the dual diagnosis. A narcissist can act antisocially, but is not antisocial per se. A psychopath can act narcissistically, but is not a narcissist per se. These disorders are pretty similar though as both are Cluster B disorders, the malignant narcissist is the dual diagnosis, but it's not an official category. Then we also have sociopaths. Every sociopath is somewhat narcissistic. The sociopath is the most common beast out of these and the one you most likely meet on a dark alley or at some parking lot dealing drugs. A sociopath differs from a psychopath. Kanika Batra has great videos about sociopathy here on KZfaq.

Ultimately the names in the DSM5. don't matter that much. The behaviors. do. When you have a large group of people reporting the same patterns of abusive behavior, there is a need for a label and a definition, yes. Let's just say we were living with a wild tiger that kept its claws velveted, and was beautiful and tame as a kitty. And then, without warning, you realized it was actually a tiger. This comparison is derogatory to tigers, I fear. Tigers are noble beasts, not human monsters.

My ex's father was a full blown narcissist (I know he was because I had never witnessed anything like it before). I tried to slowly point out reasons why her father was a narcissist without overstepping. Until one time after visiting her family, I couldnt take it anymore, I had to let her know completely. She could not accept it. It was much easier to live a lie than to admit her father never actually loved her, but only saw her as utility for his own sake. It is a weird dynamic unlike anything I had ever seen. She is terrified of his every reaction, and constantly seeking his praise which he almost never gives. She walks on eggshells around him. But at the same time he has convinced her that she can't live or do anything without him. I have been around controlling people, he was next level beyond anything I knew existed. He tried to tell me what parking spot to park in hahahaha. That is not gonna fly, I have a basic rule with men. I do not try to control you, you do not try to control me. I do NOT like being manipulated/controlled. I grew up in a caring, albeit crazy, family so I had no idea this level of evil existed in what would seem like a normal family. When I first met the guy, he was charming, charismatic, and very talkative. It took me a couple hours before I sensed something was off. Then it only became more and more obvious even with his charismatic front.

I instituted strict no contact about 2 years ago and have kept it faithfully. She writes me a lot trying to get me to break n.c. and I do feel her soul being crushed and tormented by the evil spirit inside her. Yep, same here. I dated a vulnerable narc for 18 months. Been watching these videos, and was shocked to know I'm dealing with such a person. I thought I knew what narcissism was. I was wrong until I got educated. I feel betrayed and angry with myself for letting it go on for so long. The levels of manipulation, inconsistencies, contradictions, hypocrisies, drama and chaos are off the charts. I don't attract women of her caliper, because she is high maintenance and comes from money so I felt honored to have such a PRIZE but turns out, she isnt worth dealing with and the relationship ended. She had new supply lined up after the discard. Shows me the true character of who I was dating. A soulless parasite.

When I was experiencing this narcissism was not known about. Self preservation took care of me, I managed to get out with my child alive. I moved interstate & regularly. He destroyed me, physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually & financially. He even tried to come back years later while still affecting my life. Thanks Danish for your straight talking & comprehension of this insanity.

I’m currently dealing with a narcissistic boss. When I first found out about her, she became more aggressive with her tactics. But, I just didn’t care about anything she threw at me because I knew her number. She continued her aggression to the point where she couldn’t do anything more, and then she finally left me alone. Turnover is very high in my team. So, I’m just waiting for my time to deliver the final blow. Just want her to know she messed with the wrong person.

I've never heard the term Drip Supply but that is what I instinctively did. I found Grey Rock was extremely dangerous for me because my now ex-husband would escalate things to dangerous levels. He could not permit a peaceful routine coexist in our lives. When I sensed him doing increasing things to provoke me, rather than ignore him, I would let it go a while, then when I saw he was accelerating, I gave him a response big enough satisfy his need to have 'pushed my buttons' even though I wasn't particularly upset. I was trying to avoid the bigger stuff that awaited if I did not show a reaction. Drip Supply.

As I'm trying my best to exit my narc marriage I've seen this drastic intensity. I've been to jail twice over DV charges because he expected me to take all the abuse I was getting. That was back in July and August. He knows there's no turning back and he's playing with my life by not leaving and I'm not leaving my children with him. He's a great dad but I wouldn't put it past him to do something to hurt me. He's placed protection orders against me even though the judge seen why I would need one they granted it to him because I physically defended myself. Now he's purchased a gun. I feel the courts have let me down as I've tried to get placed into shelters with no hope. One thing about me that he knows is I'm going to fight you every single time and if I have too die defending myself then I will at this point because nobody else cared enough to protect me. I just know the moment I feel slightly threatened I'm doing what I have to do to survive. I've documented EVERYTHING so the courts can't say a damn thing but I'm sorry for not helping you but him. Once I become a doctor in psychiatry I'm going to help women like me who deal with this abuse with no one to have their backs. People act like we're crazy for staying not understanding that our finances have been abused too.

Well and good to say "Don't let them take you by surprise" but my narc ex-husband did things I could never foresee a human doing. We signed a separation agreement and we were both satisfied with it. He told me he was giving it to his lawyer to file with the courts, saving me that legal cost. I waited and waited for the confirming paperwork. Nothing. Finally on December 1st I get paperwork that is a separation agreement that left me with nothing but the shirt on my back and order to vacate our jointly owned house in 3 weeks, the day before Christmas Eve! This is totally legal where I live in Canada. In order to fight it, I would have to file my own separation agreement to counter it which meant getting a lawyer just before Christmas to draft up another document. I could not find a lawyer who would work that fast but God saved the day! I found he had lied on the financial disclosure and in fact had several hidden bank accounts. So I said, "No, just leave it as is and I'll see you in court. I want a judge to see the guy who would throw his wife out just before Christmas and have hidden bank accounts." He had to pay almost $1000 to get his lawyer to cancel that first separation agreement before it went to court. I filed the original separation agreement and left him.

Not crazy. Have you ever watched Ingrid Bergman in 'Gaslight?' Another fan fave of mine, if you can go beyond suspense into horror is 'Rosemary's Baby' If you want something more modern, theres 'Midsomer.' They are all perfect tales of gaslighting, (of course) manipulation, machiavellianism, deception and sadism. There is nothing wrong about any of the main characters except there are crazy people using them.

My son is a Grandiose Narcissist- I was so confused by his behaviour for the past twenty years - his actions & words increased is disrespect, abusive worse & worse. Questions weren’t answered or stonewalled or redirected at me with rocket fuel force. He kept saying to me - you are unable to learn, you keep repeating inappropriately - you’re not listening- he was gaslighting me constantly and I was in a whirlwind of frustration, dismay, hurt, asking myself what is going on. When the Light of his gaslighting illuminated his Narcissism everything may sense. That was only the beginning- I’ve had a terrible time getting away - he’s so crafty - got baited a few time but now I’ve blocked him everywhere. I am looking to move so he won’t be able to ambush me. Thank you for all your videos So Empowering!!!

They are a basket case when they know "you" know. They get very scared, nervous, and anxious. They also know that they can't count on you anymore and if they plead, whine, and cry and ask for your help, and you don't give it to them, and when you say you are fed up, they don't think you have the right to be angry.

They believe they are always RIGHT. When you DONT buy into their s**t they use the guilt trip, or blame shift constantly. When I set better boundaries, my ex pointed out reasons why she shouldn't date me. Keep in mind when I tried to leave the relationship she hoovered back each time so I knew I must of held some value if she was gonna guilt me and NOT end the relationship herself. It was fun for her to devalue, blame, and guilt me into submission each time. It's a game to these personality types.

It took until my mid-seventies to finally figure out that my sister is a covert narcissist. WOW! What a relief! My entire life I had been trying to coach her, help her, and she resisted everything. I saw her financially destroy her "sugar daddy" and she tried with me, but something just seemed "off" and I was guarded. I bought groceries instead of giving her cash. But Dad used to give her $20 just to go away! 🤣 I went "no contact" last month. It's sad, but I am glad I lived to the day I figured her out. Everything makes sense now! Ty!

I can so relate to what you're saying. With mine I found out that he had been dating someone for 4 months at the same time as dating me. It was her that realized it first. At our age we don't meet in the parking lot and rumble. If anything we decided to have fun with it. We knew he was out of town so we went to his boat where he lives and took selfies on his bed then posted it on Facebook. After that went out for dinner and waited for the show to begin. After him realizing what had happened, then things got more intense with begging me to stay. Was not going to happen. Later I agreed to meet with him and got on his phone and noticed he had sent a message to his daughter laughing about the two of us and that we both were fighting to get him back. It just affirmed to me what he was all about. Even with him showing up with a big engagement ring, I was not going to break. Needless to say he told me to keep the ring and think about it so I can honestly say I have a really nice ring and no did not marry him. You just have to stay strong and see it for what it really is. He even tried to threaten me by showing pictures of me changing that he had taken one day to his friends. That did not work in his behalf at all as I contacted his friend's wife and explain the situation and she shut that down. He does have a new victim now and as much as I would love to warn her, it's in my best interest to stay out of it. So to all people reading this, there is a big light at the end of this tunnel and you need to allow yourself to see it! My heart goes out to everyone.

I made the mistake of discrediting everyone who told me that my narc ex was in fact a narc. I tried to rationalize behaviors, to understand, to communicate with them... Only to find out that they took my biggest fears and threw them in my face. They showed zero remorse for showing their true face to me, while pretending to everyone else, that I was the bad guy. It's been a few years and I'm still trying to work through the trauma of it all. Meanwhile, they are living their best life, moved on with someone else, and act like there never was a "we". Wish that I knew then, what I know now. I could have saved myself the worst heartbreak. Wasted so much time loving someone unworthy of even like.

Mine was a complete phantom. Her name was Meghan (so she said), told me she was 25. One time hanging around her family her mom referenced to her last 27th birthday to someone else, which I overheard and didn’t act like I heard it. I could feel this energy like she brought something up she wouldn’t have. Meghan quickly changed subject. I thought it was weird but maybe just a hiccup in her mom’s brain. To her family she was 28, to me she was 25 (I was younger), and to my friends her age would float between them. I noted it but didn’t bring it up. She was well traveled, used to be a flight attendant. Went to India and fell in love with yoga and being a yogi. White woman with head wraps and beads everyday. Nothing wrong with that but she definitely put on that character since looking at her older photos. She also had moved a lot (like major moves, San Franscisco- Texas- DC- Peru- India- Korea etc) That was a red flag that she could never settle down in one place. Made me feel like she was running or hiding from something. I could tell she had a very colorful past but she never wanted to talk about it, even all the cool places she’d been. The next flag was a beach day where her sister called her by a name I had never heard before (I can’t even remember the name but it wasn’t Meghan nor her middle name / nicknames). It was something so different I was blown when I saw her respond. Again, I was far enough away playing soccer that they thought I couldn’t hear. But I was so hyper vigilant at this point that my ears were perked 24/7. That one really set me off. Her sister was a hairdresser and she used to always talk about how dumb and superficial it was as a career (acting all deep and spiritual). Years later after leaving her she is now a hairdresser and has completely changed identities, once again. No wraps, no mala beads, and bleaching and cutting women’s hair. Again, nothing wrong with that, but it made me realize she just put on a personality to fit what she thought I wanted when really I’m a dude, idc do what you want. She also met me over Instagram. She did all the pursuing, slid into my dms and arranged to meet. Huge red flag now. Lord knows how long she had been stalking me after my previous break up. These people pretend to be the hunters. Instead of hunting their goals tackling challenges and problems the world faces, the hunt people and see them as a challenge to dominate them. These people will waste every last drop of your energy and do nothing with it. They’ll eat chips and fall asleep in their own drool with the energy you give them. Just thought I’d share some insights and red flags looking back in hindsight. Be safe out here. If I could go back and give my younger self one piece of advice it would be to never ignore your gut/heart feelings. Your body will be screaming at you. You will feel old, tired, exhausted, choked, numb, dissociative, rageful, annoyed. The coverts are especially difficult because what you see never matches the energy you feel from them. Mine was usually smiley and loud, unless there wasn’t a big group around, but I’d feel dead and exhausted. She’d always want to be at my house the second I got home from work. Which at first I thought was cute until I realized she was trying to suffocate me and give me no alone time. My lease was running out and she was talking about moving in together. That’s when I really started thinking about my exit. I figured out a new roommate situation temporarily without telling any of my friends/roommates. Moved out when my roommates (friends with the narc) were gone on a trip. I stayed in the new place for a month before moving states too. I literally couldn’t be around any of my friends because they were all her spies it was fucked. It took me years to digest all that happened. You’ll look back at lovey doves texts and want to vomit. It was never real, remember that.

I was with my partner for 6 years and the 1st 5 years was intense love-bombing and wonderful sex from her. On the 5th year, I became aware of NPD and started observing her personality and eventually, confirmed my suspicions. When I started to draw boundaries by not allowing her to check my mobile phone and being more vocal instead of agreeing with her all the time, she "demoted" my status in the relationship to "friend"/"family member" status and just a bed-mate without any intimacy. It's her way of punishing me, ignoring my presence , minimal contact and being away the whole day only back in the evenings for bed. She is doing power play with me and to let me know who is in control in the relationship. Basically, isolating me completely. I am still living with her but slowly planning my exit as I need to untangle all the links we have had i.e. finances, properties, etc.... I am now using the grey-rock method to distance myself from her.

I just never, even after all that time, never expected such a calculated campaign of sadistic revenge. X must have enjoyed it very much. It was a virtuoso performance. Hats off to X. You are so right with having PTSD! I was diagnosed with PTSD, depression, anxiety and with a Narcissist husband of 30+years together & married he has tried to have my life taken away so many times!! Being financially dependent with him and disabled is the hardest thing that holds me back!! He’s getting ready to make the worse of the worse for me and I need to be ready!! Abuse of everything I’ve ever gone through my life with him is unmanageable and scary!! I pray every single day and night for help and I hope I’m not to late 😢🙏🏼

My sister is a full blown pathological liar. She's 40 years old and lies to family members that we pick on her. When she's caught out in her lies, she literally has no shame in her face! She seeks attention from everyone 24/7 and I don't understand why she has such a fan base of family and friends who side with her, even though she's known as someone who doesn't have a moral compass... Its crazy!
