Wish me luck...I'm weak...however, I'm going for this because, I'm getting sick as he!!, lol...I'm 61 & have always been thin, active etc. But, I've abused my body by eating everything & anything sugar, sugar & more sugar... I went from a health nut, in working out, eating healthy etc., until I had a serious life changing injury. Causing me 3 serious back surgeries/ fusions...hardware in & hardware out. I became addicted to pain medication, starting eating anything I wanted. At least for a time. Because, now I'm suffering. Prayers are needed...thank you guys... God Bless...

Same, but with coffee...but the timing is really great, in my case. It's literally the hottest day of the year today (so far), where I live, I have nothing to eat (or coffee) in the house and not even my insane craving for one is worth, venturing outside in this heat 😆😂 Like, seriously. I couldn't have that planned any better.

Just finished my second fast. First was 48 hours and the second was 72. Training is key to avoiding misery. I started off keto, then fasted after a couple of weeks and went to 2 meals a day shrinking to one a day before fasting again. Going to transition from Omad to one every other day and fast again in a few weeks. I’ve been obese since 10 years old and after finding this knowledge and applying it my fat is melting off and Im feeling better than I have in my life!

"Training is key to avoiding misery" - true, but if you train during your fasting, you spend energy for exercise and that energy isn't used to eliminate toxins. Feeling miserable during a fast is actually a good sign - it means you are detoxifying.

This video talks about exactly the things I had some questions on. Thank you so much! Over the last 6-7 months I’ve lost 30kg+, lowered my blood pressure 10 points, and dropped my HbA1c below 5 by being on a low carb diet with 20:4 intermittent fasting, and walking 10km daily. Your other videos have helped a lot - for example knowing to keep below 120bpm while walking for fat loss, or knowing that for practical purposes, coffee with a little cream while fasting doesn’t significantly disrupt the fast. Your content in this video is a bit technical but I think to be really in control of our diets, people need to know this so they can make informed decisions about what/when to eat and how to exercise. I am getting ready to move on from the weight-loss phase to maintenance, so the last few minutes of the video were exactly what I needed. I will follow your tips, and hopefully I won’t rebound. I really love your straight forward, logical explanations. I wish the content were also available in Japanese so I could share it with all my friends here. I know the science around autophagy is still developing, but once I reach my weight loss goal, I think my focus with diet and fasting, in addition to weight maintenance, will switch to trying to reap the benefits of autophagy. I would love to see content about that. I suppose there is no easy way for people to confirm that they are in autophagy. I've done 48 hour fasts, but I haven't tried longer ones yet. It feels a bit intimidating, but I suppose to a lot of people who haven't done daily intermittent fasting, even 16:8 may seem intimidating.

I tried during last years many diets, (vegan, vegetarian, 10 small meal per day etc..) but finally I understand how the body really works and what is best for me! I am on KETO/low carb for a month now (it was hard from the start) and I have best result ever! Feel like a young bull again! hehe :) my body feels like a new, my problems with slow regeneration disappeared, my sleep improve astronomically, I have from the morning strong energy, I had a problem wake up @9/10 every day but for last 2 weeks I wake up @ 6-7 full of energy, whole day stable strong energy ! its just unbelievable how simple it is when you know what to do!! !Fat,protein, no carb no sugar - these 2 killing me / slow me down during the years. As I love to consume many fruits, 2l of juice every day, lot of pasta and rise, cookies, ect... I have lost 7kg per last month just a side effect(174cm/68kg now), I can again train for full-throttle - playing tennis since 5y. Now I can without problem have a workout at the morning, do some running during lunch break, and still do without problem 2hs afternoon tennis training and 30mins of Yoga before sleep time. Also my concentration, focus improve a lot, same with the stamina - like +500% mindblowing!! Thank you one more time for all yours videos, sharing the knowledge with us! You changed my way of life !

Hi there Libor. And I'll copy this to Sten's General presentation above. Question to you, as with all obese people, How did you let the obesity grow? Despite all of our life's problems thrown at us, why was your weakest link, like millions of people, to allow your body to become insulin resistant? Why don't people wake up the next day or in a weeks time and shriek back from the mirror, or those clothes that don't fit anymore getting too tight and not go into a panic attack!!. I've never confronted a person with that question as it would be unpredictable their reactions. I've personally stayed the same weight all my life, yet I'm learning all the time about:-1. My own body and 2. Absorbing important healthy eating and lifestyle facts from people like Sten. Sten doesn't really go into the divine subject of "listening to your body - how it reacts to the bad and good things you do and wat" I mean just only listening to it. Your body is it's own pharmacy too. Yeh I know that's another big subject if discussed openly. Thanks for reading my ideas...G

For example if you have to have carbs you try sweet potatoes or pumpkin in the beginning but you try to wean yourself off of them. The fat will keep you saturated and noz hungry. I feel better, my joint pain is gone, I can bend down and tie my shoes and I feel generally well. My wife's blood sugar has -- she's diabetic -- consistently stayed 105 and below ... and usually is in the 60 to 70 range mid day -- she's thrilled and looks forward to a day when she's off Metformin and Glypizide. I think we're on the right track. I'll keep on for one more week and then try a 24 or 36 hour fast to see what happens. Thank you Dr. Ekberg.

Thanks so much, Dr, as always! May I suggest to cover in some other video how to start eating again after a long fasting period, say for instance, 4-5 days fasting. I did it once, many years ago, inspired by a book: 4 days without food, and then I had a "normal" - for me at that time (19 years old) breakfast, and I ate way too much. I was visiting my family in the south and they were like: boy, you have to eat. After that breakfast I spent like 2hours where I felt I was going to have a heart attack. Of course, now I look back and it is clear to me that that wasn't the best way to break the fast... I wonder if some people may make the same mistake I did. Thanks, again, Dr.

Thank you so much Dr Ekberg for this careful and helpful explanation! I have been strictly following your keto and IF 18/6 (incl two OMADs) video guidance for 4 weeks, to improve my health generally and specifically to reduce inflammation in joints and improve my lagging brain function, and hoping to also lose weight (am slightly obese)--so I'm keen to get onto these longer fasts. However, this week I notice a return of hunger pangs and cravings, after having thought I'd left them behind! so I'm suspecting I am not really fat adapted yet. Would you recommend waiting a few more weeks before trying these longer fasts, until the signs are more clear that I am truly fat adapted? Many thanks if you can offer a suggestion! Thanks Dr. Sten Ekberg for the great videos. Could you do one on breaking a fast. OMAD up to 5 days can be tricky for some people to break a fast. I remember when I first started, I would eat a ton of vegetables...raw salads and gave myself sibo for over a month..it was awful. Your gut does become so sensitive since you lose the mucus lining when you give it a rest. I always would get diarrhea at end of fast...what worked for me is having a liquid meal 5 hours before I broke my fast. Bone broth soothes the gut and that has really worked for me! Since dairy, nuts, raw vegetable are all to much when breaking a fat, I also may have a bit of coconut yogurt (non dairy yogurt) make it into a smoothie with collagen powder and protein powder. I also may have a few sips of ginger juice mixed with electrolytes or kombucha to prep the gut. Then, when I get to my non-liquid 2ncd meal, I have scallops or salmon with some cooked vegetables...something light and lean at first. I have also extended a fast by just have bone broth and fat for a full day and that also helps. I know everyone is different but I would love to hear your process of breaking a fast.

There’s so many videos on how to break a fast, and that it is almost as important as the fast itself-the best is not to do it with carbs, and to take time with food-you cannot really go bavk to eating normal meals after a week of not eating. I personally like bone broth and sauerkraut just tuny amounts of food slowly chewing and eating and slowly adding food-like kefir and anything that has live bacteria. My main meal was avocado mashed with scrambled egg on coconut oil. Thank god I didn’t have any issues,I was fasting for 8 days. Took another 3 to get back to regular(ish) meals

I stopped because the craving for salt was bad (I was eating salt near the end as that's what I craved) It was amazing, I've tried it a few times since but make it to about 4-5 days and snap out of it.
