Thinking about it is mind bending. If you added long Island to the 5 boroughs, you'd only have enough room for just shy of 4.9B people (if you packed it like Kowloon. If you added Westchester County you'd still have about a billion homeless people (albeit with plenty of available real-estate elsewhere).

Countries near the equator look smaller on a map. That's the reason why Japan looks smaller than England, as does China in comparison to Greenland.
@NocnaGlizda

05:38 - Many people think similarly about the sizes of different countries in the world. The problem is that our reference are 2D maps, i.e. flat maps. The sizes of the countries on such maps are modified. Some countries are reduced and others are enlarged. Africa is reduced, and Australia is reduced. I don't remember why the maps are designed this way. They mislead people. The maps do not show the true sizes of countries and continents. PS: The three-dimensional world cannot be well represented on a two-dimensional map in a brief explanation.

@@devilmanscott Took over the world? Eh. The Mongol Empire took over the world. The conquered lands of the would be kingdom of Alexander the Great took over the world. While there is no doubt that the UK was and is still a forceful power (more so in the past than now), and the effects of their presence is seen everywhere. We can not say that they took over the world.
@devilmanscott
@devilmanscott 3 жыл бұрын
@@ihateintroductions5808 Your reply is a bit silly when we look at the numbers. Not only was it the largest empire by land and population(by world population percentage) it actually lasted longer than those you mentioned and unlike the others left far more behind, I.e infrastructure, laws, governmental structure, technology and so on, many still used today, also hence the widespread use of English. Funny thing, I thought you would have picked the Roman Empire as another better example than the Mongolian and Alexander's Empire, but the latter two were just flashes in the pan while Britain and Rome endured for far longer, especially the Roman Empire. I think people also don't realise the immensity of the British Empire's reach and control it practically made slavery pointless to do because of it's policing to stop it around the world, also the industrial revolution which basically changed the face of the Earth.

You could do everyone in much better condition while maintaining ridiculously high pop per sq km. Massive, self contained city towers. Build high, and use areas between as parks. All powered transportation would be underground in the city, allowing for much better air quality. No need for cars, obviously lol.

5:40 there is a site call thetruesize.com. You can type in a country and it makes a highlighted copy of said country on a map of the world which you can the move around the map and compare to other countries. You should try typing japan and bringing the copy up the map to the UK, might be a little shocked at the size difference. The biggest shock for me though was bringing Greenland and Russia down to the equator around China, really eye opening.

I came across a Steph Curry NBA highlight reel, and as someone that hasn't watched the NBA in about 2 decades I was absolutely floored at this guys insane, and I mean INSANE abilities. He makes crazy half court last second game winning shots, (and a lot of them) does insane dribbling that completely jukes and makes his defender look like a fool, and to top it off no look passes and ally oops like crazy. I have heard his name through main stream murmurs but I was absolutely shocked when I saw this guy's highlights. The limit isn't room to live. Its room to grow food. After a quick google search you need roughly 1 acre per person. Less if vegetarian. The earth has roughly 8 billion acres of arable land. Looks like we're all gonna be vegetarians before long.

@@vederianl9723 If this was a city that means the "rather large" rest of the entire world could be a farm for livestock and plants. So I would say there was plenty enough room seeing we are doing this right now. [For the sake of a silly arguement.] Right now there are 3 story 1/10 acre vertical farms producing 10 acres of food. You could incorporate this in "the city" and the sky would quite literally be the limit. Imagine just a couple skyscraper farms with quick turnaround hydro- and aeroponics.
