I'm going to be completely honest, I wish Tanjiro announced that it was Muzan before Gyomei. That would have made so much more sense and would have been infinitely more badass!

I honestly liked the way they had actually done it. Like Gyomei was literally waiting him like a few days. The others including Tanjiro were still in shock and surprise on what happened that I don't think even he can react quickly to that. You can see the expressions in each person's face to realise that they were in shock and disbelief that Kagaya died first of all. All of them except Himejima needed to process all that at that time. So it actually makes sense that Gyomei said it first.

I do like the original. Gyomei is the first on the scene so he quickly explains the best way he can. Gyomei announces the demon that attacked is Muzan with the relevant information that his head isn't a weak point. This instantly causes confusion among the hashira as they try comprehend this impossible scenario. Then Tanjiro pulls out his sword yelling Muzan jolting everyone into action. It flows a bit nicer in my opinion.

I could tell Muzan was more cautious about Tanjiro rather than the Hashira. Probably because Tanjiro was the only Sun Breather. Just look at how he looked at him after he noticed Tanjiro.

In my opinion the scene is perfect as it is, Tanjiro know who it is but he's still shocked, he wasn't expecting to see Muzan suddenly. Gyomei, being the one already in the fight warns everyone about who that is, after that they say their lines (which in reality happens in their head and at the same time) and together with that Tanjiro regains his composure and attacks. If Tanjiro did it first they would then think and immediately attack, adding Gyomei talking after that would make no sense, they wouldn't waste so much time. Tanjiro would not state the fact that cutting his head won't kill him, they may all know but it's important to reasure everyone actually knows, which is what Gyomei does. This scene being this way also shows how not everything needs to revolve around the main character. Gyomei, alongside with the other hashiras, is one of the most important characters and will take a big part in the fight to come, therefore he deserves to be the one ahead to announce everything, he's stronger and has a faster reaction time than Tanjiro, specially cause he's already fighting. If you think about this scene in real time, when they first get there Gyomei will announce immediately who they're dealing with and because of that they will get out of the shock of not understanding the situation and will immediately attack. Putting focus on Tanjiro would basically show he's immune to the shock of seeing Muzan so suddenly. The moment where he looks at Muzan and reacts shows how he's not. That's why I consider the scene to be perfect as it is, if you read all that thanks I guess, and feel free to say something, this is an interesting thing to debate about.

I think tanjiro saying muzan and drawing his sword, to hashira reaction, to gyomei saying 'even if you cut off his head he wont die', to all of them going on the attack is the best ordering. Dropping the gyomei lines of 'its muzan' 'its muzan kitbutsuji' from the whole sequence makes it flow much better and gives tanjiro the spotlight on the reveal.

I think it was supposed to show gyomei's authority because how respected he is, they dashed into action without a second thought

Really like how for 10:32 he made shinobu say kibutsuji and then tanjiro runs in saying muzan. its like theyre saying the whole name together which adds more of a realistic effect or an intense feeling to it.

I think there's something so badass about Tanjiro being the first to speak and draw his sword. Like, Gyomei is already waiting for the othe hashira to appear, and yet, it is Tanjiro who instantly screams Muzan

When Muzan and Tanjiro locked eyes, Muzan should’ve said Tanjiro’s name, and then thats when Tanjiro shouts Muzan’s name in return. That way they are the first to acknowledge each other in front of all the hashira

It does make sense that the rock dude said it first because sick guy told him that Muzan is going to attack in the next five days so be ready, that’s why he got there first

I do think it makes sense that Gyomei announces it first by some points: 1. Tanjiro was not expecting a direct attack from Muzan unlike Kobayashi who revealed this information to Gyomei; 2. Gyomei was there before Tanjiro, the only way for Tanjiro to know Muzan was there was by smell, but since an explosion happened, all he could smell was flesh, blood and explosive as stated by him prior to his arrival; 3. Gyomei landed a fatal blow for most demons and the demon there regenerated his head thus further confirming it was indeed Muzan; 4. Gyomei is the strongest, oldest and most experienced hashira there, his words carry weight among them, he needed to be the first stating it was Muzan in order to conseal any doubts among them.

The fact is that hashiras wouldn’t believe tanjiro that that man is Muzan and they would ask for confirmation, like “tanjiro, are u sure that man is muzan? Or something like that, for the simply reason they don’t see tanjiro as an equal, in fact, the stronger hashira announces that that person right there is muzan, they do not need any more confirmation than that. Remember that at that point Ubuyashiki is dead, and all of them know it. So in a quick response to that they see Gyomei (the strongest demon slayer) as the new leader because they didn’t know about Kiriya’s existence yet.

that makes sense if tanjiro say it first, but honestly, when gyomei shout out that it was muzan, it gave me goosebumps... the same feeling as Tengen shouting to Tanjiro to keep going and jump, back in season 2 vs gyutaro (the last episode). well, iykyk. Muzan also knows Tanjiro is the only true problem since he is the only one Muzan looked at or spoke directly to.

Tbh, if it were me i would let scene stay the same but with a little extra scene in between after Muzan notices Tanjiro and before Gyomei's yelling. Like a subtle mouthing of Tanjiro telling Giyuu while still locking eye contact with Muzan. It would go like this. * After the eye contact * Tanjiro: "it's him..." Giyuu: "What?" Tanjiro: "Giyuu-san, that's him..." *his hand slowly approaches his katana's hilt* Giyuu: * *Sudden realization of what he's talking about but it's sounds so unreal to him he wanted him to specify to make sure* * *"Are... you saying that's-"* Gyomei: *"MUZAN CHO!!!"*

I didnt think i needed this video to be a thing, crazy how when the ep first aired I was a lil disappointed that tanjiro wasnt the one to say Its muzan glad to know im not the only one.

Gyomei was expecting muzan because the master told him. So as a leader of hashira he announced muzan so all of them are prepared to fight and get the context as fast as possible, gyomei strategized this. While tanjiro got there later with other hashiras, confused what happened and trying to understand the situation . Totally logical and good writing for it to be gyomei. I dont like if they trade logical writing with just mindless hype, because that'll get you movies like fast and furious

TBH I would love it more If Tanjiro yelled Muzan first but they fixed this "issue" by putting a flashback scene were Ubuyashiki told Gyomei all his plans and said that Muzan will be in the mansion exactly in 5 days. Ubuyashikis are known for their extraordinary intuition, it's like they have a skill to see the future thus making sense that Gyomei yelled it first because he was entrusted by the master to lead before the Pillars.

I think it couldve started with tanjiro arriving and looking at muzan, then have gyomei saying the hashira have united, then go back to tanjiro shouting muzan, everyone reacts, then gyomei lastly says his full name and he wont die that way theres more build up after tanjiro has seen him to shouting his name, and it still sticks with tanjiro first announcing it

the way ufotable did it is already epic and it gave me excitement but with a slight change like this, it made me have goosebumps, it deliver the feelings even stronger. BUT Tanjiro got the spotlight in the end because Muzan had his focus on Tanjiro most of the time even stated Tanjiro's full name in the end.

I think the best you can edit it to be, given the circumstances, is tanjiro announces first that's it's muzan, they all realize it, and right before they all charge in Gyomei only says this portion of his line, " even if you behead him he won't die". Immediately following Gyomei's line they all charge in with their breathing attacks. another alternative would be Gyomei's beheading line is thrown in while they are already charging.

I think the proper way is to cut out the hashira reactions and have Tanjiro accounce muzan and they go straight into their attacks after. They should already be 100% pissed that the masters dead and ready to go for the kill without explaination imo

It's really well made. I think it would be best if Tanjiro yelled muzan first after that they all react and right after gyomei starts speaking but doesn't scream muzan, instead he just explains that if they cut off his head he won't die.

I think it would be good if tanjiro announced it first and gyomei just said "He won't die even if you cut off his head", therefore confirming Tanjiro and giving them the info without talking too much. The original also makes sense too ig because they were all in shock and only Gyomei knew Muzan was gonna attack also it shows his authority.

I don’t get the discourse around this scene. Gyomei yelling “Muzan” first doesn’t take away from Tanjiro’s scream. Their screams are for completely different reasons. Gyomei is alerting all the Hashira that the demon in front of them is indeed Kibutsuji as he knew ahead of time because of the Kagaya prediction, and that he can’t die if he loses his head. Whereas Tanjiro’s scream is a moment of rage and resentment

This is a nice concept but honestly i prefer how the anime did it. Gyomei knows the situation so he'll know what to tell everyone when they get there. From there it follows with everyone being shocked along with tanjiro, gyomei explaining, tanjiro yelling muzan's name, and then all of them charging. Idk I love how it flows together and it makes the most sense for the situation. Also it does gives someone else besides tanjiro a chance to take charge. I will say, you probably could've taken gyomei's lines out since it feels awkward from where you placed it.

I really liked the different editing of this scene, through small changes the viewing experience is renewed and refreshing to watch, as for me after watching this scene many times I feel like the original is still pretty nice, it was Gyomei who connected his attack to Muzan first after Tamayo, i would feel like Tanjirou would « steal » Gyomei’s moment if he abruptly yelled Muzan just after reaching the temple, I really liked the way the scene goes with Gyomei screaming Muzan first, but all the other Hashiras are all stunned of encountering Muzan without saying a word, and it’s only when Tanjirou yelled Muzan second for confirmation that all the Hashiras started to move, I still think Tanjirou second yell is damn badass, because he’s still the one who ‘made’ the hashiras move

I understand the video essay above , my hypotesis is: Japan culture, the put important stuff in end, like when writing the most important writer put in bottom. So tanjiro say "muzan" in later solidify his role as MC.

To be honest, the first time i watched it, i thought that tanjiro would be the first one to shout muzan's name but was surprised when gyomei went first. So thanks for doing this edit because it does sound more impactful and shows more continuity of the story if tanjiro was the first to shout muzan's name, especially after their eye contact

9:00 has the best flow out of all of these. the way tanjiro completed muzan's name. the hashiras are highlighted by not making tanjiro shout first but giving him substantial impact still. the orig just doesn't give much impact to tanjiro.

It would be super cool seeing the Hashira's reaction to Tanjiro announcing Muzan rather than Gyomei. The Hashira have always been the mentors to Tanjiro, but Muzan's identity is the one thing that Tanjiro knows more than the Hashira.

The only thing about why the original does work better compared to how we would like for it to 'anime stylistic wise' look, is due to the set up it sets for the last season and movies. I don't think all hashira are aware of Tanjiro's Sun breathing at this point of time. I don't know if it is spoken in the manga between Hashira about Tanjiro at any point, but in the anime maybe there was the one instance of Upermoon 5 and 4 fight that Mitsori saw Tanjiro use the Sun breathing moves, only one that does know is Uzui but he knows it to a fire element breathing so he could easily chalk it up to learning it from Rengoku. However all these Hashira present as Hashira don't know specifically about it. Giyu did get informed Tanjiro is using another breathing. But I Sanami, Snake Guy, Tokito, Gyomei don't all know of his 2nd breathing style or let alone it's importance. The build up is a much longer run one in the making for when all is revealed and a massive fight happens

It's a little tough editing it after the fact, but it should've been first Tanjiro recognizing him and yelling Muzan, all the hashiras shocked to know that it's him, THEN Tanjiro rage charging first with a hinokami kagura technique and all of the hashiras following suit immediately. Maybe gyomei's confirmation statements right before tanjiro charging first, but i personally feel like his statements ruins the whole moment.

if tanjiro was first then everyone would jump thats the only sequence that would make sense.the reason it was done the way it was done was to give way to the reactions of the characters while tanjiro made the confirmation then everybody jump.besides gyomei saying it first makes sense since this is done seconds after they arrived he is the only one that has his mind battle ready while others are still questioning what is happening
