Persona definition refers to voice and perspective author adopts to tell story . Persona in literature are particularly distinctive when author uses first persona narrator , as storyteller. As clearly separate from author. Example our persona name is Emma . They have specific characteristics instead of range . Persona is image or personality that persona represents in public or in specific setting as opposed to their true self . Types of persona are fictional, role based , qualitative, anti persona . Persona technique is fictitious users / customers are created using statistics questioners. Persona in poem is dramatic character distinguished from poet , who is speaker of poem . How do I create a persona for my rap career?

That is a very good question and one that is a bit outside of our area of expertise. Does anyone out there have any advice for Miguel?

No it's not about dogs. It's about human nature. The Poet is saying that man is a two faced obedient slave to his master(shown through the dog-owner relationship) whose immortality is achieved through hidden hatred bitterness and resentment (through the voice of the dead). The persona shows how some human behaviour is worse than an animal (here a dog). I.e. the poet is saying "not even a dead dog (restored to life) would be so hateful and vengeful and duplicitous". He's saying dogs are better than some men because they don't think these things. An ironic persona is employed in this way to illustrate what we ought not be. We see a reflection of ourselves and feel shame and remorse as we see a portrait of our bad behaviour. The voice of the dead shows the immortal soul. Where as a dog has no immortal soul. The poet is questioning the goodness of human nature and immortality In contrast the person of Jesus Christ saves the soul through Gods love

It is sad the you didn't mention that persona is a spanish word and it means people

Thanks for the post, Donaldo! The way scholars typically understand the origins of the word go back to Latin (where persona means "mask"). It is this sense of taking on the identity of another person that is what makes persona poems and songs so interesting. Because Spanish derives from Latin, it is likely the case that the origins are similar. Does this word also mean mask in Spanish? Or is it a stand-in for any person?
