You're probably gonna laugh at me but you're probably right. I wanted and really wanted to start smoking bcz all my neighbours around me smoke and they have a great time (including me) after we finish helping them on their field work But yea, they all smoke and they're all like: 'Ugh this feeling of smoking after a good work." So I tried and tried and tried for few years now (basically buying a pack of cigarette every 2nd or 3rd month) and I smoked 'artificially' because I did not like it and everytime I get either numb or I wanna throw up (feeling nausea). I still sometimes ask someone to give a cigarette just to try but I always feel nauseous. That is preventing me from starting smoking. I probably wasted 100 $ just trying to smoke, never enjoying it. I do train and run, so maybe my lungs don't accept tar and nicotine, can't say.

Gon Freecss It must be hard for you to quit when everyone around is smoking but using vapes also introduce you to usinhlg cigar smoking in the long run. It would be a good idea to tell everyone around you that you've experience difficulty breathing as an alibi. If they really care then they wouldn't tell you to do smoking. I am not a doctor btw, however try to lessen the use of artificial smoking. It'll help you quitting and you'll avoid the withdrawal effects of it.

The worst part about quitting for me was the feeling of loss. Like a part a part of my being was gone and i had nothing to replace it with. I feared this feeling would last for ever. I have good news for you trying to quit, the feeling doesn't last forever. A day will come when you go to bed and notice you haven't thought about smoking the whole day and you don't feel empty inside. When this day arrived for me i just laughed abit to my self and thought, "Huh, guess i'm not a smoker anymore".

@@brunoderkameramann3989 I used to envy my friends who never smoked that they didn't have the craving for a cigarette. But then I thought that they don't have a craving for it as I do not have a craving for heroine for example, I'm sure there are addicts out there envying me for that. That thought helped me battling the cravings when they arrived and they eventually disappeared, but sometimes the thought of "let's just have ONE for the party" comes in. Don't do it!

I don't get why people have to make such a big thing of quitting smoking. If you are motivated you'll be over it in a week: after that you no longer crave physically but you have to be aware of not falling back into the habit.

Congrats! I'm really happy for you that your husband decided to help you. I always admire those who beat their addiction. Knowing it's possible to fix your life knowing there's people out there that have done what I thought was impossible gives me hope I will make it through as well. Those who share their experiences don't know how much it helps when you're about to give up, it gives you the strength knowing somone who actully know what it's like to go through this tell you it's possible, it's not the same somone telling you you can do it when they have no idea what it's like, but hearing somone who knows what it's like that helps a lot since you understand it firsthand and made it out gives so much hope. so thanks for sharing.

In this boat. 30 years of multiple packs a day. Sadly I already screwed myself permanently as I have early stage emphysema. Cant do much without being unable to breath. I had childhood asthma which I outgrew, and as a typical teen thought I was invincible and began smoking and the decades just flew by. I didnt realize how bad my lungs were until it was way too late. I was trying to shovel a driveway last winter and I couldnt shovel more than 1 minute without having to sit down, and even sitting it would take 5-10 minutes to catch mybreath. Little by little through the years my stamina would shrink and I just didnt pay attention until it was so bad that it was hard to not notice. Always told myself I'd quit when I needed to or that I would notice the effect on my body and deal with it but I simply didn't notice until the damage was long done and mostly irreversible. I'll be yet another statistic in roughly 10-15 years.

I just recently quit, so I'm gonna share how I did it in case the same works for somebody else...i grabbed a sealed pack and didn't open it, as a matter of fact, it's still here sealed after like 7 days, i grabbed a notebook and a pen and I wrote "don't smoke" over and over everytime the urge to smoke came back...I probably wrote the sentence "don't smoke" about 150+ times, but i caught the nicotine addiction early on, so maybe for someone more addicted you would have to write way more, i also sometimes looked at David Goggins face in the book "can't hurt me" as if that "jesus is looking" meme except...it was david goggins 😂 so yeah, tldr.: 1. pack of cigarretes sealed close to me,never opened them; 2.wrote "don't smoke" nonstop everytime i got the urge to smoke (this was definitely the most impactful step) 3. I looked at David Goggins face as if he was literally judging me (for me it was David Goggins, you can use literally any athlete or hard minded person you admire for this) HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEBODY

I’ve been a smoker since college days until now. Starting in 2012 so about 10 years give or take. Im currently on day 3 of quitting. I still feel urges to smoke quite a bit and noticing that I have more time on my hands. It’s a weird feeling to not smoke every chance I get. Im in the process of learning what to do with the new time on my hands and pouring it into something productive. I’ve tried quitting before but this time I’m taking it seriously. Just know if you’re struggling trying to quit I’m right there with you, but I’m already proud of myself. If you a real smoker like I was then you know how proud you are to go 1 day without, less known 3. Let’s make it to a month together🤜🏼

When I struggle I constantly repeat to myself “it’s never gonna be any easier to resist than right now” Still have to be very mindful of staying away from triggers but I’m determined to make it to 6 months and see if the cravings completely vanish. Coming back to this video to thank the creator. I didn’t smoke cigarettes but vaped for 7 years starting when I was 16. I’m now 18 months vape free :) To anyone who is on the fence or is planning on quitting: just do it. Life will suck for a while, I won’t sugarcoat it. But once you’re through it, it’s over. I have no more breathing issues, no more heart palpitations, and my anxiety levels dropped like crazy. Just set your mind to it and power through. Also, when you’re done, you’ll have traded those 1-3 awful months for 10+ years added on to the end of your life. Good luck to everyone going through withdrawals. You got this.

I stopped smoking cigarettes in 2006 but have always used tobacco in my spliffs. I get through 15g a week and the same or sometimes more of weed. I'm turning 40 next month, smoked 26 years and have been 3 days with no tobacco so far but am still smoking pure weed, I'm using the weed smoke to make the nicoteen withdrawal easier as I still have a similar feeling of smoke...and at the same time I'm using a weed vape to cut down on how much I smoke. The aim is by the time I turn 40 or hopefully before to be totally smoke free. I don't currently have any intention to stop vaping cannabinoids but eventually I can move on to edibles as there won't be that addictiveness of tobacco making me smoke, I've already noticed smoking less. Mixing the tobacco and weed was lovely to taste but it was the worst idea, I'm european, we do it a lot. Anyway, because I really want it, I know I can do it.

no srsly don't search for a subtitue. do the opposite. I always took smoking a cig as sort of an a reward.. but what for? I stopped treating myself for having worked 1 hour or bravely waited for the bus for 5 minutes. I instead chewed a gum (I hate gum) and did the opposite of treating me. it's this circle. it helpes at firs but when you're really shortly b4 smoking 1.. than treat yourself. for NOT doing it. the first 2 weeks are the hardest, so you're halfway there. after that, it's ez not to. I even got drunk with my still-smoking friends and still did not want to smoke. yes. it's been harder to resist as usual, but it's still way easier to resist, than to be weak. but remember!! NEVER be weak. quitting smoking mean NEVER AGAIN. That all sounds a lot like a help-urself-book, but I really made up my mind about this. maybe stay away from occasions, where you'll eventually get temped, for 1 or 2 weeks and after that, you're pretty much done :) And! I gotta say, even thou I gained a lil weight (smoking stops your feel of hunger), I feel much more fit and relaxed. You can do it and I'm very proud of you guys. And don't stop masturbating.

@@JanUlrikSchrder Thanks for asking. I used the nicotine patch system, but I couldn't really tell if it was helping me. I had almost no symptoms, didn't put on any weight, but I still get some phlegm every morning, and after 2 or 3 coughs that's it for the rest of the day. Also, I had had 2 chest X-Rays within the 3 years prior to quitting - all clear.

Smoked for 20 years, 2 packs a day. Was only able to quit with medical help. Stopped smoking 5 years ago. Smoking IS an addiction. It IS a medical condition. Don't be afraid to ask for medical help (qualified MD, a pneumologist, not some alternative medicine quack).

mintcola I'm much better. It's been some time already, and I only rarely (twice a year, maybe) still crave it, and only for a minute or two. The only major affect is dental. I had some serious decalcification on 20+ teeth, for which I had to had an expensive treatment and will have a higher chance of cavities and root canals for the rest of my life. As far as my lungs go, I've got lucky. According to my MD, I stopped just in time to avoid any lasting damage. The first few days were rough, even with the meds. I had all the withdraw symptoms: cramps, nausea, depression. But there is no doubt it was the right decision.

I just read Allen Carr's book and found it inspiring. I'm in my second day of cold turkey and it's not too bad. He's right, I think, about it being mostly in the mind.
