I sure have made a lot of mistake buying equipment that just doesn't work, so I'm happy to share what I have learned. I'd also love to see what kind of content you all come out with as well. I’d love to see more educational content on how to be a safer climber. Climber fails are my favorite. Maybe a list of safety check you do all on your gear to know if you should replace? Helmet, rope, QuickDraws, harness. I know you’ve done a few of these already. One comprehensive video would be kinda cool but only if you’d enjoy making it.

I've been using a go pro for my videos, the wind noise is terrible and you can't hear my second. I'm tempted by the dji, thanks for the vid!

Yeah GoPro has always been bad on audio

try sticking rycote micro windjammers over the gopro's microphones, audio should be alright even in the wind (or any other make of tiny self adhesive dead cat)

I've had success with the Rode Wireless Go. Similar to the DJI you showed, minus the memory card, and costs less.

Nice but Redundancy is a climbers best friend lol couldn’t compromise not having backed up audio.

go pro media mod fixes all this if u wanna go that way? - 79 bucks....3.5mm jack into go pro same same - 48 bucks at gopro for the 8 - im getting one...

@@BetaClimbers keep in mind it's still just an omni microphone inside the media mod, not a shotgun microphone like the looks of the thing might suggest. ulanzi cage with the regular "pro 3.5mm camera mic adapter" will give you more external microphone placement options compared to the media mod

@@armchairsportsman4108 no unfortunately. if you check the assembly it's an omnidirectional. doesn't have an interference tube or a grill in front, they're not cardioid capsules and not in the right orientation to be a shotgun and - most importantly of all - doesn't have the side rejection of a shotgun. listen to a 360 degree recording and you'll hear it! i'm not saying it's bad, but it's not a shotgun

@@markifi i was just referring to the built in 3.5 jack - to me cleaner than adding one as with ulanzi - but yeah its def omni/windsock. thanks for clarifying!
