Garret County’s Friends Stockyard is one of the last remaining livestock auctions serving Maryland farmers. The Friend family have been running weekly auctions since the 60’s and today’s managers, Brothers Joe and John Friend along with USDA market reporter Scott Rhodes give viewers a better understanding of what livestock auctions provide family farmers; farmers like Mike Diehl who let’s viewers follow along as he prepares his cattle to garner the best prices possible.

That 2 million in annual Maryland sales remark toward the end of the video must be a mistake, the industry is a lot bigger than that

Good spot! Excluding sales of dairy, Maryland's annual livestock sales are approaching 80 million dollars.

Even tho im a meat eater i still get sad watching this type of stuff. I totally understand that humans need to eat and meat provides so much protein, nutrition and much needed energy. But i wish we can come up with a different way to harvest meat.
