Hello everyone! In this video we open a Magic: The Gathering Kamigawa Neon Dynasty Collector Booster Box and take a look at the prices ~ 23 months after launch.
This certainly isn't meant to be financial advice, but I do find it interesting to see a snapshot of the prices while looking at the cards. I really enjoy this set and I hope that you enjoy this video and find it useful in some way =)
A Playlist containing all of my MTG opening / pricing videos can be found here:

A quick note: After editing this whole video together and getting it ready to upload, I noticed that the price on the Pilot and Ninja tokens is actually for the single-faced foil versions of the cards, and not the double-faced versions shown here. The double-faced ones are worth much less for some reason, but due to the ripple effect of one card changing every other on-screen price total and the amount of time that it would take to re-edit and re-record the voiceover I am leaving the footage as is. I apologize for it being inaccurate, but hopefully this addendum serves as enough of a notice of the price chance. Feel free to subtract $11.07 of Market Value from the Totals if you'd like to remove those tokens from the calculation entirely. Again, I apologize for the inaccuracy and any confusion that it may cause.
When doing the price overlays I also noticed that the Hidetsugu Consumes All was number 486 (worth $3.22 TCG Market in foil) and not number 211 (worth $3.07 TCG Market in foil), which I did change on the screen when I pulled the card, but not in the total price breakdown sections as that was recorded prior, so add 15 cents in there if you'd like.
There may be other discrepancies as well, I'm not perfect and I can't catch them all, but I do try my best to be accurate and transparent with the information that I am presenting.
Disclaimer: This video is entirely for entertainment purposes. Please do not make any purchasing decisions based on the content within. Trading collectables on a secondary market always carries an inherent risk of loss and I am not responsible for any losses that you may incur. Even in the 8 hours between filming, editing, and posting this video many of the cards may have shifted in price. Perform your own due diligence. That being said, I hope that this video can serve as a fun snapshot of one individual's personal experience with purchasing, unboxing, and pricing this cool product.

Definitely, the group my wife and I play with is almost exclusively EDH and while I wasn't particularly pro or anti original Kamigawa sets neon Dynasty blind sided us, we drafted it like our lives depended on it, still have a stash of almost a dozen draft boxes and a couple of set boxes.

Just the other day I was actually considering buying another box for that exact reason lol, (as well as for some of the other cool pulls). I'm never lucky with serialized hits, but it would be really cool to see.

@@SigsPlays My personal position in kamigawa neon dynasty is 5 ninja theme boosters 1 of each color theme boosters, 4 omega collector booster packs, 2 set booster boxes, 2 pre release boxes, a collector booster, and 6 gift bundles. I'm not gonna open any of them. Plan on selling them in a few years or so. Only way to guarantee a profit with stuff like this.
@SigsPlays

@@RedRumOnE Yeah, if at all long-term is the way to go with sealed product. The single market is so volatile right now with all the reprints. I definitely see sets with great flavor (like this one) going up over time as supply dwindles and people who missed out on it the first time around want to experience it, or get nostalgic to experience it again. Boy do I wish that I held on to more sealed original Kamigawa block or Avacyn Restored for that reason. Although these newer sets do seem to have been printed in much larger quantity, and that's also assuming that demand is still pretty high in the future. And hopefully Wizards doesn't randomly start reprinting entire sets, because who really knows with them anymore, lol.

@@SigsPlays The problem is that there are so many man children playing a game meant for 13 yr olds. What happens is they buy up the product and create artificial demand, so Hasbro has to supply that demand, devaluing your initial investment. I always say, I don't collect cards. I don't collect Pokemon, magic, or lorcana. I collect UPC codes and I sell them back to people who give a shit about them.
@SigsPlays
@SigsPlays 6 ай бұрын
@@RedRumOnE Yeah, I mean I like actually playing the game too, so people hoarding good playable singles creates a real barrier to entry and I get why Wizards does reprints for that reason. It definitely makes it hard to invest in any non-reserve-list singles though. Sealed product (UPC Codes) is the way to go since once the print run is done they aren't making any more of them.

Love Kamigawa!! But I recently tried to sell some copies to a shop, they would only give me 1/5 of the market price...i don't think it is relevant to show the market prices since you show how much you would pay to buy it not how much you would be able to sell it...
@SigsPlays
@SigsPlays 6 ай бұрын
It's a great set! And I hear ya. Every local shop's buylist prices are going to vary from shop to shop, but they are usually pretty low compared to Market Price, like you said. I do show the TCGPlayer Buylist prices, and that is meant to give some idea of roughly what you could get for selling them to a vendor (like a local card shop). Looking at the total Market Price is more of an indication of value in the sense of "If I paid "X" for this Box, did I get more or less than ""X" in cards that I would have otherwise had to buy as singles to acquire." You're right that it isn't particularly relevant because most of the time it wouldn't make sense to want to buy that exact spread of cards as singles. It would make more sense to just buy the ones that you wanted and save the rest of the money. But since you're getting a random assortment of a bunch of cards anyways, I think it's a decent indication of whether or not you got your 'money's worth' for that lot of cards, if that makes sense. Also if you were to sell the cards as singles directly on ebay/amazon/tcgplayer or whatever, you could get Market Price (minus shipping and seller fees) and not the 1/5th Buylist price that a vendor would give you, which is why I like to look at both metrics. But yeah, you'll almost never make money on a box buylisting the cards to a local card shop or tcgplayer / cardkingdom unless you get some really lucky pulls. Sorry for the long-winded response lol, just wanted to explain why I look at both metrics and what the difference is in case other people were wondering too. I appreciate the feedback though, you make a great point!

theyre paying you 1/5 because they take all your cards and pay you cash instant, if you want to sell them for the market price, you have to find a buyer and thats tied with work
