Great show. You now have my son watching. He was forced to listen to a previous show where John was expressing his love for Black Hawk. You had him rolling. While watching today’s episode, he suddenly bursts into laughter. Confused, I ask what’s so funny. He noticed John’s “Giant Size Man-Thing” shirt, which I didn’t even catch. Hilarious JD

agree Evan, the new CGC are really difficult to open now!! I tried my usual trick of 'slide the fingernail up until you fond the gap'...but no dice - they've actually started to seal the books into the case these days! Can you imagine the CGC meeting where the new kid raises their hand and says 'I have a suggest sir, could we shut the case so people can't slip the book out????'...to see the disbelief in the older guys eyes would have been priceless

Now that I have read that Doom book and know that Galactus is the villain, the whole "George Perez variant with Galactus" makes more sense now.

Thanks for discussing my “why do Superman and the Flash always race” comment! You’re absolutely right, it’s meant to be fun and it’s refreshing when stories are written with a hint of not-taking-themselves-so-seriously. I just think it’s funny :)

I didn't know Invincible appeared in Marvel Team-Up, so I read it on Marvel Unlimited. Great issue, I LOLed at the names joke when they got to the Avengers' tower. Kirkman always delivers. Very nice art, too.

i have sent hundreds of books in for CGC grading and have never gotten above a 9.8. Just got back a 50 book modern submission and got six 9.9s. What?!?! Strange things are afoot at the old CGC.

What a great show today guys. I'm happy you talked about comic fatigue because that's how I've been feeling. I still love comics but I feel like I over indulged during the pandemic, but I'm not too hard on myself for that because we all needed something to do at home during that time. I was trying to get complete a Daredevil run but ultimately feel like I should part with a big chunk of it. I would love to keep going if I had my own house but I currently don't. Also you're right John. I feel like collecting should depend on your financial capacity. I'm 32, taking care of a sick parent, living with them and saving my cash for property in LA (yikes) I'm just gonna trim the comic hedges a little more now, be very particular of what goes in and out of the collection and keep saving until I buy a home which is more important. I might have the itch to complete a Daredevil run but maybe now is not the time. I appreciate a comfortable space to live in without clutter and a great savings account with high interest 😂 Time to take things a little slower in the comic realm. Also, great having Evan talk about DC. You guys barely give DC love 😜 lol I currently have a complete run of firestorm and that's staying in the PC. Also .. BRING EVAN BACK! 😂 love Ladinobajista

@@VolkswagenGamer yeah dude. I've been pretty knee deep in it. Ive bee in the process of finishing the uncanny X-Men run too from 93 onward but it's pretty tough to keep justifying. Thing is when I started I acquired large chunks lots of uncanny and felt like I was too far in to say no lol

I also collected Firestorm and that got me looking more into DC after that. Still didn't collect too many but Teen Titans and Firestorm were in my pull list at that time.

John mentioning Broderick leaving Micronauts for Firestorm reminds me of the time I re-sorted my collection chronologically. So a section for each year, then the books together by month. And while I don't recommend that, given that you can't find anything ever again, it is interesting to see everything that was on the stands kinda at the same time. When you buy a lot of stuff as back issues you don't really catch what books were contemporary with each other. On Blood Hunt, from what I've seen Blade isn't talking in his usual fashion, so I think he's possessed or something.

@@EvanNave The other minor benefit is the reduction is "box shift", since new books always go at the end, but later figuring out what book is in which box is a nightmare. So interesting experiment but not recommended, lol.

Great show guys! You didn’t mention the inciting incident of the Doom book blowing up (to my knowledge) is people realizing that Sanford Greene was paying homage to deceased rapper “MF DOOM.” I’m pretty sure people (like me) were not aware of this at FOC time, so it was underordered with that steep cover price and in super high demand on week of release. Not saying it’s a good hold long term necessarily but there is more to this book than meets the eye. There is already prior solo Doom series from a few years back that would be a more solid pure Doom spec as that was the first solo series.

Anyone ever play Rampage? As soon as John showed that Ape cover, that’s the first thing that came to mind. As for Doom, I got the 1:50 Hildebrandt on eBay for $26 which is less than the A cover is going for.

Regarding Diana Prince, while now we can look back on the era with affection (and don’t get me wrong I’m a fan, I own the Diana Prince omnibus), I can imagine at the time when you think this change is forever, why fans & feminists (mainly Gloria Steinem) took issue with the Wonder Woman losing her powers, the amazons packed off to another dimension and losing her uniform to run a Boho fashion store with a older man to teach & guide Diana (I Ching) would have felt reductive of both the characters legacy and iconography at a time when Diana was about the only super powered woman on the newsstands. We can look back with nostalgia now, but can see how it would have had a lot of fans up in arms, hell I stopped reading Wonder Woman for the entirety of the New 52 I was so angry at the changes made, that said, I now own that era in omnibus form too. 🤦🏼‍♂️📚

Zeck, Ditko, Sutton, Larson, Aparo,Newton, Staton and many other artists for Charlton horror and then there's many more for hero, sci-fi, romance, and more... but the horror has a lots of hidden gems... some really good material that is overlooked and much harder to find in good shape or especially high grade... look at the census for these books... just non existant...
