The Watcher is a character that first appeared in The Fantastic Four comic series in the early 60s. He is part of an alien race which watches and records the goings on of civilizations throughout the galaxy, but never intervenes. This particular watcher's name is Uatu and he is the watcher for Earth.

The watcher is the guy(s) from guardian of the galaxy 2 during the stan lee cameo. Stan is telling the watcher(s) about his stories / cameos.

The whole What If concept is a crazy awesome way for writers to have fun and go nuts with random ideas without being slaves to canon, and both seasons of the animated series did a great job portraying that "okay, we know this was a serious story, but let's get a little *wacky* and see where that takes us" vibe. Captain Carter didn't get to be called "Captain Britain" or "union Jack" because Marvel already has characters with those names they presumably have plans for and didn't want to muddy the waters

Since you're doing What If and continuing the multiverse stuff, I've got to recommend the animated Spider-Man movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. It explores the idea of Spider-Men in the multiverse, and it's a great way to get to know Miles Morales as a character. I know you kind of know him already because you're playing the Insomiac Spiderman game, but Into the Spider-Verse is a movie where Miles really flourishes as a character. The animation style is also just gorgeous to look at. It's so much fun, and I think it'd make for a great reaction 🙂

Captain Britain is a different character who has not debuted in the MCU yet (Henry Cavill has shown interest). Since he's connected to Arthurian myth, they chose to call Carter something different, to prevent future confusion Union jack is also a Marvel character, who usually fights alongside Captain Britain. Comics get convoluted

The Watchers started out helping and elevating other civilizations but one time they effed up so bad they vowed never to interfere again. They observe all of the cosmos, but there’s one assigned specifically to Earth, the Florida of the universe.

Honestly, don't skip anything in the MCU. There are movies/shows that are better or worse than others, but that was already the case in phases 1 & 2. Mainly there are movies/shows that talk much less to some but are very appreciated by others. But only you will know which one you'll love most. So yeah, not all 10/10, but no skippable, just much more variety and different flavor for different people.

I toldja... I toldja! And if you want more Peggy and more Coulson, you HAVE to crack open Agent Carter and Agents of SHIELD.

I hate the people that say not to watch a show / movie for whatever reason. Not to mention the people who tell you that you will like or hate something. Let each person watch and decide for themselves whether they like it or not. Isn't that the point of reaction channels? Tony Stark making the Hedy Lamarr reference has more significance than a lot of people know. Hedy was an Austrian-born American actress in the 40's, 50's, and 60's. She was very beautiful (a mirror of Tony Stark's/Steve Rodgers' handsomeness). Hedy also came up the the concept for "frequency hopping" to keep radio guided torpedoes from being jammed. The Navy turned down the idea, and suggested she sell war bonds for the WW2 effort. Today, her frequency hopping has helped make WiFi, GPS, and Bluetooth possible.

I liked the shoutout to Hedy Lamarr in ep 1. She was famous for being an actress, but she was also an inventor. She invented frequency hopping which allowed the military to secure their communications and is also the basis for today's wireless communications. Also, it's Howard The Duck. Also also, the voice actress for the character that shot Thanos in ep 2 is the same actress that portrayed that same character in the Guardians of the Galaxy. They brought her back for her one line.

The Watcher is in the Stan Lee cameo scene in Guardians of the Galaxy vol 2. Big headed dudes. Side note: There is an online fan theory that the cameos that Stan Lee has in every Marvel movie, even those before the MCU, is Stan actually portraying the Watcher observing the Marvel heroes across time and the multiverse. It's why he looks the same and no one recognizes him and he is always near every superhero.

I think that you already watched Guardians 2. When they went through the gate, and saw all those brief scenes, ONE of them was the Watchers interviewing Stan Lee (on an asteroid, I think), and he was recounting all of his "lifes" (cameos). Saying something like "and this one time I was delivering a package..."

It's not officially considered MCU Prime Timeline Cannon, but with the addition of the Multiverse, you could call it What if...Coulson survived

Uatu, the Watcher, is a completely different character than He Who Remains. Uatu is a member of a cosmic species who have pledged to watch, never interfere with, the universes. They tend to show up at moments of monumental significance. It should also be noted that Uatu is notorious as being one who in the comics tends to break his race's non-interference credo a lot. Basically, he seems like it's a "I am sworn to not interfere, so I'm going to interfere now". As with every video of yours, I recommend the movie Imagine Me & You, as well as Zsazsa Zaturnnah.

The Watcher is apart of a race called The Watchers. We were giving a glimpse of some in Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 in Stan Lee’s cameo. This was a nod to the fan theory that Stan Lee was a watcher. The Watchers have individual names and this one is known as Uatu. Can’t really tell too much about him without spoiling any possible future stuff. This series is similar to the comics where they take certain story lines and change those stories to get a totally different version. This is totally setting up the multiverse.

Ashleigh that's the greatest thing about what if you get so many different scenarios it was a great series I think it's still running in the comic book world. Glad you love this series hope to hear more about it with you.

the starlord/black panther what if... Um... ashley at the end when Peter Quil meets his dad, the implication is the universes destruction.... cause if you remember Peter was the trigger for the seeds for peters dad to make every planet into "him" and his big plan was to become EVERY planet across the universe.

There were some amazing stories in the What If comic books over the years, and although these don't seem to really pull from any of those stories, it is still a really good show. Also although I know you would not have time to watch it for streaming with all you do already (although I would totally watch every single one if you did), since you are a big fan of Phil Coulson, you might want to check out Agents of Shield if and when time permits (but don't want to say anything more and give away any spoilers). 😁

Both the What If comic and this series are so good. You nailed it on the head about it being about what could have been. The myriad of possibilities and alternate universes make this series so much fun. This series is going to get more and more crazier as it goes along. Also, don't watch Deadpool 2 until you've seen Logan first. Deadpool 2's opening scene spoils the ending of Logan.

The Watcher actually showed up in the Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol 2. He was the guy Stan Lee was talking to in space while Rocket and Yondu were speedrunning the journey to Ego's planet.
