It's a very different console from the consoles that are out now, so it will be interesting to see. I try out some games, movies, and check out the main menu and playstation store.

This reminds me of my old friends on PS3 I remember running home from school to play with these 4 guys they were the best friends ever. Every now and then I turn on my PS3 and all I see is "Last online 7 years ago" "Last online 8 years ago" "Last online 5 years ago" Just makes you think of all those tears of laughter you cried playing together as kids and now you just wonder if they're ok ? If they're married ? If they forgot out our memories and forgot me

If you can't afford a ps4 5 years after it came out then you've got serious spending problems. A new ps4 slim costs around 300USD and a new original ps4 costs 250, half what it was in 2014. And a new ps4 pro is just shy of 400. And the prices only get lower if you buy used. If you can afford the phone/pc/tablet you used to watch this video, you can easily afford any ps4

@@VanHallen52 Not when you want/need a PlayStation 3 console that supports backwards-compatibility with physical PlayStation 2 games, even though I already an original PlayStation 2 model to play them on. Regardless, I just think the original models look sleeker and cooler than the newer models like the one used in this video. There is a thing called "refurbished stuff" since perhaps whatever problems you're referring to are most likely fixable, so I'll have to see what decent equipment I can find whenever I become fully interested in PlayStation 3 gaming. I believe my original SCPH-30001 PlayStation 2 (which I received for Christmas in 2013) is also a refurbished model, even though it stopped reading CD-ROM discs in 2014, which I fortunately got repaired at my local retro game store. I've been able to play PS1 and PS2 games on CD-ROM again on the same model since then.

I bought mine for $50 last year and in the recent months bought up all the games I wanted to play on the system for super cheap. I try to focus on games that have not been ported or remastered on the PS4. It's a fantastic budget console. Also great for starting a little video game collection since many games are readily available in stores.

Same well one of the systems I mainly use(also got my GameCube, Switch, OG Xbox, 360 and PS4), I missed out on alot of games last Gen so I been playing catch up while they are cheap. Right now I been juggling between Folklore, Demons souls on a private fan server, Oblivion, Fallout 3, Persona 5 and Ni No Kuni currently

Still got my PS3. Best thing about the PS3 was Playstation Home and Import games which you can play on a US PS3 without a Mod and can play on any account.

@@beastyasian_2138 Yeah,, sadly a lot of individual game servers have shut down. But it is still free for non server and active games which is still legitimate selling point. I refuse to pay for PS+ and stopped paying for XBLgold years ago so never took the newer systems online as a result. and never will so long as it's subscription based.

Oh btw, if you're gonna play PS1 games on the PS3, it's the best way to do it especially when you have an HDTV. You can do it on the PS2 through component cables, but it doesn't look all that great to be honest.

I just went back to my PS3 to play Sleeping Dogs, on New Year's Day 2019! I got that game for a very low price on a PS Store flash sale back in the middle of 2018, and it had been sitting in my backlog since. I had to go through those updates for the system and the game, which really sucks now that it's better on PS4. I have been enjoying the game, so far. My friend on PSN told me that he planned on buying a PS3, because his old one died a long time ago and that there are better games on PS3 than on PS4. Just after Christmas 2018, he used his Amazon gift money to buy a used PS3. He also told me that he wants to start streaming old games on PC and on PS1-3.

I think if he really wanted to test something, it would be online multiplayer and see what games still support it and are active. The test he did outside the ps store would have the same result if he did this in 3019, provided the console still worked of course

I have both a PS3 slim and original PS3 60GB backwards compatible unit. I tore them both down to clean and replace the thermal material since it was bone dry. It might help with speed and fan noise. Not sure what I'm going to do with them, but I agree they are slow. I have The Force Unleashed as the sole game, but might pick up GT6 for fun. Cheap entertainment at least.

What happens when you play PS3 in 2018? Well it plays the same as always. Nothing substantial will happen obviously. Though one of the downsides for me is that I can't use my headphones to listen to the game audio. Because PS4 allows headphones for everything, it made playing games a lot better for me tbh. I've become reliant on headphones for everything in this day and age. And because of that, I can't see myself playing games without headphones anymore. Either that, or I have to turn my volume low as f so I don't disturb my family.

Well it did have more games, a debatably better average in quality. Latter half of it's life got a bit shovelware during the overlap with other systems. Also the best selling game console ever so there's that.

I have been constantly playing with PS2 ( the fat model ) since 2002 and one of friends recently gave me her PS3 ( the fat one ) as a Christmas gift . I have been blown away by the graphics when I play with my sports games . And thought I'm still getting used to PS3 after using it for 2 weeks , I still have those love affair for PS2 . So , I'll be playing with both , PS2 in my room and PS3 in the den . I love them both !

You can play PS2 games on a Slim (all models actually) you just need to have custom firmware. It's really easy to install CFW on the PS3 too.

They do still make Indie games for PS3... Same with PSVita... They both lost mainstream support but Indie developers still produce games for them

I bought mine in 2009, 10 years ago, still works fine, only had problems with the power supply and synching of the controllers, other than that there was no problem, the issue with the controllers started in 2015, had them fixed, no trouble since then

To celebrate the upcoming new year I played on my N64. Anyone that is wondering what television is compatible with N64 nowadays, it's Life's Good. You can use the original A/V cable that the N64 came with. The colors look beautiful.

PS3 Community is definitely still alive. After I jailbreak mine I'm going to be disabling mods for lobbies to ensure that BO2,MW2 and MW are preserved a little while longer. Maybe even WaW.

I still have my original PS3 (not the "slim") set up under my TV and still play it regularly. I still have a ton of PS3 games that I never finished, and a few that I never started, lol (same with Xbox games). And, yes, I still buy PS3 games from the PS Store occasionally. I actually prefer the PS3 menu system over the PS4 menu system...

I really enjoy playing games on the PS3. It is also a great system to help me watch my favorite movies and TV shows on DVD and Blu-Ray. The games are even fun to play. Not to mention you can play PS1 games on disc as well.

I can't see any issues with the PS3 in 2019. It's now almost in the heady company of Retro consoles. I have several for backup purposes and it has fine games. Great console. Just keep it updated. To speed up 'net access for the store simply run the " Test your internet" connection utility, that , for some reason, speeds up access for that gaming session, and also make sure you're PS3 or PS4 is NOT set to NAT 3. This works for both PS3 and PS4 by the way.

I still play BOIII on my PS3 only problem is, it has developed a glitch were when i go to shoot someone, my guy starts automatically changing his weapons and then decides to go jumping about the place .It is now becoming unplayable : (

Still have my ps3 connected to my main TV. Haven't played it in a while coz trying to work through my ps4 catalogue but I used to play it fairly regularly even after I had ps4 but even to this day my wife uses ps3 for KZfaq on a daily basis and if we watch something from our dvd collection, I always go to ps3 even though there are 5 dvd compatible consoles connected to the TV.

I tried to play a regular ps4 instead of the pro since it released and I couldn't deal with those graphics, I could only imagine the ps3. I grabbed that sm bundle on black Friday and took it back, the ui is even slow on it.
