I feel the same way about this scent as you do. I like it, but I don't love it. It's relatively simple but it's potent and gets stupid amounts of positive feedback. I've been procrastinating buying a bottle of this intentionally but I think it's time to pull the trigger. The last couple years or so I've been going hard into amber fragrances so I'd love to see a video on fragrances like, Costume National - Soul, Issey Miyake - Noir Ambre, Calvin Klein - Euphoria Amber Gold, Arabian Oud - Kalemat Black, or Profumum Roma - Ambre Aurea. I love dousing myself in all of these and now that it's finally cooling down, it's so happening! lol

I may just not understand fragrances well enough, but to me this is not as boozy as people say. Idk if my nose is just weird, but this fragrance reminds me of PDM pegasus for some reason.

It’s a great scent for winter, it’s quite heavy and something I really only wear out to the pub or something. Not work friendly! The opener has a really sharp chemical smell kind of like a sharpie.. you really need to let it dry down

I’m not really sold on side effect. I have Layton which I think is hard to top. Think I’ll rather get Naxos over side effect. But sadly I haven’t smelled side effect yet.

I just tried it on today and honestly I wasn’t impressed. It’s good but not worth it for me.

I just got a decant of this today and wore it to work. It's warm, boozy opening instantly reminded me of Bentley's For Men Intense. So much so I'm tempted to think the Bentley is a dupe of this. However, this is clearly more refined than the Bentley. A couple of hours after the drydown the scent of Ambroxan just takes over and overpowers everything else. On the plus side, it doesn't clash with the scent of cigarette smoke as I'm a heavy smoker. I get that it's hyped up as a perfumer's perfume. I also get that Middle Eastern scents are the rage these days because notes like Oud and Ambergris is so exotic. But this is too much. I'm 37 but this perfume doesn't work for me. You need to be at least 55 to rock this effectively. Where the rougher and less refined Bentley reminds me of a British gentleman's drawing room or hunting lodge this evokes images of a 55 year old thrice divorced gent whose favorite haunt is the local casino. He parks his ass on his "lucky" slot or poker table everyday, a glass of rum or whiskey precariously balanced on a ledge, cards or the lever on one hand and lit cigarette on the other. In a few years I suspect Ambroxan and the smell of Ambergris in general will go the way of Aldehydes as people realize freshie minimalist scents are superior to this.

Comparing any fragrance to layton is very unfair 😂😂. I started collecting parfum de Marly fragrances and the first one I got was Layton and I was blown away , I got Herod I wasn’t really impressed because I wanted to get the same reaction I got from Layton so I need now to not go overboard with my expectations

F'ing hate this fragrance I have no idea how people can call this a panty dropper or a date night scent. When I was young I would wash my elderly neighbors 1990 buick regal with red cloth seats that she smoked in and filled with those cheap canned cherry 🍒 car fresheners.
