My daughter used to play pick up ball with the men at the gym every Saturday morning. They were very supportive and she learned a lot. She became very good at passing and shooting under pressure. It helped her to grow as a player by leaps and bounds. It also did wonders for her confidence. She knew that if she was able to score on guys that playing against the girls in high school would be easy for her.

Long time ago when I was in college we were playing pick up games in the gym and the girls basketball team came in to try and run. I'm a big guy and I was kind of fat at the time and somehow I ended up guarding the point guard. I'm playing soft cuz I'm not sure what to do at this point and she makes two three pointers. The third shot she takes I send six rows into the stands and I got booed by everybody in the gym 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. These were scholarship girls getting beaten by a bunch of random dudes.

I remember I competed in a dodgeball tournament in 10th grade. My team was pretty terrible but we were there just for fun essentially. We ended up making it a little longer than we thought and beat two teams. We’re in the quarterfinals and our team is comprised of mostly guys, save two women. One of the females (I’ll call her Becca) was tough as nails and volunteered, but the other (I’ll call her Madison) was just her friend and only signed up when she heard that Becca signed up. Now Madison had already pissed off everyone on the team because we had a team limit of 6 people, and we already had a full team, but she somehow (to this day I still don’t know) made one of the guys on our team bail so she could be in. So here we are in the quarterfinals and we end up losing the first of two possible rounds. Madison had been taking an extremely passive role through the entirety of this competition and at this point, she stopped being useful as what we were using her for, which was basically canon fodder. Our opponents were actually smart and tried to go for the people on our team who were actually good, so this time Madison was left on her own and she lost. We were given a 5 minute break and we all tell her that she needs to be more involved and if we wanna win, we all have to play the same roles and put forth the same effort. So she took this to heart I guess and when the next game started, she immediately rushed to grab a ball and pelt someone with it. Well, turns out, it didn’t go so well for her and one of the first balls that was thrown, hits her right in the face. It was a massive hit, and she falls on the ground and tries to make a big show of it but we continue to play. After a solid 10 seconds with nobody caring, she stands up, runs at the guy on the other team who threw the ball, and punches him right in the mouth. She was immediately In a load of trouble with the school and our team was also disqualified because we were a player down. The best part about all this is that the first time we saw Madison after the tournament (a week or so afterwards because she was suspended) the first thing she says is that she was mad at us for not sticking up for her. Don’t know why this reminded me of that gold quality story, but a TL;DR is when women play a sport with men, they need to understand that their is most definitely a skill issue and they will be rolled beyond belief.
