Thanks for the comments are "starting scrappy." Feeling like I had to have this well put-together Etsy store, shop banner, logo, multiple listings, etc before getting started is what has held me back from actually getting started. I need to remember to just go ahead and list something!

I've been looking into digital wrapping paper, wall art (where I'd use my own drawings to sell), and some other products made for mental and emotional well being audiences but am unsure how to start, where, amd and with little to no digital resources available. I'm both researching and praying about what I need to do here. It's a desire of mine to create passive income for my family and I that makes a healthy impact; writing in a blog I have and submitting writing and some art is how I'm working toward that goal now.

Thank you for the great advice, this is really helpful Kate. I wanted to ask, I am planning to sell templates but I see that many listings feature 100+ templates on offer. This seems like such a large quantity to sell and they are selling for approx. $40 or less. Is this the standard that I need to work to? I was hoping to only start out with approx 10 templates but see that won’t be competitive with other sellers. Thanks and hope to hear from you soon.

Etsy say they don’t allow stock images like mockups but if I use mockups that are free on canva is that okay? Do I have to put them as a production partner or something? I don’t want my account to get suspended

I remember asking someone in a facebook group why my items weren’t selling in POD and they said my store was “all mockups and people want to see the item being used”. I thought this was weird since I include videos in many of my listings. Bottom line is if you ask for advice specifically in a facebook group, take it with a grain of salt, especially if it doesn’t make sense. Facebook groups may not always be helpful and people can be jealous and rude and not interested in givign advice but instead interested in shitting on pod and digital and anything not handmade

I hear you friend. I still believe though that it’s possible for new sellers to break through, even a saturated market. Remember too - saturation validates demand!

Update info: new shops are charged a $15 initial fee now

Thanks friend, yes I heard about this after we filmed this video, I have mixed feelings about it. What’s most interesting is that the fee is said, on Etsy’s own website, to be charged to “some shops” as they set up. It will be interesting to see how they implement it.
