Happy B-day! Speaking of emergency lights, a couple of days ago the power went out at my school and it was cool to see the emergency lights were working. My school was built in the mid to late 90's and they had some "Emergi-Lite" lights that had circular fixtures with metal and reflectors and they were pretty bright. Inside the locker room there seemed to be an older gen lithonia lighting light in there. It turns out a squirrel got into a transformer.

Oh! The next day a tree fell on a power line and knocked out the power at my old elem. school. They had the same brand of lighting except they were built to go into the ceiling and there was one on each hallway so it had to have been dark. I am on a hunch that the squirrel came from that tree (bad roots) ha ha!

I may have a few spare ELM2 second gen emergency lights, once I get done repairing/replacing some of our emergency lights at my church. The tabs on those are INCREDIBLY fragile, as you noted.

I have 3 questions for you. Does the Lithonia HQM only come in red or are there green ones? I've only ever seen them red, that's why I ask. Just for my clarification so I understand you in the future, retrofit bulbs are the LED's that are meant for exit signs, right? I'm not always sure what people mean when they say retrofit bulbs as I am new to exit signs and emergency lighting collecting myself. I have a lot to learn still in terms of terminology and that sort of stuff. Your vids have really taught me a lot and I always look forward to seeing your exit signs and emergency lighting vids. Your channel helped to inspire me to start my own channel actually. Keep up the great work! :)

Thanks! I’m glad you enjoy everything! And I’m happy to hear I inspired you! To answer your questions: The Lithonia HQM was offered in both red and green lettering, however the green lettering option wasn’t as common. As for the LED retrofit bulbs, these are lightbulbs that are LED that are design to replace standard incandescent bulbs in older exit signs that use light bulbs. I don’t use official exit light LED retrofits, I use a type of LED that simulates the look of an incandescent bulb. (This type isn’t rating for use in exit signs) However a typical exit sign LED retrofit looks like a normal light bulb but it has many small LEDs on it, and they are available in red and green. I hope that answers your question!
