thanks for the updates. even more details how it is as a student and what the common core skills are about (not really the exercices in detail but more like which technologies, concepts, languages do you learn about). how international would you say it is? would everyone speak french there or could one also survive with english?

I have a question: I'm gonna start the piscine soon, what OS you usually use on Dell computer? I mean, you use windows or Linux And do you recommend to study English too? It helps me to get succeed on piscine? I can't speak English very well, sorry. I'm from Angola (42Luanda)

I believe it's Debian or Ubuntu running the latest version of Gnome, on the Dell computers and even the Macbook computers. You don't have to learn any other languages if you don't want, but during the exams (every Friday) the computers will be restarted into "exam mode" where you won't have access to the internet. Some problems during the exam are only available in English and French, so it would be a good idea!

Hey, I wanted to ask, after the Piscine, when the core curriculum started, did you have to attend school every day? You can only do your projects on site, or you can do them at online sometimes? Can you start doing tasks/projects on your laptop? How does this work? And about the internships. Are there in the same location as your school or its possible, that you will need to relocate? Thanks

Hello ! You don’t have to go to school every day, you will just have to submit projects and defend it them school, you choose your own pace etc as long as you fit deadlines. For internship, as I shared in the video, it’s your responsibility to find an internship, so the location depends which company you succeed to get into.

It would be awesome if they would make the system/curriculum available to the whole project for self-study. I believe the school is a non-profit? So I don't see the reason why they don't open it.

One of the school’s principles is peer-to-peer learning. You can’t do peer-to-peer if you just self-study 😅

Hey I'm gonna attempt Paris, in September, and I've got a question regarding the NORMS ? If I understood clearly you are not meant to use some of the standard libs like , etc. But I've got a bit of experience with C, nothing that would make me good enough to find a job, but I was wondering if during the exercises, if we are allowed to use our custom headers/lib to solve problems, because to prepare myself I decided to work on completing exercises from People's piscine, to get a feel of where I'm lacking. Because the norm is so restrictive, I find it kinda hard sometimes to complete the exercises without building a library of relevant functions, for examples one exercises ask to build a function called ft_printnbr(int nbr) which ask you to convert an integer to it's string representation, after finishing the exercises, without using any functions I decided to improve the readability by using a stack to avoid the reversing of the string before displaying it, so I build a quick Stack.h and Stack.c, and so my question is the following : Is this allowed ? because I don't want to get a -42, and to me I feel like this is ok but I can't find any resources on the internet. Also are you allowed to use something other than VIM ? I use helix which is also a terminal based editor.

You'll figure it out when you do the pool, don't worry! There are tools online to help you once you're in. It's more important to just keep coding and practice problem solving in C until you're in the pool.

It's always been a regret to never have had the possibility to study computer languages. So decided to do it now. And I'm exited about it. thanks again.

42 is for everybody no matter the age ! I actually met a lot of people who are 50+ at 42 Paris. It’s very inspiring that no matter a sort of social pressure “oh, it’s too late to study at your age” people are brave enough to follow what they want to do. Good luck and be proud of yourself ! 💪🏻🥳

В школе 42 обучение только в кампусе, онлайн проекты сдавать нельзя. Это конечно не мешает тебе делать все дома и приезжать в школу все сдавать. И да отборочный этап «бассейн» полностью проходит в кампусе оффлайн.

Primarally C! Learning how to code beforehand will help you greatly, so I'd take some time to learn some basics and problem solving skills before you give the pool a shot!

quick question, do you need or rather is it a huge plus to get your own mac/macbook for this school? since it's all they have inside the school, in order to work on projects a bit from home, or does that make no difference from a windows PC

During piscine you will always be at school :) If you’re get admitted, you might work on projects from home, but it would rather be on Linux, not on windows. Don’t get in a rush to buy mac pc unless you’re a fan of Apple.
