Insects are interesting to test in a vacuum chamber because they have an exoskeleton which can potentially save them from exploding in the vacuum chamber. Watch my test to see what happens. If they survive the vacuum chamber then they will be released into the wild instead of being squished.

There are 2 criteria of 'life value' of living being - its ability to feel and its profitability for living with humans. 1.If nervous system of living being allows it to actually truly feel pain then you should have serious reasons to kill it, to hurt it, to put in in vacuum chamber etc. 2.If there's a creature, which helps people by its actions/existence or at least doesn't harm them then you should have serious reasons to kill it, to hurt it, to put in in vacuum chamber etc. Now back to fly and spider. Unluckily for poor thingy, fly is a pest, with primitive nervous system. Two in one. Dude could just kill it, but instead he puts it in a chamber and EVEN let it go. He sort of rewarded insect for being a test subject. Spider may or may not be a pest. I don't know what specie this is. If it's venomous - it's unwanted guest in the house. You know the rest. This is objective. I am afraid of flycatchers for example, but I fight the fear, and try not to stomp on it while walking in the appartment. I adore dogs, but when stray dogs cause danger to people on the streets, I know it's a right thing to put them down.

Cruelty. Even though they don't recognize that we ruthlessly slaughter these guys around the world all the time without remorse. It's the same reason I think all meat eaters (like I am) be required to kill and butcher an animal, to understand where your food comes from. It's so easy to absolve one's self from guilt when all your murder comes in a nice plastic wrapped package. It's certainly a tough scenario.

No mammal or insect explodes in a vacuum. Ppl in vacuums for prolonged periods of time, e.g. 5 or 8 mins, who can be resuscitated tend to die of heart failure shortly afterwards.
