This game reminds me of my Popi. He had alzheimers disease and he would barely remember me. One day I went to go see him and I was having a good conversation with him and we were talking about my dads childhood. Popi looked at me and he said "I may not remember you here," he said while pointing to his head "but I will always remember you here" he said again pointing to this heart. That was the last thing he ever said to me, Popi. If only you knew how much I miss you and how much those words mean to me

I couldn't agree more. I honestly wish I had. I'm 30 years old and have been disabled for 8 years. I've been ON disability, receiving benefits for 5 and a half years. A couple months ago I got a chair for the shower, and a smiliar... "Bathroom aide" sadly, my health has deteriorated to the point that I need constant help and supervision. I can no longer live on my own... My mother was hired by ResCare Home Care, to be my in home caretaker. I struggle to do anything.. And I'm only 30.... No kids, no relationship... God bless any other disabled samurai or elderly whom suffer in similar ways.. I would've done things differently had I known I wouldn't have the time I thought I did... I loved your play through Cory. You took your time and the empathy made this significantly more enjoyable for someone like me. ❤️

My gramma had Alzheimer’s and ended up getting moved to a nursing home and I cannot IMAGINE how terrified she was, especially if the nurses said she was combative. I was one of the few people she remembered. But like she didn’t remember me as a grand daughter….I was like… a long life friend or something. I miss her so much.

My grandma has Alzheimer’s. Because of quarantine, her conditions worsened as it went unchecked before. She absolutely adored me and since we live across the sea, she’d always ask when the family’s coming back to see her. Present day she barely remembers anyone. I feel really sad about it still but it’s js how it is.

This made me cry. It reminded me of when my great grandmother was dying, she slowly forgot about us, all her family, and when the time came for her to pass away... i stood beside her, tears all over my face, and i will never forget that she actually knew i was me beside her... that made me bawl, and i hold her hand until she finally said "los amo" (i love you all) and... i had to watch her die... ill never forget that moment Edit: I thank those who told me their story in this reply section, and i'll go every one of them in my free time. Wish every one of you the best, even if i dont know you. Im upset to see the fighting here, but theres nothing i can do but hope for peace.

My grandma doesn’t have Alzheimer’s but she does have dementia. I don’t remember when kind of dementia she was diagnosed with but this was a hard watch. I know I’m very late to this vid. My grandma has gotten very bad over this year. She wasn’t very bad last year. My grandparents are in a home now and my dad (her son) has been talking about memory care. My mother Sara Alexander had alzheimers... from 2008 to 2016. She finally lost her battle 2 weeks before Christmas. I took care of her for 6 years before it was more than I could handle. I was her only child. So when it got to the point she could not remember me or my oldest child (I have 2 children) I was devastated. But I continued to take care of her and love her. She was a amazing person and when she walked into a room she lit it up. This game kinda gives me a understanding what her last years where like. I know she is in a better place. i had a family member with Alzheimer's and this game did a really good job of demonstrating it. cory also did a great job at playing it and depicting it and also just being respectful. at the end when he said "thank you for giving me a good life" it got to me. thanks cory for playing this game. even if this video is old it will always have a special place in my heart.

That is heartbreaking... I don't have anyone in my family currently with Alzheimer's but.. my old neighbor did. She used to bake stuff for my dad and I all the time..the last time I saw her it had gotten pretty bad but some things still remained. She didn't remember my name or anything about me specifically, but she knew that my dad and I were important to her somehow..it was tough to see her like that. I think she's since passed away but. A game like this really helps put things in perspective

I myself don't have Alzheimer's, but my grandma did.. from my point of view, this is probably very accurate. It started slow with my grandma doing silly things like hiding our shoes in a tree, but it started getting noticeable by the time I was 12. She was a women's rights activist waaaayyyy back, she ran for governor of her town, she was a good journalist, she was a loyal and great wife for my grandma when he served in WW2, and she was always the liberal other half to my grandpa's strong conservative political stances. But my grandparents were so great together, man. We went on family vacations every year with them. And even when my grandma started forgetting her grandkids' names... Then her kids' names... Then her husband's name... Then her own name... My grandpa was always the best spouse he could be for her, and he made sure she had a good life even after she couldn't speak English and couldn't control her bodily waste functions. Alzheimer's is a terrifying disease because it just tears away your past from you, then your present, then your future. But I'm glad my grandma had a hell of a good spouse to go through it.

i was holding back tears the whole time and lost it when cory said "hey...who's next...the family's gathering around...it must be uh, must be that time,,,i love you all, thank you for giving me a good life." my ability to create vivid memories and maintain them was sort of stunted at some point in my childhood largely in reaction to traumatic/abusive experiences (realized through discussion with family and later on therapists/psychiatrists), and this is my greatest fear. because if my memory is this unreliable at 24 years old, i wonder is this what it's going to be like when i'm older i have set up many coping mechanisms to aid my forgetfulness i.e. phone calendars, planners, notification reminders, medication, etc. and i have many loved ones in my life who know i'm forgetful and usually give me a boost or reminder when i need it. but even then, i just worry that this "game" is a possibility for me in the future. i'm so grateful for cory and this community, and his awareness throughout the video was very touching. it has been a great reminder to see each day as a chance to live life to the fullest and to remind those around me that i love them. i hope that as i grow older, i hope these intentional steps i'm taking now to keep myself in check mentally and physically will prove worth it so that i may live a long, fulfilling, and memorable life for myself and those around me. love yall.

my great grandmother, mamaw nelly. She had altheimers and she recently passed last year. It scared me, like I was in a horror movie. That morning I was going to school and While me and my mom were making our way to school, my grandmother came on the phone crying and screaming that her mother or my great grandmother, was barely clinging on to life. My mom began to cry, but I went to school before I heard anything else. All I know a week later, we were at a funeral, an open casket funeral. This was my first time really seeing a dead body. God bless who ever has or knows someone with alzheimer's . I love you Cory and this video really made me think of my grandmother and this horrific story.

My mother has Alzheimer’s, she never remembers who I am but rarely she does. Sometimes she calls me by my fathers name and it’s really comforting to her so I act like a loved one, she never remembers much so this video is understandable

My grandmother has Alzheimer's She almost never realizes who I am even though she practically raised me. Of course it hurts when she doesn't or when she complains of her life. She usually says "You're a brat. Can't do anything right." She even tried to hurt herself, thinking she was ugly. However, I know that when she dies, she won't be in pain. I hope you realize, that even though your mother might not remember you, you still have those beautiful memories of before this period of time. She won't always be there for you, but she's your mother. She would want you to be happy. I might not know her, but thats just how maternal instincts are. If you need someone to talk to, Im right here.

SectetsOfThePhoenix H2O my great grandmother recently died and she had Alzheimer’s. It hurts she slowly forgot us but she still would always sing to us. She song to us and let us hug her. As soon as we all hugged and loved on her she died. Like she at least waited to see all of us. Life is short. Love and appreciate everyone. Their may come a time you won’t be able to.

Same..i pray for your family, I know it's hard ;-; my grandfather had to go through the same thing, I miss him, to see him as a shell of the person he used to be it brought back some bad memories, WHY DOES A DISEASE HAVE TO EXSIST TO TAKE PEOPLE AWAY, to hurt the family closet, when I saw him, he didn't know us, he wasn't the same, but we still loved him till the last breath,.,Spend every moment you can with her cherish it, please..,

Grandparents are amazing. There are so many people who had the chance to hear their grandparent say I love you for one last time, my poppa died in 2020 in April during the pandemic and he became half-unresponsive while staying at our house in a hospital bed. He could hear us, but it was as if he was paralyzed and had his eyes closed. I remember watching him taking one final breath while I was in the same room as him. My auntie and dad were there, too, and my auntie told me to get my other aunt and my mom. I waited outside for a bit and laid on the grass until my mom told me he was gone. The thing was, that was the last time all of my family was together. Ever since then, my cousin, who was there at the gathering that day, has been running away back and forth with random guys, and my uncles don't speak to each other, one of them doesn't come to family gatherings, as well. I miss my poppa, he was hilarious and made everyone's day.

Cory I love how you told us to be grateful for what we had and not to take it for granted. I take lots of stuff for granted but people around the world don't have what I have and everyone needs to be grateful, not hateful. EDIT: I almost cried watching this.

This is one of my worst fears and I'm always scared about just the thought of something like this happening to me or any of my family members. It would break my heart into pieces if I was the only one keeping the memories. It makes me feel like they'd be a shell of the person they were before.
