In this video, I share the ways Sweden has affected me as a person ever since moving here. This is the second episode, with focus on weather. Has the Swedish weather made me appreciate the climate I had in Taiwan?

There is a lot of truth in this Swedish proverb (det finns inget dåligt väder, bara dåliga kläder) because when you live in a nation that varies this greatly in temperatures you REALLY need to dress for the weather.

Spring and Autumn are the best times of the year in Sweden imo. It's not too cold and not too hot, just perfect. Also it's the times of the year when nature just smells so great, and the air feels so fresh.

The schools do close with some weather in Sweden. I'm From Luleå in the north, in 9th grade I went to school in -42c just to find out that the city had closed the schools. But then again I lived 200 meters from the school so it wasn't the end of the world.

Great episode, really funny! I hate that street slush sooo much!!! And not seeing the sun for a month sometimes, and almost forgetting what a blue sky looks like. Summer goes by so quickly, I don´t want to accept that we´re in the end of July already...

If you get a meter or so of snow over night school might be closed, but call and check first. 😉

What is this shit? No it won't be closed by a mere meter of snow. Where does that happen? As long as the plows can move it you're going to school. Get your shovels ready boyos, this winter will be real bad.

I wish you had expanded a bit more on the sunshine part. Cause Taiwan gets lots of rain during Summer and apparently also gets less sunshine than Stockholm throughout the whole year. So, is your husband just enjoying the Sun more because of the UV index?

I have gotten the impression that in most of Asia having a tan is seen as less attractive because it historically being linked to manual labour. Here we have the term "bonnabränna", but in general a tan is seen as attractive.
@Soldrakenn
@Soldrakenn 2 жыл бұрын
It changed in the west when we got vacation time and the working class was stuck inside fabrics year round. Paleness became synonym with sickness/poverty and a "healthy" tan meant you could afford vacation, maybe even travel south. It used to be the other way round back in the feodal days.
@Ricky911_
@Ricky911_ 2 жыл бұрын
@@Soldrakenn that's only really true for Northern Europe. My Italian parents were making jokes about my tan line on my arms even when we were living in England. They used to say I looked like I worked in construction 😂
@Soldrakenn
@Soldrakenn 2 жыл бұрын
@@Ricky911_ oh really! :) I suppose it's mostly relevant for the more northern parts where we barely get any sun!
@Ricky911_

@@Soldrakenn yeah. I think most of Italy actually finds having tans attractive nowadays but there's still is a bit of a joke around that, especially in the region I originate from, Apulia, because a lot of people often grow vegetables during Summer over there. Growing up in England though, I've found that sunshine is really praised by the people whereas Italians often prefer to stay indoors as it gets really hot during Summer. Either that or they go to the beach.
