They are the reason many of you study those formulas in math in the first place. It was civilized, just go see any ancient city, many of the remains are still there. And those buildings are much stronger and better than most buildings. Mohanjodaro for example, is another city situated in Pakistan of the indus valley. It was originally a part of India, the people were 5000 years older and they made drainage systems which are still functional even today. You call that uncivilized?

It is important to note. The British could never have controlled us without the active aid and assistance of our own Indian royalty. The British Empire did not have the manpower to control India. It enlisted thousands of Indians who actively subjugated their fellow country men. It did same thing in Nigeria. I feel we let the role of many of Indian royalty slide in our discussion.

Britain did not create wealthy countries. Britain got wealthy from exploiting natural wealth and resources from their colonies. Name one emperor of that time that actually invested in their empire and were benevolent in their practices towards local populations. And they say they brought civilization, plumbing, roads…there was civilization already, and nobody asked them to come colonize and bring the trappings of their own homes just because they wanted that same luxury there. It wasn’t to benefit from the people.

Its people never had hunger deaths until foreign rulers invaded and started looting. Climate , soil, rivers etc in most part of the country are the best for agriculture. One can live year long without the help of clothes (meaning temperatures are best for living) for the most part of the country. Europe, with its harsh weather, and attitude of invasion, always was forced to invent, such as locomotives, rail transport, guns, for just survival.

The British Empire wasnt all bad for India, and it wasnt like India was doing so great when the Europeans showed up. Until someone recons that history India was in the middle of a genocidal cultural/religious conflict between Hindu and Muslim Princes - and it was a combination of their greed and ambition that enabled the Europeans to get a foothold in the first place. That being said; what happened in India was horrible. Some of the things the Europeans, especially the various “East Indies Companies” did and promoted was cruel and barbaric. Europe didnt bring war, famine, slavery, and death to India but they sure as hell didnt help much for the first hundred years or so. To their credit, the Europeans did finance and build alot of infrastructure (for selfish reasons), and over time came to treat the Indians with more respect. But, yeah. Conquered peoples always suffer from Imperialism.

Mughal period indeed had political stability and that period saw some progress too, but that was not the peak. I am not a Hindutva fan that I would love Mughal bashing. But, India's GDP as percentage of world GDP was also higher during Gupta age. India was the hub of education during that time. Evaluate progress keeping in mind that period and India's position was substantially better at that time.

This is also not factually correct. The East India company initially tolerated Sati. Sati was a practice that was initially relegated to elite Rajput clans and was opposed by the Mughals. Raja Ram Mohan Roy and later the British opposed the practice of Sati. 😅 Not surprising that both journalists are conservative political commentators, with Tucker Carlson being the foremost proponent of Trumpism. 😅 Read - We say stupid things to make a living.
