What I learnt after living in Zanzibar for 7 months

I lived in Zanzibar for about 7 months and in this video I’ll share my learnings and the things I observed.
I spent about a month just travelling around Tanzania and spent the rest of the time living on the island of Zanzibar.
I might do a video series of the different aspects of living in Zanzibar so let me know if you’d like to find out anything specific and I’ll try my best to include it.

Hello! I am looking to visit Zanzibar for an internship for about 3 or 4 months with my girlfriend and we are only worried about getting sick from eating certain things. We have been to Tanzania before but it was only for about 8 days. What did you eat and did you ever get sick? What did you avoid? I know people say stay away from sea food and vegetables but I definitely want to keep a balanced diet, so what did you do? Thanks!

Hey there! That's so exciting!!! So I didn't get sick and didn't get any food poisoning. I also tried out different kinds of food and ate at local restaurants. I also tried out street food and I usually go to places where there's lots of locals and tourists eating - that way I know it's going to be 'safe'. Also, I cooked for myself quite a bit and found everything very fresh! If you're on the beach during lunchtime or early evenings, you can catch fishermen just returning from sea and you can buy fresh fish directly from them. That way, you know you won't get sick. They usually carry the fish in their hands so you can spot them easily. Let me know if that helps or if you have any other questions 😃

Hey Veenaram, I'd say mostly I felt very safe. I went to places around Zanzibar by myself and didn't have any trouble. But, as a female person, I did get some attention from locals, who were mostly curious to find out why I was alone on the beach or where I was from. I also felt pretty safe around where I lived since I got to know the neighbors and never had any issues. I'd say, generally, Zanzibar is pretty safe, but I'd avoid walking around alone at night and maybe having my phone/valuables out for everyone to see...
