Up here in Yorkshire we are very multicultural, we have people from Yorkshire and a few from Lancashire. That covers the whole civilised world I think.

The Corbyn effect on the youth has done a world of good too. Despite how it's turned out, a whole forgotten about generation has been invigorated and engaged in a way I doubt we'll ever see again.

@@jemmajames6719 Of course I did. However, I'm 24, I was part of the youth that Corbyn inspired and saw it first hand. Traditionally young people have been disengaged from politics as the two main parties in the UK have usually ignored them. Corbyn changed that, opened the dialogue, and he deserves credit.

Jack Beswick as a life long Labour voter, Corbiyn has destroyed Labour., if you don’t vote you can’t complain. Though recently this has been turned on its head, this is why Boris had to win the election to uphold democracy. Had to vote Tory for the first time and for the record I voted to remain

About the diversity of things like accents- its crazy! I live in Manchester and there's about 10 different accents within a mile radius alone- my friend was born and raised about 4mi from me and our accents are different in many ways.

Politics in the UK has been at a heightened level over the past three or so years chiefly because of Brexit. Traditionally, Brits have not been that politically active. I'm Irish and I can tell you that Ireland always had much livelier elections in years gone by than the UK ever had. That has all changed with Brexit and, to some extent, with the great devolution and independence debates that have been going on too. As for walks, the UK is very famous for its public access to countryside, its national parks and its areas of Outstanding National Beauty (ONBs - you'll see them marked on maps). However, perhaps its a generational thing. Younger non-Brits may be completely unaware of this whole aspect of British culture as it may be something that they just don't see being promoted by UK tourist agencies abroad. I wouldn't exactly call Hampstead Heath "bushland". You need to go further afield and get out of London.

I understand what you mean about things being accessible in Aus. When I went for my honeymoon 10 yrs ago I thought I couldn't cope living there. I felt it was an eye opener when I went to coles and wolworths. A lady stopped me and asked were I bought my clothes, I explained I was from the UK and were I bought my dress. The lady told me she bought from the same place in the UK and had to order via someone address in the UK and they then sent it to her! I thought wow how lucky we are to have so much choice.

I know what you mean about british insults, but just so you know, when MPs call each other "honourable gentleman" it's because they have to. It's the rule. More specifically, "Honourable member (or gentleman or lady)" is to any other mp, "Honourable friend" is another mp of the same party. "Right honourable member (or whatever)" means they're in the privy council. (I'm just going to let you guess what that is!)

Ive never been to Golders Hill but decided to go the other day. I went through Pergola & then on some forest adventure route (felt like I was the only person there)🌲 The sun was out for once & it was kinda foggy too so felt quite magical 🌤✨I ended up at the deer section..that was a surprise 😮

Here in the UK it is possible, with a bit of planning, to walk from lands end, to John o groats, and apart from things like crossing rivers etc, and not have to walk on a road, using the public footpaths and bridal ways, get your self an ordinance survey map, best maps in the world by the way, for you chosen areacand get out into the countryside.

In Bedfordshire there are wallabies! A group originally escaped from Whipsnade Zoo in the 1940s. You frequently see them hopping about.

Hi, Yvette. Did you know there are about 100 wallabies living wild in the UK? There are about 4 places, including Derbyshire and Kent. Talking about Derbyshire, the Peak District is amazing. Two places in particular - Matlock Bath where there are excellent walks and my favourite, a petrifying well where household items are slowly turning to stone. The Blue John mines and caves are also wonderful to see. Hope you get the chance to visit some of these amazing places. Happy New Year.

My partner was very into photography in the past and we often had models staying over at our place. Many were vegetarian and I was always thankful for M&S dishes for them. They also commented that they were grateful not to get another soggy cheese salad. I'm also lucky as I ended up with two ovens and I keep one meat free for guests like that.

When I was young in the 70s/80s 6 weeks or 28 working days was the delivery time for most things in the UK. Amazon/online shopping really changed that.

Regarding your point about the parliament thing, they have to do that because they are not allowed to say MP’s names. Hence all the work arounds they have to do to refer to their colleagues. But in general, I agree with you regarding our disposition on sarcasm and dry humour

Hi Yvette have recently come across your site. It's funny to hear you singing the praises of the UK. My wife and I spent a month last year driving around Australia from Brisbane to Adelaide, we both fell in love with the whole Australian laid back culture, lifestyle and food. It's like everything in reverse to you bigging up the UK. To us we thought Australia had so much more to offer! But I guess 'the grass is always greener'. In some ways your fresh perspective has made me appreciate my own country a bit more so thanks for that. I think the biggest impact for us was that there is soooo muuuuch s p a c e and so little traffic and not many people and lots of outdoor activities and great weather and straight talking where the papers report on 'larrakins' (never heard of the word) or the greatest turn of phrases, my favourite being from a channel 7 newsreader who stated that "some bloke was in hospital having been bashed up by the missus" That is not something you'll hear on the BBC News! The only negatives were 1. the size of the road kill, no squashed bunnies or flattened hedgehogs to ride over, no the Aussies go big - dead kangaroos and wombats...which you definitely have to swerve around! 2. The TV most of which was way below UK standard - no wonder you go outdoors a lot 3. wi fi as you've already identified....and.....drumroll please....SYDNEY: What a let down - harbour, bridge, opera house and we're done - time to move on. All in all we loved Australia, especially the people and definitely felt very much at home. We'll be visiting again...and again...and again! (but perhaps not Sydney : ) unless you know better!!

About exercise, I think in the UK people tend to go to the gym when it's cold, but I do see so many people walking dogs in the parks here. It's like everyone has a dog here. Amazon is the best, I buy everything there and get home delivery groceries which has been a life saver.

We have "Amazon now" in the UK also, it means you can have delivery of certain items within 2 hours. Argos do delivery options of less than 2 hours also. So check them out ☺

Oh WOW! you just said "come acrost!" My neighbour says that too. She recently complained that the postman had walked "straight acrost my lawn". I had never heard anyone say that before. I assumed it was a London thing (we are in the Midlands). I can only assume that it is a malapropism.

Hey you should absolutely check out a National Trust membership. You get free access to loads of Beautiful protected areas and stately homes and that kind of thing. And you get a little sticker to put on your car window that used to be a big thing when I was younger.

So random story...I live in Manchester..love it...but needed a break and headed to the lake District which has some of the most amazing lakes and walks ever. Rented a cottage for the week. Before setting off we ordered supplies for the week on Tesco online app and collected it at collection point outside store and drove to lake District. On way back, we were too lazy to do the same so we ordered everything to be delivered to house whilst in passenger seat and we just ordered a takeaway first night back. Also, she always orders bagless so that we don't use any additional plastic bags.

I will say one thing more serious. The fires in Australia at the moment are a global disaster and I hope there is unseasonably heavy rain there soon to give the firemen and the potential victims a break. Those firefighters are astonishingly brave.

Home delivery - its not just Amazon. The major supermarkets (Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrison etc) offer home delivery too. It's nor free (delivery charge @ £5 depending on the time slot you book), but basically you could do your weekly shop onlineif you wantred, and know (to within a 2 hour window) when it'll arrive. Check out their websites.

You can get amazon prime, it’s about £10 a year but you get free next day delivery on your amazon orders and you get a whole bunch of movies and tv show (like Netflix) sooo worth the money !! Xx

It seems like alot of people are shocked by people in the UK when it comes to banter. literally ripping people to pieces in a joking way to make friends, though we do use that method to hide actually insulting people so we don't have to many big blow ups with friends. The internet in the UK i think is the fastest in the world.

Amazon is quite green too, I think. We wanted batteries for a Christmas light - and could have driven two miles to get some - but just ordered on Amazon and they arrived next morning. If one Amazon van makes 50 drops and stops fifth car journeys, that’s green! We are on Prime... which is worth it, as small things arrive quickly & free, plus you get films and TV programmes.

You have a kindred spirit when it comes to online shopping. I became disabled around 4 years ago and until then I took shopping for granted. Now I totally depend on Amazon for almost everything - I joke it's my best friend lol. I use Morrison's or Sainsbury's for food shopping online and it's truly a godsend. My electric wheelchair doesn't like rain or snow and I live in Scotland so I'm stuck indoors alot! I'm on my own so I don't know what I'd do without online shopping. I'm really enjoying your clogs. I'm glad you're happy and settled living here 😊

@TheRenaissanceman65 I was a nurse in my healthier days so I feel incredibly useless now and guilty that I can't do what I used to. My favourite thing was taking my dog for long hikes around the coast. It's so beautiful there. We have nice parks that make up for it though 😊 We get free prescriptions in Scotland, however I'd forgotten that Boots deliver my meds every week (for an annual fee) so that's great. I don't know if they do the same in London, but if you spend £20 in Iceland, they provide free delivery. I think the prices are fairly reasonable there, not much more than Aldi or Lidl and they sell more than just frozen food.

When MP's say "my right honourable friend" they're referring to a cabinet minister from their own party and "honourable friend" is similarly an mp from their own party so they're not insults. Calling each other "honourable" is just a traditional formality even if they're referring to an opposition member, it says nothing about their feelings towards each other.

You'll be pleased to know that when politicians say "My Honourable/Right Honourable Friend" they are - generally - being genuinely polite as MPs use that to refer to their own party. If they say "The Honourable Lady/Gentleman opposite/MP for Pity Me" then they're usually talking about another party and yes - generally being arsey. 😁 I think that a lot of your opinions in this video are being formed by the South East. I would definitely suggest getting up into some of the Northern towns and cities for a week or two. The main cities are going through some huge architectural changes so visiting Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds/Bradford, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Glasgow etc... Gives you a huge change from London. (When I moved to Newcastle I was shocked by how white it was - but that's changing slowly.) But if you *really* want to see the differences between the UK and Oz, try the smaller towns and cities. Sunderland, Carlisle (where I saw a morris troupe dancing in Black face on the High Street.), Preston, Nottingham/Chesterfield. I guarantee that you'll have a list as long as your arm! 😁 And finally, have you signed up for Amazon Prime? 2 hour delivery. TWO HOUR DELIVERY!!!

There are a lot of great vegan restaurants in Brighton if you ever visit and the southdowns way for amazing walks. We even have a vegan shoe shop.

E- bay is big here, as you say if it comes from China it takes a while but is cheap, what you find in the UK is people buy a lot from China and put few bob on it you get it in a couple of days

The "Right Honourable Friend" is the formal way to address another MP in Parliament. There is also "Honourable Friend", the difference is whether the MP is a Privy Councillor or not.

Exercise? In the good old days we used to go on walking holidays - via the British Navy - walk for a bit, and plant the Union Jack. As we couldn't do selfies back then, we'd document our holiday by colouring the part of the map where'd we been in pink and send it to the Queen for approval. We had a bigger holiday camp map than Alexander the Great (some Macedonian upstart). Ah, the holidays we used to have...Australia attracted the Benidorm class, but we won't mention that!

You should check out Brighton for vegan options! Loads of vegetarian, vegan restaurants and offers everywhere! Me and friends joke sometimes that it is more difficult to get meat here than something vegan. I think you might like it :)

So theres two things with Amazon most don't know. Download these two apps... Amazon prime now this is Amazons same day delivery app so you literally order and within the same day they'll deliver it to you (it's more limited but still has alot of stuff) And also smile.amazon this is Amazon but they'll donate to your choice of charity every time you purchase something. For some reason they don't advertise these that well but thought I'd let you know (this is in the UK btw no idea about other countries)

Fun to listen to your take on us Brits! Just to say that ‘my honourable friend’ usually refers to somebody in your own party whom you would see as an ally. People from opposing parties are referred to as ‘the right honourable lady/gentleman’. When you hear that one you know that there could be a degree of hostility! All speech in the U.K. parliament is addressed to the Speaker, never to other MPs, unless, of course, it is the Speaker who is speaking.

Heyyy I think one of the massive reasons allot of british people are less active is the lack of money that goes into schools/pe. In my school we didn’t have a field.. or grass and at one point a playground

Very interesting and I really like your friendly approach to it all. Hey, if you like normal Amazon delivery, you have to download their "Prime Now" app - they deliver in 2 hours for free. By the way, you are correct in "my right honourable friend". While it is officially a polite way to address someone in government, it is often turned around as an insult. You may sometimes find it as a precursor to an attack. Also sometimes heard is "my learned friend" which are rarely said to another actual friend, but a foe. Well spotted there as not everyone has noticed that these are often used as an insult

What's happening australia is so sad and awful, and a lot of us are keeping the people, country and animals in our thoughts. I remember when a fire broke out in my town and devastated the beautiful old buildings that I had known all my life and I felt so gutted and just wanted to get home. I hope you're OK xx
