Watch the expense ratio. I was in a targeted fund for many years and didn't see a good return on investment. Also the expense ratio was high. A few years ago I switched my money out of the Target fund into a vanguard s&p 500 fund with a low expense ratio and during the upturn it went bananas.

Skip the target date funds due to expense ratios. Find the SP500 Index equivalent and pick that. If you're young, you can split some off into a large cap growth option and call it a day. Target date funds will take a lot of your money just to move money over to bonds over time.

You’d be better off putting your money in whatever low cost index your company offers that tracks the S&P 500. The rates will be much higher if you can stomach some volatility.

While your 401(k) account will likely continue to grow after you stop contributing to it, that growth will be limited by the market, your plan’s balance and other factors, so i can perceive the preference for Annuities, I still want to know how best to compound at least $2m in retirement savings without holding cash

True, proper asset allocation is critical. Furthermore, some fund managers employ hedging strategies or devote a portion of their portfolio to defensive assets that perform well during market downturns. Individuals who rely on pensions should understand their fund investment strategies. Having an advisor assisted me in garnering up to $3 million for retirement.

I'm considering investing around $700,000 in stocks as I've learned that savvy investors can still profit during challenging times. Do you have any solid stock market strategies for retirees

It's crucial to have a well-thought-out strategy and not make impulsive moves based on short-term market fluctuations. Patience and a long-term perspective are key. You should consider a market expert to guide you.

Opting for an inves-tment advisr is currently the optimal approach for navigating the stock market, particularly for those nearing retirement. I've been consulting with a coach for a while, and my portfolio has surged by 115% since 2022

Accurate asset allocation is crucial, and some individuals use hedging strategies or allocate part of their portfOlio to defensive assets for market downturns. Expert guidance is vital for achieving this. This approach has helped me stay finan-cially secure for over five years, yielding nearly $1 million in returns on invest-ments.

This isn't bad advice, but I wouldn't dismiss options for growth or total market funds if you are young. The returns are generally better and the expense ratio is usually lower.

My growth of 401k is 2.74% in the past year. In this environment does investing under a brokerage with a custodian outperform a 401k? should I seek a pro to grow my funds on brokerage acct or still hold? I have 5 years to retirement. Happy to discuss.

Private investing is the best way to go about the market right now, especially for near retirees, I've been in touch with a wealth manager for awhile now netted 370thousand this downturn, made it clear there's more to the markets than we average ones know.

Ask if your job offers one. If they do and they match contributions, that’s the first place to invest. If they don’t offer it, then you can open an IRA (individual retirement account yourself). For IRA, if you want your contribution to count towards last year’s max, you still have until Tax Day to contribute to 2022. It has to be opened and the money in the account by then, so I’d give myself at least 5 business days before tax day to be sure it counts.

Oh girlfriend, you have swallowed the Wall Street Kool-Aid! Target date funds suck. Love their “easy automatic, investing” marketing pitch. But have you looked at the returns? They are the financial equivalent of over-priced sausage. Does fillet mignon go into sausage? No it does not. They are full of garbage Wall Street couldn’t pawn off otherwise.

Trash advice! This is not financial advice but the s&p has a 10% annual average return over the last 50-100 yrs. A target option will put your money into cds and bonds the older you get that might get you a 4% return at best. You will be alot richer doing some research and finding good stock index funds.
@crazy4beatles
@crazy4beatles Жыл бұрын
It’s not bad advice.It’s spreading the risk. When you’re farther away from retirement more is invested in the stock market so that over the years you take advantage of those higher returns. You’re right that when you get closer to the target date it’s shifter to more conservative options that have lower returns. So that you don’t end up having to postpone retirement if the target date hits when the stock is shit. That’s what happened to a lot of people in the 2008 crash who say their stocks plummet. And their choices was to sell and take the loss or wait it out and keep working to make ends meet. I personally have both. Target date funds through my job’s 401k and S&P mutual funds in my IRA.
