Honey has a ton of different properties that help with sickness. Low moisture and high sugar, different bacteria killing compounds and the local pollen all help the body fight an infection. For vinegar it’s mainly just it’s acidic properties that can kill micro organisms it comes into contact with

I boil ginger water everyday with honey. I also like to add the ginger water with my bone broth and just have that as my breakfast. This looks good will definitely give it a try. Thanks and feel better soon :)

Matt, what do you do with the ground ginger pulp that is left? Do you toss it or incorporate that into something else? I saw someone making ginger pulp ice cubes for tea later but with since it’s cooked idk if that is a good use for it? Thanks ❤

Ginger tea with lemon and honey is what I do when I'm sick. Though I make it a lot simpler, just throw some sliced ginger into a big thermos, fill it with boiling water, let it sit for a little bit and then add in the lemon juice and honey. And I just keep sipping on that throughout the day. Since the thermos keeps the water hot, the ginger continues to steep, so by the time you get to the end of the thermos it's nice and spicy. And then for food, nothing beats a nice chicken noodle soup with a boatload of fresh garlic thrown in at the last minute. I like to feel the garlic burn the germs away, or at least that's what I tell myself it does lol.

The grossest thing about restaurant workers being sick and cooking people's food is that we all know when you're sick snot droplets inevitably fall out before you can catch them. I wonder how much human snot I've eaten?

My chef makes basically this drink anytime someone on the crew is sick too. It truly helps getting through the day. The only difference is that he adds curcuma to it either fresh or ground, since curcuma and ginger are good for your immune system. Hope you get well soon!

@@acooknamedMatt Tumeric, my bad. Curcuma is the french word for it.

You can absolutely get sick from someone who's cooking the food. The tiniest cough can project respiratory particles onto the food. That's all it takes. At the very least, I wish it was more acceptable to mask up when you're I'll. Instead people are pretending it's pre covid times and just come to work sick as hell.
@acooknamedMatt5 ай бұрын
Yea i figured that. Unfortunately the nature of the industry is you gotta come to work unless you’re in the hospital pretty much. Well at least from my experience
@mvr4t5 ай бұрын
So true. Had to pop some headache blockers a vitamin c sachet and come to work no matter what 🤡
@woocashky5 ай бұрын
Nonsense - the only thing you get from masks is a false sense of security. Stay at home whenever you're ill. Eat well, supplement, drink weird concoctions from the Internet and try to grab some direct sunlight as much as possible. Other than that, it is business as usual. We've been fending off elements for hundreds of thousands of years, and there's still no "cure-all pill" or a "method". And don't let an ill person cook you food - should be the other way around

If you're into juicing a pinky sized amount of ginger will make a half gallon go crazy. One of the best "spicey" experiences I ever have if you factor in both the taste and how I feel after. If you're not sick it can really wake you up and make you feel alive, and in fresh juice it just compounds the sugar buzz but with no crash almost like a supplement, I mean, they literally sell ginger supplements but the whole bottle will have less actual ginger than this man's glass of ginj.
@acooknamedMatt5 ай бұрын
Oh my gosh yes. When i used to work juice shifts at one of our breakfast spots we had squeeze bottles full of the juiced ginger we’d add to the drinks. Powerful stuff
