It was so funny seeing how the lawyers reacted to that innocent and simple (and to them probably also apparently random) question! 🤣

Sounds like a reasonable budget, what really eats up money for me is travelling and housing cost. If you split out your yearly travel cost and one off larger purchases (handbag, watch etc) I assume your cost would increase quite a bit. And then we have rent on top of that.

Would you guys consider buying your own place soon? The rent is pretty steep, obviously due to its prime location. After 4 years, that’s almost 1.5 mil HKD in rent paid!😮
@GarethLee01-tc2vc
@GarethLee01-tc2vc 5 ай бұрын
1.5 mil HKD is nothing... You easily earn that in a year in Hong Kong (after-tax as well due to the extremely low tax)

Eventually, but it’ll be further down the road given we’re in quite a transitory period of our lives (and careers!)

@@GarethLee01-tc2vc wow, surprising response. but why those young people are leaving HK? maybe they earned enough when they were in high school. I do not understand.
@GarethLee01-tc2vc
@GarethLee01-tc2vc 5 ай бұрын
@@cao6496 Well, its more surprising how ignorant most people are in overseas and even in HK about the situation in HK. 1. Video content creator was an ex-lawyer, and in these high-income field, your monthly income after tax will easily exceed HKD150K. Note that the average wage in HK is HKD55923, and that even the top 15% of the population puts you above the HKD 150K income bracket, which I suppose lawyers belong to this top 15%. 2. It's just my personal opinion, but young people who leave HK are either delusional or grateful idiots or both. Here's my reasoning: People talk about freedom in HK, but if you travel to HK, people are free to do their everyday activities. The only thing they can't do is protest about their government or humiliate their government, which you CAN'T do in any country. In fact, in other countries like US, whilst policemen in US will literally beat you to death for protesting; Policemen in HK literally warned numerous times before shooting a tear gas bomb. So not sure where all the complaining is about. They are also delusional about the West can also offer everything they want. People talk about HK becoming another China city. But HK's "2 systems" just has not been emphasized enough. At the end, HK is a part of China, so no surprise that there are more Mainland ppl in HK now than before. I don't understand the colonial mindset of seeing expats = good, seeing Mainland = bad. I agree, some Mainland cause trouble in HK, but most of them don't do any harm. If they don't do any harm, why are people still annoyed about them. At the end of the day, its most rational to like whoever contributes more to the economy and HK's development, right? Lastly, reason why I say HKers are ungrateful idiots is because everything is well-developed in HK, yet they decide to immigrate to UK, where if you talk to HK students in HK, 99% of them will say they hate the UK's infrastructure, environment etc. So overall, personally, if HKers move, instead of Western propaganda media saying it is "talent exodus", I think its for the betterment of HK that people who truly feel gratitude for where they are born leave HK. These people will most likely not contribute to HK and just ruin HK further.

Interesting video. But is it time to get an accounting license? With it, you could create a personal balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement, and statement of retained earnings. Do you really know all of your true changing assets, liabilities, income, expenses, gains and losses; derived from "owner" and "non-owner" events? Accounting analysis applied to person's actual life can give surprising insights. 🤔
