I am just starting my journey, I NEED to get my bmi to 40 in order to to get a much needed hip replacement, im cutrantlly at 47.... I would love to have a weight loss " buddy" as my husband is basically a stick man.... And offers no support. In fact, just the opposites, when I start loosing he actually hinders my progress. I can't drive, put my shoes/socks on by self, can't walk from room to room without stopping to rest all becoz of the constantly pain I'm in.. I'm becoming more and more depressed because of my lifestyle change I've had to do becoz of this constant pain I'm in.... Please, let me kno your thoughts on this... I'm 58 yrs old, and would love to talk more in depth.... Thanks!

This was such a great time for you to post this because I was just sleeved on Thursday. I only spent one night in the hospital but today is the first day I haven’t felt like throwing up every 15 minutes. It is so comforting to hear that you can eat somewhat “normally“ 2 years out and still maintain your weight loss. I know the first couple of weeks are the hardest so I’m just trying to hang in there and think positively. What was your worst part of the first two weeks?
@BariTaleCoaching
@BariTaleCoaching 2 жыл бұрын
Tanner, congratulations! Ok, so I think you've made it through the worst part! The first 48 hours were ROUGH (it hurt to breathe, I threw everything up, and I couldn't get my water in). Then, it started to feel normal. The liquid diet is boring, but you'll appreciate chewing SO much! I also needed to add in like savory soup/broth because everything tasted too sweet. How are you feeling now?

@@barbrowan4282 I'm just getting started.... I need a hip replacement BADLY... They will not do it til my bmi is 40 due to risk of infection... I am now at 47 bmi... So, here I go.... I don't seem to b able to loose on my own becoz I'm off work due to excruciating pain... I have an appointment with my surg on 5/22,so I'm going to start now and try to get some of these "classes" out of the way.... I'm not sure which I want yet but I'm thinking the sleeve. I can't exceecize due to hip/leg pain, I can barley walk from living room to kitchen without have to sit down for at least 10 mins, I have not slept in my bed since last April, can no longer drive, put on socks/shoes... I rarely leave the house.... So I'm looking for not only incentive but kinda like a weight loss "buddy" for support. I really need to get this off so I can get this surgury and take my life back.... I was kept at the hospital for 4 days due to so much pain they managed it through I.V. I really wish I was prepared ahead of time for the pain. I currently have 5 incision and it’s been hard to sleep this is how I ended up on your channel. My nutritionist only wants me on WHEY protein at the moment. I found musclesport has so many delicious flavors with only 2grams of sugar. I am hungry all the time though I don’t know why maybe it’s all the liquid I’m only consuming. I’m so glad I found you! I’m new to this site. I’m 63 and will be 2 yrs post op April, 2023. I had gastric sleeve surgery, had a lot of pain and fatigue for 7 months post op, only lost 65 pounds the first year, and have started regaining - 12 pounds back. I’m wanting to get this extra weight off that I’ve gained plus some because I was wanting to lose 100 and didn’t. I didn’t realize that I had one good year to get the weight off. I didn’t walk like I should or exercise due to the fatigue. And now I’m wondering if I’ve stretched my stomach because I can eat a whole sandwich and I can eat way more food than I did after surgery. I have NEVER NOT been hungry which makes me think the ghrelin strip wasn’t cut out of my stomach. I don’t Iike water so drink lots of crystal lite lemonade but it has artificial sweetener in it and it makes me wonder if that is what is causing me to be so hungry. Obviously I’m still not doing lots of things right and that makes me feel like a failure. I can’t gain all of my weight back. Any advice is appreciated. (Sorry for the long post). Didn’t know how to DM you.

Wow! You are so much stricter with yourself than I am (3 years post gastric bypass). I kinda feel like I eat a bit too much when eating 300-400 grams of something. During the week my habits are so much better. I also start my day with a protein shake but more of a VLCD one with some sort of coffee taste. BUT the weekends and when I spend alot of time at home, my habits absolutely suck! I seem to be always on the run and playing beach volleyball new year round after work. I'm a teacher too! Iindoor beach volleyball is the absolutely best! both mentally and physically! But is also means that Im not home that much and need to be smart about what I bring with me. I'd recommend two weeks, although you may need adjusting in your current job if it's physically demanding. You'll be tired because of the little calories you'll be taking in. Is there a way to talk to a manager to see if you can change what you do for a while post-op?

Hey Rosemary! Ok, so the first thing I'd start to track is your protein. I find that I can be hungry ALL day if I don't start my day with 1/2 my protein intake (usually 20-30 grams if I can get that in). It sets me up to be full. Then, I'd work on water! I'll have to try this snack! In Disney, you can amend almost ANY meal to be gluten-free or carb-less. I also bring plastic baggies with me so I can save what I don't eat! It's NOT weird. Disney is a pretty open place (love the asking for a spare plate idea!). You can bring a card from your surgeon to get kid's meals, too, but I prefer the taste of things not on the kids' menu. Food portions with visuals would be great! When you eat a lot, it's hard to imagine how you'll be satisfied eating that half a sandwhich, or you wonder, is that going to be a snack, is that the entire meal , will I be hungry in 15 min? You definitely can lose it!! Just go back on a caloric deficit + exercise! Once you’ve achieved your weight loss goal, maintain your weight using my fitness pal or a similar app to track your calories😀. One thing you should do is find out what your resting metabolic rate is using a ttde calculator, (this is the number of calories you burn with 0 exercise, aka your maintenance weight calories), subtract about 500-700 calories from that number to lose weight and be in a deficit (use my fitness pal to track). If you choose to exercise then you can eat a little more as you’ll be burning extra calories😊 Only thing you should eliminate from your diet is sugar + junk food, and keep fat and salt to a minimum! Hope that helps♥️ I know how discouraging it can be, VSG is a lifetime commitment to health, but you are absolutely in control and you CAN do this!!!

@@nadahassan9691 Thank you so much for your reply and your encouragement!! It's been such a hard battle as I am an emotional eater. Stress of being a single mom and in nursing school and working has been a battle with my eating. I was so impressed with myself at my lowest and everyone around me told me I was "too skinny" or "looked sick" and tell me I am perfect where I am now. However I am not happy with it so not having that support doesn't help. Thank you so much for this! I was so afraid that I must have stretched out my pouch entirely and ruined any chances of this working for me.
@nadahassan9691

@@melodymundo8718 Okay first thing I want to say is how deeply I relate to and understand you. I’m an SM too and heading into my last year of uni. I know how stressful and overwhelming nursing school can be, but you are so unbelievably strong!! Like SERIOUSLY look at you! Secondly, if there’s one thing that struggling with binge ed, and having to hear criticisms for most of my life has taught me, its that only YOUR opinion about your body should matter. If you feel great, are healthy, and confident, then respectfully, F*CK everyone else! Also, definitely talk to your doctor, an unbiased medical opinion is always best! About your last point: I’m currently 1 month post op. I did almost a year of research before going ahead with the sleeve. I also asked my doctor about a million questions especially ones about that specific point you brought up: Stretching the pouch. Now he told me that after about 12 months give or take, most sleeve patients can resume eating like a “normal person” (2000-2500 cals) - depending on your maintenance cals. This is essentially the time where people can regain as they are able to overeat. In other words, the safety net of our beloved tool isn’t there anymore, so any weight gain needs to be dealt the normal way, a diet! Your pouch is still just your stomach, its basically more normal sized now, also the “stretching” actually takes about 8-9 years to fully go back to what it was. So you absolutely have the opportunity to lose the weight again and maintain! Remember, after the sleeve our bodies/weight especially are very sensitive & need time to adapt, adjust, and stabilize, it takes about a year. For diet, focus your diet on whole, highly nutritious and high protein foods, after you’re done, follow the 80/20 rule and give yourself time to stabilize the weight! And definitely reach out to your doctor and nutritionist! They’ll absolutely be able to guide you best!

Can’t you just add some water into the la Croix. It takes down the bubble level

I suppose I could, but I could also just add fruit to my own! It doesn’t bother me anymore ❤️

So after 2yrs you only lost a 100 pounds 👀😮😳😳 why ? I seen a lot of people on KZfaq lost that in 3 to 6 months with the sleeve!

Hi! It all depends on the weight people start with. My surgeon says that he wouldn't want me to lose much more because that would put me in a state of being undernourished. You're right - LOTS of people lose more if they start out heavier than I was! And gastric bypass will also have faster and more lasting results because it's a MUCH bigger surgery.

Exactly what my doctor told me after I had my surgery… Everyone and every BODY is different. Some lose fast and some lose a little slower. However, I still see whatever weight is lost by each individual as amazing and it took some hard work to get there! So great job! I’m a little on the slow side as well, but hey, I’m still moving along and I’m proud of myself for getting to where I am. Better from where I first began.
