Seconded. It was very clear what you were presenting and why. Also, I'm glad you didn't take their word for it on their marketing statements, but you could've made it clear what they claim, vs what you tested. You muddied the waters on that slightly for me. (At the 4:26-ish area - you claim that it's the most efficient constant current driver on the market, and unless you've looked at literally every possibility, I'm not sure you CAN know that? It might've been better to say that's what THEY claim). All that said - it's a pretty good looking product. Thanks for sharing it with us :)

Great review!! How thorough you are in your research has kept me hooked on your channel. I have just recently started using grow lights since I moved into an apartment with poor light, I bought a couple full spectrum led shop lights at Walmart because they were cheap and I didn't know where to start with artificial light but they surprisingly stimulated a nice amount of growth for my orchids, but these lights you reviewed will be future investment of mine! I can't even imagine the amount of growth my plants would put out during the winter months with these!!

I did see another comparison with lettuce. The white lights blew the blurple lights away. Better taste, and more plant mass. Maybe it works best for weed or something, which is why it got popular. But Plants need light that mimics sunlight. Not darkrooms with blurple lights

At the time, there were no efficient phosphor-coated LEDs producing abundant white light: but red and blue LEDs were available and those happen to be where you find spikes in use for photosynthetic efficiency. Blurple produces as crummy weed as it does leafy greens - but it does produce and they’re (now) very cheap, so - as with all things in life: trade-offs.

Cool ass lights, but the prices make it hard to replace my 4x8ft T5's for starting seedlings.
@Chilledgrowlights
@Chilledgrowlights 3 жыл бұрын
A few important factors to consider aside from the better spectrum and higher intensity are how long a high-end LED light will last and the long-term electricity savings. T5s are inefficient in comparison and need to be replaced typically within 9-12 months. T5 bulbs also aren't very environmentally friendly and can often incur disposal fees. With this all being said T5s can be a great stepping stone and entry into the indoor gardening world. -Austin

Well for what these cost they better be amazing lol. If you're someone who's growing commercially or growing for a lot of people all year round I could see investing this kind of money, but just to start some seeds to put in the ground a month later? I wouldn't spend this kind of money. I mean the regular sized one is over $1,200 and the mini is $300. The lights I'm using are LED full spectrum. I bought two of them each one has two rows of lighting 2 ft long and I spent $46 and change per light. I definitely recommend using full spectrum over the blurple, but you don't need to spend $300+ to do that. if you're someone who can't afford to spend that much there are brands out there that have full spectrum for a much more affordable price.

You can definitely get affordable LED full spectrum. I paid 46 bucks for each of mine and I bought two of them. this brand however to get the size and amount of lighting that I have now, I would need to buy the regular size light from them and that is over $1,200! No way in hell I could ever spend that much for lights lol. Maybe if you're growing weed for a dispensary and making a profit or something lol, but just to grow some plants that you'll likely put outside soon after anyway, no ma'am. That's way too much money to me. Lol.

I've been using proper full spectrum white 3500k and 5000k plus far red/infrared 660nm+760nm, there is plenty of green light in Samsung lm301b+ lm301h diodes. Dimmer is important as well. You need a light that gives the proper DLI & PPFD, tomatoes 🍅need about 600 micromoles m²×second tested with a quantum sensor or spectroradiometer. Love your videos. Kinds of plant you're growing 🤣! Chilled! I like that they are using led bars to give better average PPFD to the canopy.

Thank you very much I'm moving up off grid. And I mean off grid! We only have two neighbors for so many miles it's four hours to town. I have 20 acres to work with it some of that's going to be left natural of course. But the seasons are serious so winter is cold below zero at night in the teens during the day period about 4 weeks and then summer is on top of you and you need to have some big plants and I'm certainly not covering Acres with things I bought grown already so my basement is going to look like the pictures of the person who made those lights if I can help it. I'm almost 60 so this is really scary. It's literally the wilderness, bear cougars you know. There's going to be a learning curve with a deer and the lower animals. Not meaning I think less of them they're just lower to the ground haha. It's just nice to know that I get to start my own plants that need to be big quickly summer is hot it's fast and there's four weeks of fall and the cold is there instantly it's amazing high altitude. I'm going to have to look into these more and see how they pull on the solar batteries Etc. Anyway thank you for the video oh, I'm sick but I'm a tough gal I think I'll just get stronger when I move up there. 🥬🥦🥕🥒🐾👣🐸🌱🖤

I have been starting seeds and what not for years and here are my two cents on this video. Love the information however one thing that seemed to be ignored is the importance of the heat produced by grow lights. Context is everything. In my context, I start and grow my plants for transplanting in the garage which is not heated. So I need grow lights that not only produce at the 6500K range but produce enough heat that can keep the seeds warm for germination. So what I do is use VHO grow lights (Very High Output) I use a Mylar blanket taped to the grow light to trap as much light and heat. I use a small thermometer to aid in keeping a good germination temperature. So for me in my context, heat is important along with the higher end of blue light.

That's an excellent point, thank you for making it. I should have mentioned that I use heating pads beneath my trays until the seeds germinate.
@dawnwr30
@dawnwr30 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah if you're growing somewhere that's not heated I can understand but at the same time a lot of the non LED lights get super hot and can actually burn and singe the plants leaves I think that's what she was trying to say like those lights might give you enough output but they get very hot and if they're too close to the plant they will burn the leaves. As long as you have them enough of a distance away and yet you're still getting enough of the light from them I guess they're okay I use a full spectrum LED and for germination I use it heating pad once they germinate they no longer need that heat but I'm also growing indoors where the temperatures are fairly stable and don't get too cold.

It seems that way being that the company sponsored the video and that was the ONLY full spectrum light she spoke of rather than showing different brands of full spectrum lights. especially considering this brand is super expensive. In comparison the regular sized lights they have (not the $300 mini which would only cover a few plants and it's also to much for how small it is imo) but the regular sized one is over $1,200! most people cannot afford to spend that kind of money to grow some seedlings let's be realistic here. I mean if you're pandering to marijuana growers maybe cuz they're actually making profits. but most of us are just planting for some veggies for our families and friends and not making a business out of it. Lol. I have led full spectrum lights they don't get hot they do a great job for me and I paid $46 for each light that comes with two rows of lighting two feet long. And my plants took off under these and even had blooms coming in with tomatoes on them. 🤷🏻‍♀️ .

@@TrueFoodTV actually she's not wrong. the regular sized one is $1,259. I just looked them up myself out of curiosity. Now The mini is only $ 300 which for how small it is is still kind of high to me. if you're someone who's growing indoors all year long or growing commercially or growing marijuana for a dispensary or something you're getting money in return so it's worth the investment. but at the end of the day most of us are just starting seeds and just growing some extra veggies for our family or just do it for fun and we can't all afford to spend $1,200 on lights. @@lemonmerrengue way to assume how much someone spends on their phone. I wouldn't spend $1, 259 for a single grow light. I would need multiple of them and no way in hell I would spend that kind of money for lights to start plants that I'm going to put outside in a month anyway. And my phone's not thousands of dollars actually, my phone is $300. Plus most people who get expensive phones don't pay for them in full in cash they pay monthly on their phone bill making it affordable. not everyone can just drop $1,259 all at once on a light. some people that are growing for their family are doing it because they can't afford not to do it. so if you're already poor fancy expensive lights aren't going to be an option. There's nothing wrong with showing these lights but she should have also mentioned some cheaper brands for people who can't afford them otherwise this whole video just comes off as a big ad for this company only. 🤷🏻‍♀️
