Another great video, Jed ! I have no idea why you are apologising for the way you feed Freddie ... your dog, your rules !!! A "raw diet" is always better than "dried food". Liver , heart, wings ... PERFECT, broccoli and other greens FANTASTIC ! Carrots are the best natural toothbrushes and take time to chew and eat. So. keep this up and don't let other tell you what to do !!!

Thanks so much for taking the time to comment. And thank you for the support. For some reason, people get twitchy about raw feeding pups! 🐶

Raw is common sense. I feed my to whippets raw beef chunks. My bigger whippet looks like Freddie. I do use kibble a lot because its cheaper and less messy and time consuming but raw has best results.

Interesting and I am. on my second whippet -- her name is Heidi - she is 11 months old and I have always struggled with whippet diets .. so so many dry food options from Royal Canin to Aldi food .. its a minefield of options - M y vet recommends dry food - Greyhound branded .. but I just might introduce Heidi to raw food .. ive noticed same issues - smelly breath - yellow forming on teeth and challenging pooosss from semi hard to the runs .. not consistant. Would you feed Freddie only once per day and does he get little treats the odd time Greetings from Ireland

thank you so much for the comment! Heidi sounds great 😊 Sorry to hear about the inconsistencies you are having. As mentioned, ive been through it all too. With these dry foods, they are all processed. So what can we really expect. I feed Freddie twice per day. Meal 1 is in the morning after his first walk. Meal 2 is at around 5-6pm after his second walk. His meals change from ground beef to chicken. I add in eggs (shell included), broccoli, apple, banana, chicken liver, beef liver. You name it, he will enjoy it. side note: Its VERY important to never feed a dog cooked bones. If you give raw feeding a go, please let me know how you get on 😊

I am pro-raw feeding but I don't think it's safe to feed raw that has not been frozen first. The reason for that is parasite can be found in supermarket raw food and more bacteria. Do you also supplement because a raw diet of only meat, bones and liver isn't a nutritional diet for a dog. They do need more nutrition than just those things; which is why a lot of frozen raw food for dogs are either complete (containing vitamins) or incomplete and you need to mix extra in. The argument that dogs are the same as wolves has been around a while but it's not true. We have domesticated dogs and have changed both their behaviour and their digestive system to make them able to digest different foods and they do have a different feeding requirement compared to wild canines. Raw is definitely better than feeding a commercial pet food diet, but when not done correctly it can cause long tern health issues/malnutrition. Where as a lot of people are pro-raw, it has also been well documented that in a lot of cases the wrong information is being spread and vets are coming out now saying a lot of dogs (and cats) are getting malnutrition from it. Am definitely not trying to cause drama here, but having done a lot of research myself into raw feeding (and feed raw myself) everything points towards not feeding raw from the supermarket shelves and ensuring you are supplementing. Just trying to help I guess. I personally would suggest looking into a frozen complete diet (such as Natures Menu, Bella and Duke, or Luna&Me).

Most farmed meats have no reason to worry about parasites. Raw pork is just about the only one you have to worry about. And even then it’s rare. However, raw wild game should ALWAYS be frozen for 3 months before feeding. Bacteria is not an issue for them as I’m sure you know, since they have much stronger guts and enzymes in their saliva that help kill bacteria. Definitely should be doing a complete balanced diet, needs some fish, beef tripe, kelp, and some vitamins/probiotics would be great. Premade raw diets are great as they’re balanced, but the issue is it basically becomes the same as kibble, where they don’t get to chew, which cleans their teeth. A premade raw should always include some meaty bones as well to combat this.
