I think Nintendo removed him because people were making Lanky traps, where you force hundreds of mushrooms on the player making it very likely that one is Lanky. Then you make a passage that only normal Mario could get through making it unbeatable for Lanky. The creator would just need to play the level over and over until they didn’t get Lanky, but in 100-man they could burn all their lives trying to get through that level (if they’re not skipping).

Wall jumps? Ground pounds? Shell grabs? You want it? It's yours, my friend.

Their should be a mod that makes you turn into Waluigi instead of Lanky Mario that would be both cool and very funny. 🤣

What makes him so weird in the other styles, is that he still uses his Small Mario face, that doesn't look too weird in SMB1 because his Super Mario face is just Small Mario with a few added lines, pretty much stretched upwards, while in SMB3 and SMW, the faces in small and Super form are clearly different.
